Hi All,

I am planning to Odaiba.
I go through study, I found that there are no subway and no JR operating at the area... Odaiba area are operate by private railway..

May I know is that possible walk from toyosu station?
*
extra note tho,
if ur in Shinjuku, u can reached Odaiba without changing train via JR train, but halfway thru, it become private/other line to Tokyo Teleport. so be careful.

there are few also like that, including Tokyo Metro which change to other line which im not sure if Metro day pass will cover it. example iinm, to Yokohama, which the metro line change into other line.

so need pro clarification bout pass on those sudden change line without changing train. in those case, i use Suica.

but those are rare case.

i had just return from my 2 weeks Tokyo-Kyoto trip. its was awesome, but few thing i would like to mentioned base on my journey.
alot of restoration happening around.
Asakusa Sensoji Pagoda has been encase (wrapped arround), Tokyo Tower top observation deck just got into renonvation, but mid one still available. Nikko Rennoji Temple has been encase as well, but u can pay to go in, n as bonus see their botak roof top on working stair case (no lift. 5th n 7th floor can be enter n observe their restoration works)
Nijo castle certain hall has been encase as well. some artwork (wall painting) has been moved for re-replication work.
Kyoto temple; Yasaka n Kiyomizu (temple hall) also suffer the same.

mostly all due for Tokyo Olympic.
for my 1st time, it was ok.

But the web site no says anything about collect n drop off at Penang airport? Did I miss it?

Which translator app to install Japanese <-> English?
*
https://www.travelrecommends.com/Home/Locate_Us
see the Penang one.
when u book that time, it will ask u if u wan it thru postage or self collect at specific airport.
then drop off that time u wan to post back to them or drop it off at specific airport.
do check their business hour, 6am to 11pm.
got back my deposit after 2-3days working hours.

translator, use google translate lo. but rarely use. if makan, ask for ei-ko menu (english menu) n if no available, point at picture or the waiter is nice enough to roughly guide u. otherwise tarak comment.

day 2 then im stumped on where is better, northern or southern side. northern side would be Arashiyama but pretty far compared to south which will be Fushimi Inari Shrine
*
whole day? if Fushimi Inari, where u plan to go after that? it took me 2 hours++ to go up the top of the hill n down around the hill/path. not sure if u wan to do half/full day there.
i did Fushimi Inari (early in the morning since its doesnt close, at 5-6am), then to Uji until noon, b4 heading Nara n back to Kyoto.

Arashiyama has alot place to cover. Which is great to cover for whole day. Bamboo Groove n Togetsukyo Bridge doesnt close, so u can go there early to avoid crowd. 7am is great to start at Arashiyama, Tenruji i think open around 9am.

Arashiyama rather far than downtown Kyoto, def will full day if going there

but Fushimi Inari, worth heading up in winter? laugh.gif its nearer as well
*
never been there in winter so cant comment much.
where u plan to go next after Fushimi Inari?
n on 1st day, y not head Kiyomizudera, then lunch along Sanenzaka n Ninenzaka while heading toward Yasaka? tho skip Kiyomizudera if u go there on January, the main hall are undergo major reconstruction. http://www.japan-guide.com/event/construction.html

yeah i checked japan-guide too, Kiyomizudera temple undergoing renovations atm so its off limits. so will be walking around that area only. lunch most prolly around Kyoto Station, heard lots of good ones albeit pricey

whats next after Fushimi Inari? not sure, there are street stalls around there we can visit and lots of wandering about i suppose. climbing to peak should take most of the time

if youre asking about whats on next day, most likely visit Imperial palace before heading to Osaka
*
i dun think there anything much around Fushimi Inari. as i mentioned b4, i cramp Fushimi Inari, Uji n Nara in a day trip. so basically i went there b4 sunrise n left b4 any store opens.

if u goin Kyoto Imperial Palace, i would suggest u can try to visit Kamogawa Delta. u can stop at Demachi Yanagi Station (Keihan line) n visit Kamogawa Delta b4 proceed to Kyoto Imperial Palace.

going next week
going odaiba for rainbow bridge, gundam and shopping
i checked the time but will not aim it because hard to aim at the timing, plus just head moving
will see if we're lucky to witness it
*
remove for upgrade. for more movable part option. in a way, its goin to move more. time will tell they will use it for war.

the head moving was accompanied with short animation. its mention got 2 type, if u going for both, iinm both almost the same with lighting show n moving head. the animation shown on diver city big screen is different for both (7,8,9pm n 7.30,8.30pm iinm) short chibi gundam related anime, n the other is gundam ads. n yea i stay for both.
watch 1st one, around for 10mins, rush to snap night rainbow bridge, n rush back for the others.

Guess I'll need to check again on the train services. So moving around Tokyo, Suica/Pasmo card is the best option? hmm.gif
*
if u plan it well, u can get 600yen 24 hours specific pass. i used twice 24hr Tokyo Metro Pass, while Suica all the way the rest.

Is there a need to buy Tokyo Metro Pass when you already have Suica? I thought Suica/Pasmo can be used for all transporation within Tokyo??
*
the trip that require u to go out more than 4 stations tat u can use in 1 particular train/sub company (Toei or Tokyo Metro)

on 1 of my day, i commute from Nakano-Sakaue (staying there) to Tsukiji, to Ginza to Tokyo Station to Shibuya to Shinjuku (meet up with my brother) then to Nakano-Sakaue.
since im using purely Tokyo Metro, n if the price im using more than 600 yen, i will save money by using the 24hr pass.

most of the day i use suica due to price commute doesnt exceed more than 600 yen (or the pass price) n require me to change train/sub provider.

