I had to register again when I opened Grab app in my new phone today.
Like TS, I was surprised to see MSOS SMS saying RM1 will be charged. I received no prior notification about them testing the card with this RM1 transaction, and certainly no information on how whether it is ever going to be returned to me. It was only recently that I added a credit card to my Grab account and there was no testing whatsoever.

Now, I have PayPal and PayPal informed me very clearly about this "testing" with new CC, which I had no issue with. The issue with Grab Pay is that it does not tell you why they charge the RM1, and whether it will be refunded, how it is going to be refunded (will it be kept as store credit?) and when it is going to be refunded.

Remarks like "aiyah, only RM1", "No need to test card?", etc show how shallow people can be. And I am sure those who gave such remarks will think it is OK if their favourite establishment suddenly charges them RM1 first to test the card, when they pay with certain credit card without mentioning anything about it being refunded later. I don't know how you guys earn your money, but mine is earned the hard way and I try not to have mine stolen, even if it is just "mere" RM1.

It will be refunded to your cc itself.
If you use debit card, it will reverse the RM1 to your default debit card account (usually Savings acc)

Yup, I proceeded with the cc registration after googling and finding this thread. Still, you get the drift.

The "charged" amount. Or we call it authorisation amount was charge deduct under credit limit, and the rm1 will not appear at ur statement at all in ur life.
So whats the problem to decide how they refund and its all on the bank side.

Even dispute for cc happen, they will ask u to wait for statement listed the amount, then only fill dispute form.

In short, they just hold the money.

Really? I thought i read all replies say it will be refunded?
