By the way, this coming PC Fair is held at KLCC? I know this question may sound noob, but I'm not familiar with PC Fair and KL areas; is this KLCC the one I can get to via LRT?

I mean, for instance, from Bangsar LRT to KLCC... then I can get to the PC Fair?
*
Yes, when you arrive at KLCC, head towards the Convention Centre. If you get lost, just ask the numerous security officers hanging around smile.gif

^ Its a both DECT n Skype phone..
For the skype functions.. all u need to do is plug in the USB dongle to ur Pc.. then u can use the same phone to make skype calls from ur PC's internet connection..  via BT (50m or less)

Its not like a ATA device that you connect to a normal DEL point to make skype calls.
*
Hi Shumaky,
Thanks for the explanation. I was about to email Vex's comment to Aztech. tongue.gif

Hi Vex,
The Aztech ad at http://www.vmcc.com.my/forums/viewtopic.php?t=210 is only for the HS315-S1.

You actually shocked me. ohmy.gif But thanks to you, i finally read what the Aztech skype, skype DECT and DECT phones are all about brows.gif

Vex, you referring to the PC.com ad at http://vmcc.com.my/forums/viewtopic.php?t=210, right?

For a sec, i thought you meant Aztech has only TEN skype DECT phones to sell at PC Fair doh.gif laugh.gif

if u read the point nomber 3,  Direct connection to broadband, no PC required, u should know this is not able to apply on this model, get it ?
*
I finally see your point of view. Read the whole ad in its proper context and pictures under header "Connecting to use Skype" - steps 1-3.

To me, it means i can dial direct to skype users using the Aztech Skype DECT phone instead of the cumbersome conventional way of having to be tied down to a PC use microphone and speakers then only can talk on Skype...

Hmmm, means i can talk for free in bed or bathroom, without adding to my mobile phone bill too! tongue.gif

Pretty cool! Thanks to you again, i will now get myself the Aztech skype DECT phone! I also got "low yah" corded phone to trade-in! nod.gif

no ... for the 10 unit Skype dect phone, i wonder how many it reserve for the PC.COM subscriber ? 10 ? 100 ?? or unlimited ?

PC.com said specifically at http://vmcc.com.my/forums/viewtopic.php?p=776#776
- * Terms and conditions apply. First-come-first-served basis. While stock lasts!
That's PC.com's prerogative and i guess they have to buy from Aztech (probably at a discount) to give away with PC.com's special subscription packages at PC Fair only.

Unless there is a merger between PC.com and Aztech i'm not aware of hmm.gif laugh.gif

Anyway, any further clarifications, please contact PC.com or Aztech directly.

u still dun understand ... pls read the brouchers from the aztech link.
there is 1 model no need PC to make SKYPE call, it is V500DS-S1 but not HS315-S1. me no energy to explain liao ...

OK, OK, i just read the PDF file... meaning, V500DS-S1 no need PC at all while HS315-S1 still need USB W-Fi Dongle connected to PC, only then can use Skype DECT phone talk wirelessly like mobile phone lah.

Can use ordinary line make free skype calls meh? Like this means, Telekom lose complete revenue on overseas calls which is not a bad idea! icon_idea.gif
I'm sure we still need to subscribe to an internet broadband. Maybe V500DS-S1 no need mah-fun use USB Wi-Fi Dongle that's all. I dunno. I don't even have a DECT phone to begin with tongue.gif

I will call Aztech tomorrow to ask what they mean by "Direct connection to broadband, no PC required" as seen on Aztech's ad at http://vmcc.com.my/forums/viewtopic.php?t=210. Then again, may be a bad time as tomorrow is the set-up for PC Fair already. Will get back to you as soon possible. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yet again.. I was rather dissapointed with PC Fair..
1stly .. the organizer or management - they said that the only enterance was from the 3rd floor, but however the big a$$ sign banner shows, level 3 u can enter n work ur way down and you can also enter from ground level to goto halls 3, 4, 5 n 6. Ive asked 3 persons (wearing suits n all staffs) all said i need to goto level 3.. so fine.. its 10.40.. i worked my way up.. n waited .. 11am came n i ran down to the pc.com booth which is 518. Upon reaching ground level. I was so pissed to see alot of ppl there... nope .. they didnt ran raster than me..they all got in thru the ground enterance , which those idiots said earlier that I can get thru.. WTF

