hi all ..been using omd em10 for past 4 years..thinking to upgrade to another oly body or change system... i like the em10 small n light body and most time using the 25mm 1.8 lens . i am thinkin would it better to keep my em10 and get the 12-40 pro lens or shud i change the body to a newer model ? and later only get the lens ? any comments ?

many handphone now with very wide lens.

i dunno what the hype is about with wide angle.
yes they are useful but most of the time you take in so much field of view that unwanted clutters(rubbish, people, etc.) cannot be avoided.
you end up cropping and at the same time drop the IQ.
might as well shoot using longer focal length.

also many wide angle lenses are not sharp corner to corner and dun get me started with the vignetting.

pair the 7-14 with 12-100mm in your camera bag and your good to go! 

Anyone knows if Panasonic Malaysia do promotions or discounts for their lenses and cameras? Where to follow them? I look through their official website and FB, very little activity on photography section.

Welcome to the club. Good move on ignoring Mk3. Essentially the same camera, just a rehash with a new processor. Minor improvement in noise reduction, and controls. For the price, better Mk2.

Am having a feeling that someday you will sell off your other gear and go all out with m43. :-)

As for tricks, you need to take time to learn of its Menu system. Almost every button on the camera (including some of the Arrow keys) can be customized, so it is worth spending time to read the manual. I am still finding new gems on and off when I take time to explore the menu.

For custom settings, this is what I do:
1. Enable Super Control Panel
2. Enable Large SuperFine jpg
3. Turn Off noise reduction

One more thing, if you're sticking with the kit lens, the auto lens cap (LC 37C) is a very good accessory. In fact, it was due to the lens cap that made me like photography due to its convenience. No need to remove lens cap whenever you want ti shoot, and lens is always protected.

For a sub RM 500 telephoto lens, really cannot ask for anything more. At 40mm, it is ok but at the longest end, corners are soft and very prone to flare. But good enough for occasional tele shooter. Focus is reasonably fast in good light, though low light focus is not that good.

IMO, no point getting thr Olympus 40-150mm f2.8 unless you use it a lot. Between that and the new 12-200mm f3.5-6.3, I would probably get the new lens if I have to choose between them, or even perhaps the Olympus 75-300mm given the price difference.

Or we can all wait for the 100-400mm f4.5.

Compression would probably happens while uploading to Lowyat forum but what I have is before I upload my file is only a few hundred KB in file size! I have to test again soon i find the time. Maybe I didn't get the setting correctly

wan ask gx85 + 12-35 f2.8 vs a6500 + 18-105 f4, which one better for travel videos for food, night market, sceneries and some vlogs.

f2.8 vs f4 lens i think it would balance out the night shots.

Go with primes. When night fall, I always shoot with primes like 25mm f1.7 and 17mm f1.8. MFT lenses are really compact, so taking 1 or 2 extra lenses with you should not be a problem.

f2.8 lens will help in low light as will the bigger aps-c sensor.
so they balance each other out giving equal almost performance in low light according to the setup.

but the GM lens is so high res, more useful for A7Riii because of the 47mp

Not really. Depends on lens quality as well. FF lens can be cheaper than m43 cause it doesn't need to be sharper due to bigger pixel on FF if both have same mpixel. M43 lens can be more expensive cause the sharpness has to be very good on a smaller sensor with higher megapixel density.

Also u cannot compare f2.8 FF lens to f2.8 m43 lens. On equivalent bokehness, the f2.8 will look like f5.6 on FF. Yes, there will be less light but since it has much bigger sensor, it also collect more light than m43 so really it balance out.

I will get a FF if can get a super good deal for it. But for now none yet haha.

Pana 10-25 f1.7 will be the best all rounder lens. Wide angle to portrait length and good for low light.

Yes higher iso will lower the dynamic range.

Anyone has the 60mm f2.8? How is the lens so far? I'm not a macro shooter, but I got an offer for RM 800 for a used one. What do you guys think of the value for it?

I actually have a priority list of lenses to get (to prevent myself from succumbing to excessive GAS), and the Macro is the last on my list. However, it is still on the list. So now that RM 800 looks like a good price, so am considering lar.

My list actually goes like this:
1. The top of my list is actually the 10-25mm f1.7, but that lens oso not out yet leh.
2. Next is the Sigma 56mm f1.4, bu now is still expensive since it is new.
3. Next would be the Olympus 75-300mm, but that one no good offer yet.
4. So now considering the Oly 60mm lor.

Am planning to use the Oly 60mm as a portrait lens with a tighter crop for street photography where I can be a bit more discreet. Also, somehow I feel that 45mm still has a bit of distortion for very tight portrait shots like the classic head and shoulder, so 60mm should do the trick. These are my thoughts lar.
Ahh ok. But today's price of a new Oly 60mm is around RM 1450 or $350 so I guess price has come down a bit. Will go have a look this weekend on the condition of the lens.

Haha, no lar.. I won't be getting the 75mm as it is a very popular lens where the prices don't drop much. Hence am gping for the more affordable option. 😁

Hi Guys,

Anyone bought camera or lens from CamWorld?   I want to buy the 12-40mm Pro lens and they are selling it at RM2488 online when everyone else is selling higher than that, cheapest being RM2864.

I asked them about warranty and they say it's Olympus Malaysia warranty.   I asked if I purchase it online and self collect the next day at The Curve,  but they refused self collect even when I explain that I'm staying nearby.

The price is attractive but something about them doesn't seem right.   So, asking you guys before I purchase it.
Secondly, has anyone tried the Tokina 11-16mm  on Olympus with an adapter?   is it good?

BIG buggers are going from BIG to small and now the small is going into BIG, what an irony

the S1's grip isn't really that comfortable too. because the body already so thick, the grip isn't as deep as the G9's, i feel. So if your hand not very big then it feels very insecure to hold it in 1 hand (especially when you're pairing it with a huge-ass lens like the 50mm)
