It bothers me Public bank decides to support Google wallet n not Apple Pay

because PB and CIMB among the pilot bank test during initial testing..
Not sure why others not joining

CIMB will join ApplePay 2H 2023. HSBC / OCBC / UOB no indications yet, but it is likely it will be the same timeframe. Guessing that Maybank, Ambank & Standard Chartered have 1st mover advantage with Apple for 1 year.

Couldn’t use Apple Pay (Visa) at one of the Korean convenience store chain.

The error message when the transaction failed IIRC was “Timed Out [Error Code]” and the terminal is a “Plug n Play” branded terminal that looks similar to the one below:


The store-keeper asked if I had a physical card beforehand and advised that Apple Pay may take a lot longer to go through. I am wondering if it’s a connection issue that has caused the “Time-Out” (affecting all card transactions) or did the store managed to “ban” all mobile contactless payments.

Is OCBC bank supporting Apple Pay soon?

Just updated their Malaysian bank app, and noticed that the app supports Apple Wallet features

It’s been a year and a half since Apple Pay was launched in Malaysia, and apart from Wise, there hasn’t been any additional banks/wallets that have adopted it. After months and months of “coming soon” from BigPay and Hong Leong without any news, I gave up waiting and just closed my other accounts and opened a Maybank account. I suggest you do the same too. This is the point of competition, I suppose—Maybank gets a new customer because it adopted a popular technology, offering it for all its debit/credit cards, while the other banks lose a customer because they drag their feet, probably because they’re unwilling to give a small cut of the transaction fees to Apple.

Anyone have any insider news as to when UOB will be supported? Kind of weird UOB MY not supporting but SG can.
