Anyone have any shooting experiences in Mt Fuji or around Mt Fuji? I'll be staying in Fujikawaguchiko area. Would love to hunt for sunset/sunrise around these mountain areas. Anyone know any nice spots?

I know you'll give good tips; I'm looking at Syojiko Lake, Yamanakako Lake and of course, Kachi Kachi Ropeway. The places that you mentioned, is it super crowded with tourists? End of November, roughly what's the temperature gonna be like there?

By the way, you had a very good shot on both sunset and sunrise. So clear of the mount! What lens you using, anyway?

Placed I mention Kukuna was Hotel. One of my secret spot for capture picture. Basically no people. Used this Kukna hotel as your guide on google map only. This Kukuna Hotel front door was this Picture View.
One of the perfect angle to shoot Mt Fuji.

Camera was Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS
Aperture F/3.2
ISO 200
Expose time 1/40

November temperature around 7 - 15 Celsius
*
Good tip; let me Google on this. Hopeful for a clear sky. End of November is the start of winter, yeah? I think I better be packing a few more jackets. I wonder how HK would be also around that time.

I am not staying in Lake Kawaguchi area but to take a day trip. I have checked from websites and even google street. I find that nearby the river-ish, Muzeum of Art is a good place to take Mt Fuji as well. GPS coordinate: 35.523410, 138.764994

Need to take the shuttle bus service from Kawaguchiko station, to that area.
*
Wah, coordinates some more! By the lake, wow. Good, good. I'll keep an eye on this one, too. I think it's possible to rent a bike and cycle around the lake. But my intent is for sunrise and sunset. Gosh... such early morning, it's gonna be freezing!

LOL, my host said daytime will be okay, but morning and night will be freezing... OMG. If a local Jap could have said that, I think it'll be almost fatal to us, haha.

QUOTE(stinger @ Oct 12 2016, 09:02 AM)
when you going ? I plan to go kawaguchiko at 19 nov
Sifu, have you been to panorama-dai at lake yamanaka before? I came across this site :

http://www.vill.yamanakako.yamanashi.jp/ho...diamondfuji.php

seems like i can try my luck for it (getting there by 3-4pm is a challenge).

End of the month.

QUOTE(Belphegor @ Oct 12 2016, 09:36 AM)
I have never thought of what time I want to take but I am planning to go on morning, probably the 1st few early bus service from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko station. I've checked through the services that offers to go Kawaguchiko station, even train is expensive than the bus service. Probably reach there around 10ish and planning to have a meal at Tetsuyaki nearby Kawaguchi Station as suggested by some of the tripvisor users.
*
I'll be staying a few nights over there, so I think it'll be easier to move around? If I read correctly, bus would be more convenient than trains, because there are quite a few transits in between, depending where you're coming in?

If stay few nights I suggest you go during early morning or late evening la. Paling cantik scenery mah. laugh.gif And can consider renting a bicycle if there's any. Spend less and you can enjoy the scenery while your ride.

Bus is more convenient actually. Checked the bus, train, car and everything. Cheapest is still bus. Takes 1.45 hours. If train is gonna be 10%-20% expensive and takes longer time too. hmm.gif
*
Yeah, early morning and evening; that is why I'm checking out on possible spots to literally camp and wait for the sun. Damn, I need to learn to cycle again. Last I remember when I was cycling on a bike; I had an accident. LOL! Train is more expensive, yes, and the transit kinda annoying because I won't be able to sleep from the start of the journey until the end. Although train may get you closer to being a local? Hehe.

Sure I been before.
See my Signature below. All places in Japan which I already cover.
Best way to capture Mt Fuji at Yamanaka Lake was do Swam Cruise.
Japanese are very vulnerably to Cold. Cannot take their word as guide.  Tak bolek Pakai punya
Even on normal local train also got one coach are specially tune down air conditioning.
For them everything lower than 20 Celsius are consider cold.
15 Celsius I still wearing T-Shirt come to work and for them already wearing jacket already....wtf

Fully 100% agree!!! My office is damn hot and you see the people wearing cardigan and complaining its cold.

YES! Reminds me of the Taiwanese in Sun Moon Lake. Early morning, before 6AM, I was on shorts and tee and slippers walking towards the bus station whereas these Taiwanese queueing there were all in winter clothing; ZOMFG. They stared me down like I'm from Mars. Jeez, I was even sweating slightly...
Swan Cruise ahhh... doh.gif

QUOTE(juniorkeat @ Oct 12 2016, 12:19 PM)
Hi all sifu,

Just to clarify something...
Is that any fares difference for Express train, Rapid train and local trainin Japan?

