QUOTE(amidamaru @ Sep 26 2016, 10:19 AM) it is possible to buy in malaysia? late at night i think most of sale counter close already. If i buying the next day then a bit waste my time and money since i will directly using midnight train after arrival. Yes u can. The easiest one is from the small counter after Isetan cust service @ KLCC. The price is based on higher currency & change weekly although the pass price will be the same. Online rate will be cheaper. However I'm abot worry on online courier (loss in transit) & decided to pay jtb- isetan a visit, just 2 wks b4 my journey. Here is JTB msia website. They are huge in Japan too. http://jtbmalaysia.com/japan-rail-pass/P/s: pls bring in your passport for verification. Otherwise they might not sell to u as this pass cannot change /correct name upon exchange to the actual pass in Japan later. They hv to ensure everything is correct. QUOTE(Fyonne @ Sep 26 2016, 10:50 AM) This is not JR rail pass lor haha. The one I mentioned can only be purchased by Foreigners or Japanese no longer residing in Japan & not available in Japan. U either buy from the appointed agents in oversea or online, and the exchange docket that u buy hv to be exhanged for a reall pass at the norminated stations in Japan. I'not sure about this jr tokyo wide pass. Probably new promo & only limited to Tokyo only?

Latest update QUOTE The Japan Rail Pass can be used only by foreign tourists in Japan. Currently, the pass can be purchased only outside of Japan. However, starting sometime in 2016 on a trial basis, it will also become available for purchase at Narita, Haneda and Kansai Airports. If purchasing the pass outside of Japan or via the internet, you will receive a voucher that has to be exchanged to the actual pass inside Japan and within three months of purchase. Somewhere in the middle of the webpage: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361.htmlOpsssss big mistake. The forumer is asking for tokyo wide pass & not jr rail pass....paisehhhh...sorry This post has been edited by stimix: Sep 26 2016, 11:28 AM

QUOTE(Fyonne @ Sep 27 2016, 10:59 PM) How to identify JR city bus? All JR assets carried the logo "JR" in front of the assets. Thus for shinkansen, try to avoid nob JR shinkansen such as Nozomi that using the same track. This train is operated by diff co & not cover by JR rail pass.

QUOTE(Fyonne @ Sep 28 2016, 10:52 AM) Tobu bus not included rite? some typo (assume) on someone blog about Nikko trip actually make me confuse, mentioning JR pass is can be use on their bus to Yumoto onsen (which i think he meant All Nikko Pass.) has a plan is to go Ryuzu fall (it costs 1400yen for single tripĀ ) i checked JR Tochigi bus only cover the Nikko city central only n doesnt go oku-nikko. plan to fully use my JR pass. Tobu is another diff company. On my 1st trip there, I bought Tobu day pass to Nikko takung Tobu line (slow train hor). Once reaching nikko - tobu stn ( not JR) just hop to any buses & show the day pass. For JR line, there will be train line to nikko too but on diff stn & buses u need to pay kua...not sure..need further research. This is the problem in Japan. Too many independent tpt operators and need to buy new ticket everytime switch lines. This was what happened in KL years ago b4 pasarana integrate all the lines This post has been edited by stimix: Sep 28 2016, 10:58 AM

QUOTE(vey99 @ Sep 28 2016, 11:26 AM) Middle next year i going to Hokkaido with family. Got small kids, any recommendation on where to visit? Likely to go around by bus or train. So far I only think of the Asahikawa Zoo. I wonder if worth to go hakodate side, or go east to Obihiro (but i see there need to rent car to get to POI) stimix wassup bro Fine. Long time no see. My ori plan when I traveled to Japan last yr was to include Hokkaiso as part of my itineraries via shinkansen. Too bad shinkamsen to hikkaido not yet operate at that time till may this yr! We the linking & if u hv 1 week to hokkaido, good idea getting the JR rail pass & travel all the way to Tokyo

QUOTE(look416 @ Sep 28 2016, 11:49 AM) Is it some kind of train trip plan, where you just stop station by station to enjoy foods/views nearby the train station? Not only stop stn by stn lah, wth jr rail pass, u are able to travel from the northern most city till southern most city in Japan. However 1 week pass probably can cover 1/2 of Japan the most. My previous 7D6N trip, I managed to stay 2D1N in Hiroshima, 2D1N in Osaka, 2D1N in Kyoto, 1st night b4 Hiroshima in Tokyo & the last 2 nites in Tokyo again & ID spent at Karuiza ski & factory outlet ~200km from Tokyo. Total distance covered approx 2000+ km. Btw Hiroshima is ~4.5hrs travel via shinkansen or ~900km from Tokyo... not bad...all using this RM1k rail pass. If individually, a 1 way ticket to Hiroshima already ~ RM800!
