Hey guys, I'm travelling to Hokkaido soon. Thinking for mode of transport, is train cheaper than driving if I'm planning to go out from Sapporo and travel around? Only 2 person, and probably gonna go south (hakodate) and then east (maybe lake Akan). Would be great if anyone have any more recommendation biggrin.gif

And anyone tried to rent wifi from travelrecommends? Their ads all over my facebooks :-S

Thanks!

For 2 ppl train probably a lot cheaper but also a lot less convenient. For example Biei area lots of gorgeous scenery around patchwork road and lots of famous trees to hunt down, but you can't do it on foot / by bus. So in the end it's a cost vs convenience decision.

oh, so if I wanna stick with train how should I plan my trip? My concern of not driving is because I think it's still covered in snow in March and I think it's a bit dangerous.

I'm going in a few days time. Will be renting a car. Dangerous? If you're a noob driver. Ever driven in Malaysia during heavy thunderstorm? Exercise same caution. You can't speed on Japanese road anyway.

My ride comes with AWD & winter tyres. And it's cheaper than usual now  smile.gif

oh which part of Japan you're going? And can you share how much is your car rental? Thanks!
