Hello guys, i will be in Japan for few months. One question about torrenting things in Japan, anyone tried it and are they really strict about it?
*
Cant really say much about this, but I'm thinking if you really scare about the torrent issue, then why dont spend RM20/month to get a cheap seedbox. I dont think they can detect direct downloads.

Hi,

Just booked flights to Osaka arriving in Kansai at 940pm. Anyone else took this flight before? Would I have enough time to get to train? Some say might take 1 hr to get through customs and pick up bags and last train I checked (unless I am wrong) is around 1040.. would this be enough time or I should make secondary plans?
*
Prepare your second plan. From my previous experience, if its a lot of people, it will take around 1-2 hours. Prepare some spare cash for taxi or even limousine bus., or worst come to wosrt, just stay overnight in airport smile.gif

Haruka Timetable

Nankai Airport Express Timetable

You can check their dropoff point and the time. I would suggest always prepare an alternative plan, you never know what will happen next.

Anybody watch movie in sapporo / hakodate before...
*
You can forget about it unless you had passed JLPT Level 2.
There are no subtitles and all the movie are dubbed in Japanese.

To help you have a better understanding of how the cinema works, I have included the link below to teach you how to watch movie in cinema in Japan.

My trip was planned for a rather leisure trip. A day of downtime every other day to relax and do laundry.
Tho I have to say those pastries look yummy! Will check couple of those for sure!
As for the mid-lower tier places, I just saw in the reviews and yt videos and looks interesting to me.
I just did a rough budget. 3k will only cover my meal and transport including shinkansen to kyoto. May bring extra 10k to be safeĀ  biggrin.gif

Don't plan to get a JR pass since doesn't seem worth it for my plan.
Thanks a bunch for the suggestion. Will try ichiran ramenĀ  laugh.gif
Any other places to try?

There is quite a lot, but for now i only think of a few

Tokyo
Ramen - Tsuta Ramen (first ramen who got 1 star michelin)

Arashiyama
Coffee - % arabica

Fushimi Inari Taisha
Unagi Rice - Nezameya

Osaka/Kyoto
Crab Meal - Kani Doraku - although a lot of people said osaka is better in taste and kyoto has much much less crowd, so easier to book the slot
Okonomiyaki - Issen Yoshoku, famous for travellers.

TBH no idea, this will be my first trip to JP

but based on http://www.airporttransfer.jp, for a Toyota Hi-Ace it's around JPY 22,000 to get to Osaka from the Airport. Bloody expensive if convert to MYR but not sure if it's more value to money than taking a taxi. I''m in a group of 10 peoples.

Take bus, 500 yen per trip per person, so you just expecting 5k yen spent.

Got 5 kids and 2 senior citizen, afraid taking bus would be a bit of a hassle to them
*
Well, from my point of view, no matter you are taking bus or train, its going to be a hassle for them. It all depends on how you plan your accommodations. Is it near bus stop? or even train station? Don't forget, even if you took train, you still have to walk some distance to reach your stay.

If you are thinking Japan bus service like Malaysia, then you are totally wrong.
Their bus service is as good as their train service. So you can be 100% no worries on that.
plus you can always get the bus route map from the online, and check their timetable

U have a point!
But the reason I posted here is not really looking for troubles. All your comments are valuable. That's y I keep emphasize that my trip is focus on where I wish and wanna go only. The rest of the point of interest, leave it to next trip, Japan its not my once in a lifetime journey.

All I wanna know are below the questions:
I know its rushing, tats y I emphasize on my point that this trip the focus is different. It's seems doable to me. And I will do it!

And...

Is there any overnight Shinkansen Train from Hakodate to Tokyo? Can anyone share the schedule?

I'm tried to look around but hardly found any, tats y I ask here...

if you are really thinking doing like that, then why dont just do a train trip, spending nights on the train instead of any hotels, that way could save you money.

you can try to look for something like
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunrise_Izumo

This are something i always wanted try to do, extremely fresh experience for me. There is a video for it.

Hi all

I will be going to Kyoto and Osaka for 5 days in May and will touch down at KIX.

I  am currently quite confused over the rail options. Since I am going to Kyoto first, should I buy the ICOCA+Haruka cards or should I buy the Japan Rail Pass?

If I buy the JR pass, have to buy Haruka also to go to Kyoto by train?
*
Get one icoca + haruka is good enough, haruka ticket varies by the station you are going to, e.g. Osaka will be cheaper compared to kyoto station.
Since you are focusing on Kyoto and Osaka, you should find Japan Rail Pass quite useless for you.
If your planned journey is more than around 2k yen, then you can go for Kansai Thru Pass KTP, 2 day pass cost 4k for all railway in kansai area, but not included reserved seat.

Hi im going to osaka, kyoto for 10 days. I did some research and was wondering if USJ is worth going. Anyone has experience on buying the ticket and what is your take on it.

And in Kyoto, I was wondering if any temple is worth going cause in Kyoto, it seems that theres a lot of temple and they said if you have been to one, it is sufficient cause it looks the same. I will go to Gion, kiyomizudera (eventhough they said they are renovating, im wondering if we can still visit around that area), fushimi inari, arashimaya, nara.

I felt that theres a lot more to do in osaka than kyoto. correct me if im wrong.

I will like your take on it if anyone has been there. this will be my first time heading there. Thanks. rclxms.gif

USJ is worth going, but the prerequisite is to get the premium ticket, else you will spend most of your day queuing up.

Not all temple are the same in Kyoto, there are Buddhist temple and Shinto temple, and each temple has its own concept as well. There are also some speciality with the temples. So if you have planned to go for temple visit, might as well put in a few more, of course you will have to do your own research on the temple itself before you go, or else you are like sightseeing only.

Osaka and Kyoto both have their own speciality.
Kyoto -> scenary,
Osaka -> food, shopping
