How come I see the return ticket for May 2017 is about 2,500?

Just returned from a short trip to Osaka/Kyoto (5D4N).
Wish to share some of our experience which may be helpful to those who are contemplating to visit Osaka soon.
Flight:  Low cost Carrier.
Accommodation:  Hotel in Shin Osaka which is only 7 minutes walk from Shin Osaka Station/  Midosuji Subway Station.  The downside is the hotel room is relatively small and can only accommodate a couple but not family with a child tagging along. We have no complaint about the room in term of cleanliness and friendliness of the hotel receptionist.  But talking about the size of the room, I would believe this the norm in any of the travel class hotel in Japan. The easy access to the train and subway stations is of tremendous help to us in reaching Nara ,Kyoto and Down town Osaka.
Sightseeing:  1st Day we began our tour by taking JR train to Kyoto and subsequently transfer to JR train for Nara to reach Inari. We spent around two hours in Inari but did not attempt to walk up to the peak of the hill. Then we continue our journey to Nara by taking the JR train for Nara. From JR Nara Station we took a short bus ride to reach the Deer Park/Todaiji Temple. The bus Station is situated just right beside the JR train station.  We spent the whole afternoon in Nara. We returned to JR Nara Station by taking the bus we earlier took (we were too tired to take the walk back to the station. It should be around a Kilometer )
Reurn to Shin Osaka by JR special Rapid which took around 30-40  minutes.

Why only MAS and Air Asia?

MAS usual price RM2400 +-, promo price anywhere from RM1200 to RM1700.

JAL usually can get RM1200 to RM1500. (Unless peak)

ANA usually can get RM1100 to RM1500. (Unless peak)
Air Asia the lowest with everything is around RM800-900, if you can get ANA with RM1100, it is anytime better.

If you do not mind transit, look out for Thai Airways and Vietnam Airlines, they do promo for RM700-900 all in.

Did loads of research on the cheapest way to get internet in Japan. Previously I rent portable routers but then I stumbled upon this:

Will be using it with a handphone that I'll be bringing along.

Pros:
- Super cheap, RM92 only after 15% discount. That equates to RM6.13/day if you use for 15 days
- 3.5GB with max 500mb/day, sufficient if you don't plan to stream a lot of videos. Usually back in Malaysia my normal usage is 1GB/week if I stream a lot of video
- No extra surcharge for router insurance, no risk of loss/damage of router
- No need to deal with picking up and posting back the router

Cons?
- You'll need a compatible smartphone
- If you use tethering on your smartphone to be shared with your party, your phone will lose battery faster

I see a lot of people thinking how much to spend in Japan Kyoto & Osaka, I consider myself a budget person so here is my list. Im bringing Rm5000 not including airticket & airbnb

Rm1000 on air tickets
Rm600 for 7nights airbnb each person
I put aside 20,000 yen for transport & entrance fee
(240yen per ride for bus)

Day1- Breakfast raw egg & rice 230yen then to kiyomizudera. Spend around 1000yen on greentea snacks & 300yen greentea ice cream & 400yen entrance ticket. Around 6pm go Nishiki Market, a lot of tempting FOOD but it's first day so I'm holding back & trying to find sushi but it's very rare so we went to a small 800yen Ramen. This 2 places is huge so couldn't go any more places.

Day 2- Early morning ate raw egg again 230yen because it's good & can't find in Malaysia. Went to inari shrine & it's tiring & just so-so in my opinion, I went up to lv6 because don't want to waste my money there. The good part is the food under.. There is a lot of new food to try & ate 2000 yen sushi 10piece. Is quite good maybe cause it's my first sushi. Go arashiyama & reach around 5pm,alot stuff closing but it's just a peaceful place but most of the bamboo is greyish. Drank 500yen greentea latte & 200yen foot onsen near the station.

Day 3- Slept slightly late & rush to Kyoto station to have quick 600yen standing soba tempura & rush to biwako valley for skiing. Rent clothing 7500+yen & 3800 entrance fee. Went snowboarding, it is really hard & great experience. Try Mcd.. 1 set & 1al lar carte 800+yen

Today is day 4- Wake early ate sashimi rice 600yen, went Osaka to check in. First go Sinsabashi for shopping, from 3pm to 11pm couldnt finish this place. I've been saving a lot.. Now left with 70,000 yen (I brought 120,000yen) had tea at Dounut(similar to subway sandwich) 410yen + cake & coffee 510yen.. Dinner at another sushi place but not that nice for around 1000yen. Left with too much money, probably gonna blow on electronics, watch & shoes.

if arrive at japan at early morning 6am on 7 march 2017, and going to return on 19 march 2017, is it enough time to visit two cities such as tokyo or osaka?

Hey, tot of just sharing since i just got back from Kyoto / Osaka early this month. I did the whole total costs calculation (estimation thru hyperdia.com) and true enough, ICOCA is cheaper by 5,000 yen.

On the first day arrived in KIX, we took this Yokoso pass where it gave us free subway rides throughout kyoto/osaka for one day, so we save quite a lot for that day. Also took into consideration where would you be staying and whether you would be more on JR or subway as both lines have diff passes if you wish to go for passes.

Since our 3 airbnbs (we moved places) mostly are nearer to subways, ICOCA seems a better fit for us

P.S: If you're a coffee lover, look for % Arabica Coffee at Arashiyama. It's not cheap but the single origin blend is good !

Haha, exactly my reaction when my friend told me. But when he showed me the itinerary, it is actually doable.
My friend did show me his itinerary. It is actually doable. The RM2200++ is for flight, accommodations, transports, meals. Yes come to think of it, RM2200 is abit too tough. My friend suggested me to expand a little to RM2500 to make it more enjoyable.

I do have plans on buying stuff whilst in Tokyo.

Well probably we have different perspective in terms of culture. I like to use minimum budget to gain the maximum experience that I can have. Yes there are times people telling me is impossible but I'm not there to prove them wrong. I'm merely just sharing my views.

Like I said, perspective is different my friend.
