Very disappointed with this. Just switched from iPhone to samsung. Really thought that Applepay is going to replace my Samsung Pay.

if not mistaken Apple takes 0.xx% fee from bank, if you are using Apple Pay, not sure about Samsung Pay (could be just middle man and Samsung does not incur any fees), it just let you attach any credit card and send your card info to terminal, Samsung not having any benefit laugh.gif but for Apple Pay, Apple will get some fees, thus, Apple need to work with local banks

Such a pity. Apple should start focusing on giving its customers the full experience!

is it worth such hassle by going through so many hoops just to use Apple Pay in MY ?

i have Apple Card on my phone but even that i don't use it that often, it was a surreal experience when i first use it in US after moving here 3 years ago but after a while the novelty just wear off i was like mehhh just another way to pay stuff.

when I had Samsung Pay, I used it all the time. Basically in any places that support payWave. Nothing amazing but it makes the process easier.

I do miss the simplicity of the process. I never bothered to try Apple Pay since I switched to ios.

Looks like Apple is bringing the ecg function for Apple watch. Is this a sign that we are being considered as an important market? Maybe Apple pay will be next.

Thailand have 2 Apple store yet they did not have Apple Pay still.

What about the ECG function for Apple watch?

Apple Pay I understand. It involves Banks and other Financial entities but the ECG function should be purely based on Apple's effort to get the required certifications right?

Looks like the ECG function for Apple Watch is official.

There is hope after all for Apple pay to work as it should in Malaysia

This is good news. I think all banks should consider investing more in Apple Pay, Samsung Pay etc because at least their card is in use.

Everytime I see this thread bumped up, I was hoping it’s some good news but it’s always a disappointment. I mean, bumping this thread up for no good reason is really a bummer.

Anyways, I found something interesting for those understand JSON. Apparently, this is what your phone will request from Apple every time you launch AP.

AP JSON file

Well, continue refreshing this JSON file everyday and hope there’s suddenly MY in there.

Sekian.

Haha. Same here. I get excited when I see this thread bumped.

Especially during this time of the year when Apple is about to make multiple products announcement.

Further more T&G and Maybank really taking up market share. Too late for apple to enter.

Apple pay and Samsung pay still have the advantage in terms of 'card replacement'.

If Apple pay integrates TnG or even any debit card, you can use it at any train station or parking space without carrying your card.

The qr route would only work best if every train station, parking etc has qr scanners.

Agree.. Apple pay does not have any advantages in malaysia market anymore.
*
It has. It replaces physical cards including TnG which could then be used in train stations, parking spaces etc. All areas which qr payment will not work!

qr pay is still not as widely available as card payment.

Another problem is due to the fact that most ewallets are trying to be a 'Super' App. They're trying to compress everything into their app to monopolize their services and payment methods.

I swear, everytime I use TnG or Grab app to make payment, I have to take 4-5 seconds to finds the correct button to make payments.

I wonder why SAMSUNG PAY can do it in Malaysia but not APPLE PAY???

https://www.samsung.com/my/samsung-pay/supported-devices/
*
I wonder. Is it because Samsung stores their SamsungPay transaction data locally instead of pushing them to some cloud service based in the US?

BNM is very particular on this!

I know the exact date when it will launch, but I can’t tell you. Hopefully there won’t be any hiccups like earlier in the year. As far as i know, only one bank will be supporting apple pay at launch.
*
Which colour bank?

Also, will it support both Debit and credit card?

I have multiple debit cards and am confident that at least one bank from that will be the one you're talking about but if CC, I only use HSBC.
