Yes. Any paywave terminal will be able support to Apple pay.

IIRC, it was Dome at the Curve and McD at Teluk Intan.

Didn't like the currency conversion though, since it was a Sg bank's credit card that was linked to my phone.

Anyway, looking at why banks here support Samsung pay and not Apple pay, it tells a lot about phone ownership here in Malaysia. We just happen to have more Samsung phones in Malaysia market, period. If we have more Apple phones in the market, credit card operators will just support Apple pay.

Wow interesting, thanks for the confirmation. hmmm but we have a lot of iPhone too especially in the LRT/MRT you can see it a lot. Was thinking maybe Samsung did some exclusive contract with the banks... Was expecting Apple Pay to come here sooner since it is already available in SG since 2016 i think... usually will come to malaysia soon after.

Currently we have Maybank/CIMB Pay that works with android NFC phone and Samsung Pay.... and the on-slaughter of QR code based mobile wallet. Hopefully Apple Pay going to land here soon. sad.gif

A lot of iPhones, meh...generally, the purchasing power here ain’t to high when it comes to smartphones - I’m speaking on a whole, not just cities alone. It just makes sense to support Samsung pay or Android pay or what not cause we have more non-Apple devices here.

But come to think of it, there’s also some monetary reason why banks here don’t like to support Apple Pay, I’ll try to poke around.

One of the foreign bank’s credit card in Singapore does not support Apple Pay. There’s a reason cited somewhere, I’m keen to find out the real answer. Also, I’m working in that bank tongue.gif

Citibank right LOL https://support.apple.com/en-my/HT206638
they wanted to come out with their own mobile payment solution but didn't get much traction http://www.citigroup.com/citi/news/2017/17...linkId=39480508

but wow didn't know they have this in SG also basically is like Maybank/CIMB Pay in Malaysia...

Hahahaha yeah iPhone in cities LOL but kampung not much NFC/Paywave terminal in place anyway what LOL but yeah overall definitely there's more android... but if taking into account of NFC android vs iPhone 6s and above, the numbers might not be that far tongue.gif

but thats the reason why QR code payment is getting all the hype.... lousy android or any iPhone can support. without the need of NFC or Apple's approval

How does credit card benefit work with AP? If I add let's say card that have dining cashback. Does using it with AP still eligble for that? The transaction show AP deduct or directly merchant (the dinning place)?

What about Apple Cash? Would it be supported in Malaysia?
This seems more like a "e wallet" kinda thing where people send and receive money?

If supported where can we use? any visa/mastercard terminal would work?

Nah we won't be getting Apple Cash anytime soon. It's only available in the U.S. for now, and I doubt they'll skip Canada, UK, etc and launch in Malaysia haha.

Apple cash is US only as well? I thought that is Apple cash card.

So basically Apple cash wont be available la... ooh

Is Apple Pay only accessible via the lock screen?
Can I unlock my phone, open wallet app, tap on the card and use it like that?

Tested Apple Pay in LA using Tap card super cool especially with Express Travel. Then used my Visa card in NYC subway.... Super nice... glad we have Apple Pay now biggrin.gif

Especially with the Tap card in LA. No need to have physical card. Imagine you can apply for a TnG card directly in Apple Pay and use all our public transport. Including online top up too.

I saw other country implemented their mifare classic card into Apple Pay which is the same underlying tech under tng. Wonder if tng would work with Apple Pay one day

Anyone tried their Malaysian cards in oversea before with Apple Pay? Does it work?

I am in Japan now and I tried my Maybank card in many places and only one place (convenience store called Lawson) worked. I put my Apple Watch infront of POS system for like 4-5 seconds and there was no response for my Maybank Card. I tried in 2 Lawsons and only 1 worked with my Maybank card

But when I use my Japanese card and there is no issue and transaction went through within second.

Yes it works, I used the express travel in US bus and metro no issue. I think some used in SG no issue also.

Update: wait yours is debit card? best call Maybank to check

Had sms issue too. Removed the card and readd and boom! Works now! Finally.

Now my wish list is Citibank (but hard cause UOB takeover. Hope UOB will do it for them) then Wise card for travel use.

depends on the terminal, some supported but they dun wan accept because fees charge higher.

Just tell them pay by AP/ cc then just wave it, probably can pass one

I just hope they implement like on public transports in SG. Tap and off u go first, charge u one shot in total in the middle of the night. (Is this call VLP111?)
If they are not, imagine the time taken to even just approve the transaction. It's going to be slower than dinosaur TnG.
Worst if they allow eWallets. For sure tons of ppl will NEVER open the app in advance first. Please I do hope they disable eWallets usage on these machines.

I think one of the reason they did that because the ticket is based on distance travelled + transit cool off time rather than one off ticket price.
Hence they need to total it up rather than charging it upfront.

For example from Bugis to Downtown you take bus + train or train only it's the same price.

I do wish malaysia would do this so my mix travel of rapidkl bus + train would be much cheaper.

New York also does this but a bit difference, as in it charge one shot let's say 2USD then you can transit once bus/train within 2 hours? it will be inclusive rather than having extra charges.
