Oh yeah I never mentioned this. I tried both wired (PC) and wireless (laptop), and both came up the same. Things would seem OK until you try to open a website. Even though when things seem to be stable and smooth, I can see the ping is still very high. And I'm testing all these while no one else is using the net, only me.

Well about the heat thing... I do turn the router off to let it rest everyday, so I guess it does have a decent cooldown. Though I don't think it could be a cause of it? Because my family rarely turned it off and it didn't affect anything. And this problem has started since about 2 weeks ago. :/

Could it be router failing? Any storm lightning in past few days weeks months? Anything else in the house got hit? Routers behind surge protector might survive, but since injured, I find that it fails sometime after that.

How did you type your PPPoE username?

Example: ninja@unifi or ninja@unifi.com

My friend applied to upgrade from 4Mbps Streamyx to 30Mbps YESTERDAY. Just got info that the Unifi installer came TODAY to upgrade his line.

Quite fast they come after him!

Yes. Absolutely can. I can guarantee that because I also had the exact same situation like yours.

My Unifi account is under my name, but my home old phone line is under my father's name. So I asked the operator whether I can keep the old line after I cancel the streamyx. She said can. I knew that the old line leasing fee could be waived if one registered Unifi account. So I asked her if I can apply that eventhough the old phone line is not under my name. She said can, as long as the address for both account are the same. After she keyed in something to their system, voila! Everything settle. I can enjoy my Unifi while my old folks still can use the old phone line to call, with only RM1 leasing fee per month. thumbup.gif

When you cancel your streamyx, make sure you tell them clear and loud about your request and make sure they do settle it on the spot for you.

I tried asking the csr handling my complaint to get unifi. She say cannot use back same number#$$__$#4_. Sigh.
But the new number looks good. My old streamyx had dedicated line. So I completely cut it. Still have one copper line for phone.

You may try TP-LINK Archer C7 AC1750. I heard it has great range and strong wifi signal.
By the way, anyone knows if the third party modem/router that I'm using for my streamyx now can replace the UniFi router?
*
If firmware/software allows you to customize one of the lan port into wan. Possible.

Some router native software have dual wan.

Or like for me. I was using a modem only device. Connect to wan (cat5) port of router.

So I reuse router. If Ur using phone line direct connect into combo modem/ router. Then Ur bet would be dual wan feature.

hi guys got a question... im moving to my new condo... the area around the condo already has unifi.. but the management informed me that the condo is still on streamyx... any idea how can we prompt tm to come and do the installation so that the condo can get unifi as well? i think they need to do something at the telecoms room right?

You're using 30Mbps too? Should I even consider a router that supports up to 5GHz? Or will 2.4Hz suffice? At my small company, TM guy came and changed our device to one that supports 5GHz. He said higher speed internet need it?

From my experience, Wireless AC does not go thru brick walls, concrete. Which ever way, your 2.4ghz will be very important.

Unless, your going to have multiple wireless AC point,(connected via ethernet cables) then serving the AC to the room.