2ndly.. this is really a crappy. Im already panting n pissed .. so I finally arrived to the damn 518 booth. Took the form.. n sign it up.. then I asked, where is the Aztech phone.. they farking show me a model which i think is not what they promised. In the VMCC page it shows that it will be an RM299 phone.. so one would guess that it will be the DECT+SKYPE HS315 thingy.. but the arsehole showed me a diff phone which is just cordless. I was like WTF..?? how can this phone be valued at RM299... Being felt that I got my a$$ raped by both the organizer n PC.CON, I crumpled the paper in front of the PC.CON guy.. what a blardy day

I'm sorry to read you had such a bad experience. I would be pissed too to be told enter from Level 3 and then to discover can also enter from Hall 4.

Re. your complaint about PC.com freebie given away not as advertised at VMCC website, we published the info sent to us word for word.

PC.com just replied it is the Aztech colour display DECT cordless phone model L115 retailed at RM299 which so happened to be the same price as the Aztech HS315-S1 Skype Dect phone. doh.gif The freebie model Aztech DECT Phone (L115) comes with SMS Feature. Visit http://www.aztech.com/retail_malaysia/dect.html

As such we have included the Aztech model number under PC.com's promos at the thread "Super Deals and Win Cool Prizes @ PIKOM PC Fair I, Visit Malaysia Cyber Campaign's Sponsors" at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/439659

Shumaky, i hope you have a brighter day tomorrow.

With love from VMCC sweat.gif

Ahyoh, i had to call PC.com just now and to double confirm, checked with Aztech too. It's the Aztech DECT Phone with SMS Feature (L115) as seen at http://www.aztech.com/retail_malaysia/dect.html

Shumaky (and even I) thought it was the Aztech HS315-S1 Skype Dect as both also same price. Luckily VMCC announced exact text given by PC.com and didn't modify it on assumption! ohmy.gif

Lets wait and see what PC.com has to say. How come price shown at Aztech's site (as pointed out by Vex) show only RM199 and PC.com published as worth RM299.

I dunno lah. Maybe price drop since PC.com first purchased them to be given away as freebies? I tend to give people the benefit of doubt till proven otherwise. <gentle smile>

Worth subscribing to PC.com compared to HWM la. thumbup.gif
No need to compare lah and run any magazine down... depending on the freebies that match your needs, you subscribe lor, agree or not? rolleyes.gif
Both PC.com and HWM also great magazines. Really. Why i say this? Both also support the Visit Malaysia Cyber Campaign (VMCC) in their magazines. See http://vmcc.com.my/in_the_media.php biggrin.gif

In addition to that, PC.com has been doing "National Service" by sponsoring full colour full page ads since last October 2006 to promote VMCC. PC.com subscribers here can verify this by checking past issues. And this sponsorship will continue till November 2007 issue. nod.gif

It is really not easy to run a national campaign on a shoe-string budget. VMCC is a people-led campaign, not funded by political parties and the likes. We are running this campaign not only to support Visit Malaysia Yearr 2007; we are also demonstrating in action, "Malaysia Boleh" in its proper perspective. I can write a loooong story on this. Instead, when you are free, have fun reading the answers to the Quiz - What's "Cyber Warrior@Work"? at http://vmcc.com.my/forums/viewtopic.php?t=241 flex.gif

We take this opportunity to thank the various media who has been supporting VMCC, esp HWM and PC.com since both magazines are mentioned on this thread. icon_rolleyes.gif

BTW, "various media" also includes everyone who have been sending VMCC e-cards to invite the world to visit Malaysia this year or by being a VMCC Link Partner - see http://vmcc.com.my/link_partners.php - do join us if you have a website, blog, or forum...

Errr, LYN Forum owners and moderators reading this... hint! hint! hint!... brows.gif

Have a good weekend, all. icon_rolleyes.gif

With love from VMCC