Example:
Haneda monorail from station Hamamatsucho to haneda airport, there are 3 different train (express, rapid and local)... Is that any different in fares?
*
My experiences, non related to Haneda monorail. But I remember there are 3 different types of trains going to Osaka/Kyoto of different prices, of course. I don't remember the terms of it, though, but express is direct from point A to point E. There is another that is half express from point A to point E but stop only at point C, which is one of the major stations. Or snail pace train that stops at point A, B, C, D until point E.

I'm going for 10 days. 2 days would be the compulsory Mt Fuji and Hakkonne, one day at Roppongi / Odaiba , Disney Sea , I have a rough sketch on location and using Odaigo to route my way easier. Now we just can't decide to buy Metro or JR pass since JR are more on the bigger places while Metro covers more smaller places etc .

Now one worry is my flight arriving is night at 10.30pm and Air Asia famous for tunggu sedikit, etc etc would be done by 11.30pm minimum so pretty scared on train cause our Airbnb is at Shin-Ohkubu which needs intertrain keiku- shinjuku - shin Okubu, whereas the bus heck need to find out .

Any of you guys night flight like mine can share what transportation you think best to take incase the train station closes at midnight?
*
I think all AA to Haneda flight will arrive at the same time; I usually tidur at airport and only move to the city in the morning. Save one night of hotel.

Kawaguchiko. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can take the cable car up to Mt Kachi Kachi observation deck. Then, from the deck, I can hike up to peak of Mt Tenjo and from Mt Tenjo, I can continue ahead to Mt Mitsutoge? Or, I can stop at Mt Tenjo and U-turn back to the bottom at the cable car station passing by Dazai Ozamu. Yeah?

RM13 a day. Pretty cheap. But RM200 refundable deposit, now that's a pain in the butt.

A dilemma. I'll be in Japan for one week, and another week in HK, then only I'll head home. In HK, I can buy and use a prepaid SIM worth less than $40 for 1GB lasting for a month; definite choice. In Japan, if I'm to get the WiFi rental from Malaysia, I'll ahve to pay for the 2 weeks duration even though I'm only using it in Japan for a week because I'm only returning the device 2 weeks later. If I'm getting the WiFi rental from Japan, instead, I'll be paying twice the amount of money offered locally in KL. Any suggestions how I may turn around with this?

Buffa when are you going? I bought the yokoso sim as well. However I contacted the SG company instead since they offer the 91 day card. tongue.gif and shipping was 5 SGD
2 years ago when I went Japan, I rented a wifi through pupuru. Can return through any postbox in Japan (they include an envelope which has been paid already). Quite reasonable and good coverage too.

I just checked and it's around 400yen per day now. Maybe you can check and consider?
*
Good one, there! Thank you! About RM16 a day, I think. The least, I can still maintain my SIM in phone so I can still receive SMS and phone calls. Yokoso SIM can't receive calls and SMS; that may be a bit of a problem unless you're using the SIM on a dongle or a modem/router. Pupuru sounds good, especially when it has a 24 hours booth in airport, too! My previous trips, they only sent to hotel and there was once... they forgot to activate for me!

It's more of a question if you wanted to buy anything there. If you don't plan to buy anything. A few hours will be enough. But if you love anime and want to buy merchandise, 1 day at least.. heh
*
QUOTE(MR_alien @ Oct 24 2016, 09:08 AM)
not a fan of anime or gundam so just normal sightseeing..thus list is quite short
thats why im in a dilemma which day and where to slot akihabara in because it seemed so packed
i think imma still put it at 18th 1st...if can't made it thn maybe slot it into the last day
*
You gotta slow down, and have a look around... Especially the neon lights all over, and the maids in skimpy dress even during winter... Awww, almost feel bad for them. Hehehe.

Thanks alot for your recommendation!

What about for the internet part? Is it cheaper to get a router or a sim card?
I found this on google looks like a great deal! For their sim card..

Thanks!

Thanks to a fellow member whom suggested Pupuru for Wi-Fi rental, and Yokoso SIM for well, SIM. Google and check them out. I used Japan Wireless twice before, and it was bloody expensive, until a member shared about Pupuru. I've registered for it next month. We'll see how it goes...
