Siri makes its debut on Mac, with new capabilities designed just for the desktop. And that’s not the only way your Mac is smarter. macOS Sierra helps you rediscover your best photos, shop faster and more conveniently online, and work more seamlessly between devices. It can also help free up valuable storage space. Now your Mac does even more for you, so you can do more with your Mac.

Downloaded 3 times already still unable to install upgrade. Some message from the installer "this installation file is damage and unable to install". Read a suggestion to delete .plist from the package and the installer started but later another msg pop-up "unable to install to this machine 'null'".

This will be the 4th iteration of Mac OSX / MacOS that I have come by with my 13" mid-2012 MBA. Managed to install the last 3 iteration easily but not this one. Any take?

A lot of traffic going through Mac App Store for the download. Took a while myself to download it on a 100mbps line, but at the same time, I can download anything off torrents at blazing speed. Might as well you wait for a couple of weeks when things are more stable.

had similar issue with El Capitan last year so just waited out - 2 months later all well (tried to El Cap on first week of release) so will wait a bit before trying for Sierra.

BTW, which data - Green, Blue or Yellow?

Haha damn that green. 16gigs of Spotify 😢 I always cannot finish hahaha. But I spend most of my time in Australia also. So my Spotify is always being used. But now. I need to second guess myself if I should continue paying 14.90 for it. I already have Tidal, Google Play Music/YouTube Red and Apple Music subscriptions sad.gif

few days using MacOs Sierra is great. No problem so far. Everything is very smooth.

Disabled spotlight to get longer battery life on my Macbook Air 11".

Eventhough I didn't clean install, everything still run very smooth. So I don't think lag can be solved with fresh install. I believe something wrong with the Mac spec not compatible with MacOs Sierra.

I have downloaded since last week. Did an upgrade rather than a clean install, just was lazy but fortunately, all went well without any hiccups. All my installed apps appears to work just fine.

No lagging issues or whatsoever thus far.

Only issue I got with Sierra is Siri didn't work quite right out of the box. I didn't do a clean install. Too focking lazy to 😂 Siri had to be set up again in order to work again.

nowdays tech allready limit ..So apple may focus on optimization rather then hardware.

1. Just for excel you need super quad /hexa core ?
2. 8 gb ram ddr3 for more enough if in 2010 till now.. 16gb if for real scratch disk
3. Proc may good a little bit but those tiny fraction wouldn't see in consumer. I do prefer xeon ..
4. We need to reduce junkyard 3 years new pc / laptop depreciation sweat.gif

Does Sierra have slow wake up times? On El Capitan when i put my notebook lid down for some time about 30 minutes when i open up the screen shows but i can't move mouse or do anything for about 10 seconds. Previously on Yosemite didn't have this problem. Does Sierra have this problem too?

just wondering, is it ok to continuously plug my laptop with charger all the time? So that my battery count will be lesser as it shows there "Power Source" so i assume its not using consuming my battery thus it will not increase the battery counts?

just wondering, is it ok to continuously plug my laptop with charger all the time? So that my battery count will be lesser as it shows there "Power Source" so i assume its not using consuming my battery thus it will not increase the battery counts?
*
Yes and No. Yes if you keep plugged in battery count cycle will be very low, but for protecting the battery then no. It will still deteriorate over time and even with low cycle the battery will still need replacement.

Mine still nags to update but afraid some old programs might not work like old Photoshop. I just wish they stop with that different password requirements for this and that repeated every 15+ mins.
Is the new OSX browser still vulnerable to malaysia adware popups? The settings in safari does not help at all.

Imo just use as how you like , my battery died recently after about 6 years and 90% of time i use it plugged in, 10% on
Battery itself. It died on the 205 cycle shown on coconut batt.
So if you asked me i am satisfied the battery can last me that many years lol.

I think since Yosemite, a standalone installation of legacy Java is needed to run AI. That is unless you upgraded in place which might have Java intact. Not entirely sure about that.

Clean install everytime if there is time. Lion disk maker is always there to help.

You can only upgrade in place for so many times before some weird problems start appearing.

The main point is to not drain the battery unnecessarily. Keeping it topped up is the best for it's health.

If 10% of the time nets you 205 cycles, you must be some real heavy user. I had a batt that died on my in as little as 300 odd cycles, but heavy usage on and off the charger.

I agree, the cycle count doesn't dictate how the battery wears. Apple gave that 1000 charge cycle statement just to give you an estimation of how long it could last and they could have done it in a certain manner to get to that count. It can't be used to determine how your battery will last.

I've had issues in El Capitan before, I did a clean OS re-install with Sierra and the problems went away. Definitely is recommended if you have the time.

Time and some experience definitely. It is better to have a clean system than one that is upgraded in place. Generally, i feel it performs faster too.

Just the extra hassle of setting things back up again. Generally, i can do a clean installation with all the apps i need in under one half hours on a speedy machine not counting time to backup and restore.

Clean install macOS Sierra 10.12 and upgrade to 10.12.4 (16E195).
Tap to click does not work on login screen.
Night shift feature is working.

A lot always mention 128gb is enough etc during the time of purchase but they will realize eventually it becomes the bottleneck.

Yeah, I was initially using 128Gb on my Macbook Pro and now using 256Gb on my Macbook. Definitely my next purchase has to have at least a minimum of 512Gb.

xcode is the annoying effect.. if you just left with 10 GB ..pretty critical.. buy memory card 128 GB.. when download put there..
Latest xcode you need to manually download instead of normal update xcode. vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

Certainly. 128gb has the worst usefulness. 256gb is Super minimum but at least usable. 512gb is a best spot.

I am using 512gb one which at least I have adequate free space to work with.
