the Shurangama Sutra says:

QUOTE
>"Ananda, let any living being of any country in any world copy out
this
>Mantra in writing on materials native to his region, such as birch
bark,
>pattra, plain paper, or white cotton cloth, and store it in a pouch
>containing incense. If that person wears the pouch on his body, or if
he
>keeps a copy in his home, then you should know that even if he
understands
>so little that he cannot recite it from memory, he will not be harmed
by
>any poison during his entire life.

Shurangama Mantra amulet can be found easily these days at the temples, go get one if you want a good protection.

In Majjhima Nikaya Sutta 3, Dhammadayada Sutta, the Buddha emphasize on inherit the teachings, rather than material things.

yes correct, Dharma Protectors 护法神 will protect those who practise the Dharma (note that the holy books of other religions are also considered the Dharma by the Buddhas), so we dont really need material things for protection, moreover amulets things were never taught by the Buddha.

but we also cannot simply write off the power of amulets, a lot of people were unharmed in car accident and found their amulet broken into half or shattered inside the cover, i have a friend he visited Sydney Old Town, he took a picture of himself in an old head-chopping board, when he came back his amulet broke into half exactly at the head of the Buddha.

lol, you are not chinese? how come cannot understand chinese english.

he had a picture taken in the head cutting stand, you know in ancient time the criminals were executed in this stand, where they lock the hands and head on the same level and release a big sharp knife from the top to cut off the head, after that he found his amulet broke into two pieces, head and body.
