I am planning to upgrade my router. I am currently using tplink WDR4300. Anyone here using the Asus RT-ac68u? I heard it have overheating issue and drop connections on the 2.4ghz. I do have other alternative in mind like the TPlink C2600 or c3120. Need recommendation.

Budget and uses?

Budget not more than rm1000. Use for heavy movie streaming and competitive gaming. Dont need any fancy feature just need one that can handle 10 device simultaneously and strong wifi coverage for large house. Tired of my current router who drop packet randomly when 8 device connected.

I would recommend Asus RT-AC68U based on your budget and needs. AC1900 is the sweet spot right now.

I actually plan to buy AC87U...is there any issue with it?

Don't go for AC87 thats what i heard. Instead go AC88. Initially plan to go AC88 but is freaking expensive here.

not sure if they solved it with firmware update or not. Mostly issue about the 5ghz if you plan to use it. If not U are all good to get it.
U can read up on some of the amazon comments too.

Just keep the router in a ventilated area with proper airflow and for the drop connections I am not sure. Buy from a good seller and update firmware I guess. If it drops make sure the seller have a return option if faulty. But Asus is one of the more stable brand compared to others which I have experienced.

Any good router to replace the Dlink DIR-850L router? Asus?

Get asus rt-ac68u if your budget allow. If not , rt-ac66u. It does make a difference for me at least. No rubberbanding at all after getting this new router.
