Hey guys, just looking for a suggestion, I'm planning for a 3 weeks to 1 month trip in Japan, trying to cover a few places.

Is it possible to cover say.. Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima in the first 2-3 weeks, then head to Hokkaido for the next half?

Will probably fly into Narito then back from Shin-Chitose via airasia.

Of course it is possible as it depends what you want to do/see/eat/budget, etc. Without mentioning what you want to do its really hard to suggest.

You have quite some time to play around with. Yes, it's possible. Get JR Pass for shinkansen, it's very convenient to move from one city to the other. Plan out your itinerary and get back here to see if others can advice you on it. Do some research on what you want to see and stuffs so others can help you better. And when are you traveling.

The last time I spent 3.5 weeks there, I got quite fed up with Japanese food lol. Even though I'm a huge Japanese food lover. laugh.gif
Depends what kind of traveller you are lor. I think 6 days Tokyo is just nice. Any longer will be too much also.
Why don't you just search airbnb for 8 pax units?
Just make sure got some good reviews and contact the host beforehand.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Nice to know that it can be done.

Hmm actually I don't really have a plan in mind, just planning to visit Japan during Autumn and I guess the better idea would be to land in Hokkaido 1st then slowly move down to Miyajima. My interest would be to photograph the landscape and culture of Japan. I'm not much a eat and play person, but rather to experience Japan in a more... personal? way. Not sure if this is the correct expression. Don't mind eating food from convenience store and maybe enjoy an occasional good meal or drink. Might travel with a couple of friends, might do it alone. Preferable alone, unless they suddenly ajak me.

Anyway, after doing some research, seems like 3 weeks ordinary JR pass is around 60k yen, whihc is around RM2500. I'm putting a budget of RM100 per night for lodging, as some hostels and lodge I searched are around that price, and they even charge 300 yen more per night during peak season. Air ticket probably ~RM1000. Food...

Was actually planning to bike around Japan island, but never been there before so will do it once I'm older or when I get to know more people haha.

From what you say I think you are more of the "unplanned traveller" type, if there is such a word. smile.gif Another way to do it is to take a local train from Tokyo to Kyoto and stop by along the way. However this needs a lot of planning on the transport and hotel as you need to know all the train connections but you will find surprises along the way. I did that during my younger years during winter and it was really fun

Probably yes. Everytime I went for solo travel I didn't really plan much, except research their methods of transportation and some hostels and lodges and prepare enough money.

I have a few spots in mind for Japan. Mainly... Furano, Kamui Misaki, Tokyo Tower, Shibuya, Akiba, Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari, Miyajima, Nara... some castles, temples... after covering these places the remaining of my time are probably in cafes or just wandering around their streets.

Just happy that it's possible to cover Kyoto, Tokyo, Hokkaido, Hiroshima in 3-4 weeks. Don't really like rushing. Once I bought my air ticket and planned my itineraries will come here for advice again tongue.gif
