Porcupine dates, Hao Zhu Zhao, 豪猪枣, (箭豬棗) , Batu Landak.

When my father was dying of cancer, a relative recommended taking porcupine dates. It was extremely expensive. After some research , I discovered that porcupine dates is not mentioned in the annals of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) at all. If you dont believe me, just ask the sellers who claim that it is used as a chinese medicine to show you exactly where porcupine dates is recorded in TCM.

From wikipedia.

Porcupine dates, Hao Zhu Zhao, 豪猪枣, (箭豬棗) , Batu Landak. Porcupine dates also known as porcupine gallstone or bezoar is an unproven folk remedy in Malaysia. The claim that it is a traditional Chinese medicine is NOT true. The materia medica of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) contains thousands of plants, animal parts and minerals. There is no mention of porcupine dates/gallstone/bezoar in the materia medica of TCM at all.

Sellers claim that porcupine bezoar is highly effective for treatment of various illnesses. This false claim is being perpetuated because the sale of porcupine bezoar is highly lucrative. The price of porcupine bezoar is bizarre, running up to tens of thousands of dollars for a porcupine bezoar the size of a plum.

According to TCM experts, there is no basis for the claims that porcupine bezoar is more effective than other traditional chinese medicine. There are thousands of traditional chinese medicines, so when any item is unavailable, it can always be replaced with other medicines with similar effects.