Quick question....I'm getting the All Nikko Pass (4days). Does this pass includes ride on buses from Nikko Station to Lake Chuzenji? And how should I put the sequence...go to Kegon falls first or Lake Chuzenji? This two places is near to each other and walkable right?
*
if its >4k yen, n its Tobu company. it cover toward Chuzenji area n more. tho i din use em, i did research on it, in the end i din since my JR pass still active. its good as it cover from Ueno (iinm) to Nikko n unlimited train/bus (Tobu) ride.

if u dun need tix for Tokyo > Nikko, i think there is return pass to Chuzenji Onsen > Nikko. 1 time only.

Kegon falls is walking distant to main Chuzenji Lake bus stop. Left is Chuzenji lake (u cant miss it) on the right is Kegon Fall (assuming u face the mountain from the bus stop). i would suggest Kegon Fall 1st as u need to queue up n buy tix if u want to take the lift or view from the top (free but with limited view on the side).

if u want go for more, Ryuzu Fall is nice too. (the furthest i goes during my Nikko trip, cant complain since it unplanned day trip)

Is it expensive or the same?
*
price pretty much the same, around >3k yen for omakase 10 type sushi with 2 roll or something. (omakase mean sushi chef will make watever they got from the catch market but some allow u to make 2 order or else if they find u dun understand, they will sometime pick the femes pick aka otoro/chutoro usually on that)

just pick whichever the price fit u. it listed on their stall stand. bout the taste, din personally taste each of every stall, so cant comment much. some ppl say its sushi so basically almost the same, other say cut is important. but for me it taste good. (i din join the hype, i picked the one with lesser queue, but not the one without ppl tho biggrin.gif )

Belphegor i try to plan as below:-

1 HK airport transit
2 reach Narita> Shibuya -> Harajuku> shinjuku ( night) <-- 1 day enough??? not much of shopping for me..
3 Tsukiji>Ginza >
4 Day trip to hokane (whole day) and over night at yokohama
5 Explore yokohama --> back to asakusa at night
6 Tokyo tower/Roppongi
7 Asakusa
8 Akihabara > Ueno
9 Day trip to Odaiba(whole day)
10 Check out head to Airport( morning flight)

I skip kawaguchiko since not much activities compare to Hakone
Question: shall i visit chiba? if i have free time.
*
instead of Yokohama, like ppl say, head to Kamakura+Inoshima instead.
But if u insist on Yokohama, u can try Chinatown, Osanbashi Pier, Redbrick storehouse, Cup noodle museum.
Landmark n Marine tower or even Aqua museum. i din personally went inside Landmark n Marine tower, just outside. din went to Aqua museum due to distance.
overall, i find Kamakura is more fun than Yokohama.

Question to all
How should I spend my time in Kamakura vs enoshima? Planning to take Jr to Kamakura estimate reach there at 8am  spend 5 hours there n go to enoshima until 8pm and goes back to Tokyo.. Enough? Or should I spend more in Kamakura?
*
i did one day on em. no time estimation, depending on ur pace (reached there prox 8am), i did Engaku-ji>Kencho-ji>Hachiman-gu>Great Buddha>Hase-dera>Enoshima, more time spent on Kamakura tho.
u can cheat abit on Enoshima with eno-pass with escalator passes (can go up via escalator). then only visit em slowly when goin down the stairs. im grateful for it coz im really tired at Enoshima in the end.
do wait for the sunset on the bridge. its beautiful.

Anybody went to Nikko area? Is it recommended and convenient to go there? Looking at kanmangafuchi abyss + kegon/ryuuzen waterfall in day trip.
*
depend on where u going from n which pass u have.
i think 4 days Nikko pass is the best ( http://www.tobu.co.jp/foreign/en/pass/all.html ). it cover unlimited bus ride to Kegon/Ryuzu fall n the train from Asakura (i think) are slightly slower than JR's bullet train. (i took JR coz my JR passes still valid but it doesnt cover the bus to Chuzenji Lake area)

y Tobu 4 day nikko pass , coz bus to from Nikko station to Ryuzu fall coz more than 1k yen (pertrip). Kegon arent tat expensive. Kegon Fall is on walking distant from Chuzenji Onsen bus station. google for kanmangafuchi abyss nearby station. i was fusfrated with the jam (went there on weekend), i drop off early n manage to go faster than the bus pace.

if u worry, just head to Tokyo tourist centre n grab a brochure for it. it tell u time table n price for it.

I read up on Nikko.. Is it almost same as Kamakura?
*
Been to both, both give different feeling.
Nikko on high terrain (iinm 1000ft above sea level), Kamakura is near sea.
Nikko hard to travel around, mostly has commute thru buses; Kamakura go plenty of train service, so u dun need to worry bout traffic jam delaying ur schedule.
Nikko temple are cluster together, but i think u should not neglect to go further to Chuzenji Lake area; Kamakura temple is kinda scatter around but mostly within walking distance from train station.
if u gotta choose 1, Kamakura is closer, travelling to Nikko take about 2 hours from Tokyo.

Guys, need a few opinions/feedbacks

1. Alot of review of osaka castle is overrated - especially going in. But since i will be for spring, just wanna go take pictures of cherry blossom and not going in.

2. What time does shops/department shops/eateries close in Shinbashi and Dotonbori?

3. Any suggestion for what to do if we arrived around 5pm in Osaka? I planned Harukas 300 deck to see sunset and night lights of Osaka and then dinner in Dotonbori and walk shinbashi shops. (If they dont close around 9pm)

4. For osaka/kyoto which attraction for you is overrated? Or which attraction i would prefer to spend more time.
*
1. the notable mention is the top floor observation floor, where u can see the surrounding. other than that, its museum n historical stuff. nothing much mentioning.

4. i would spend more time at Kyoto, for the nature n historical building/temple.
