Based on the infos we gotten here, it seems like AP is already more or less ready to deploy but it's only B*M is the one co*kblocking. I don't think it's something to do with Apple now. Apple most likely is like "U wanna use? Use la, just pay us a fee" while the bank(s) involved says "ok sure, nah fee for u. Let me integrate now".

BNM doesnt like :

1) Multi device authentication of apple pay (1 card can be used on phone and watch)
2) Apple pay doesnt require pin for transactions above RM250
3) Apple pay doesnt have a daily limit for contactless transactions

Not sure if above applies to samsung pay also?

z3 is spot on on the question by BxM on AP, that's exactly the questioned by them and answered to them verbally late last year and a written response was given last friday.
Necessary justification was given like the likelihood a PIN is compromised (000000 until 999999) vs face ID (1 in 1mio probability) and regarding tranx limit also everything is stated in emvco standard and followed through. Up to BxM to accept the justification now.

Samsung Pay was released a while back with minimal issues; what policy is preventing them from implementing Apple Pay?

It's fine because we were being told it be available not late by March 2022.

1) Even if having multiple of the same cards is a concern; you still need biometric authentication or a passcode before payment. It’s not like a physical card that you can steal and use the contactless function without verification.
2) Any wave transaction above RM250 needs a PIN anyway, it’s literally like your bank card but on your iPhone. Apple Pay still needs verification before payment.
3) Apple is not the card issuer, it’s just merely a platform to host the digital cards. The bank works with Apple and it’s responsible for the default limit and consumers have the option to increase it.

Even if the thief has the user’s biometric or passcode (at this point, if the user has reach this far; they really suck at securing their own iPhone) its the user’s responsibility to contact the bank about the stolen card and erase their stolen iPhone’s data via iCloud.

It will be really fucked up if Apple Pay was cockblocked because some boomer doesn’t understand modern consumer electronics.

The card issuer that needs to impose any limit not apple pay. Apple pay merely a platform to use physical card in electronic form 🤷
All those things are similar with samsung pay that have been introduced in Malaysia for ages, nothing new
