Do our Navy currently train against a scenario where Layang Layang is attacked by China's navy....
*
not navy but the air force will be "first responder" if any shit happens that includes the evac of its civilian population on the island

the maritime strike aircraft flying from kk/labuan will act first, then the navy turn cuz it takes a while for ships to go anywhere

shit gone real, sk coast guard boat sunk by prc fishing boat

QUOTE
Chinese fishing boats sink a Korean coast guard vessel

South Korea on Sunday filed a protest against China after two Chinese boats illegally fishing in Korean waters sank a Korean coast guard boat in their attempt to flee.

According to Incheon Coast Guard, the vessels, assumed to be 100-plus ton steel ships, on Friday deliberately crashed into an Incheon coastguard’s 4.5-ton speed boat, which was patrolling the area for illegal fishing in waters off Incheon in the western side of the peninsula, and fled the scene.

A 50-year-old marine officer fell into the water and was rescued by a nearby patrol boat. No others were injured.

The Foreign Ministry in Seoul filed a formal complaint to Beijing’s consul-general after the Coast Guard condemned the incident earlier Sunday

I see on discovery channel M1 Abrams crew interview said for each 1 hour they are operating, they spend 3 hours repair and servicing the tank.
They even say although outer tank armor is steel, its insides may well be made of glass due to the high rate of something always breaking.
Typical experience with tankers? laugh.gif
*
1:3 hours ratio for vehicle like tanks is pretty okay

aircraft even need more maintenance hour
like c5 galaxy have ratio of 1:46 hours
but c5 is like one of the worst plane to maintain

I hear also not all highways can be used by jet planes. They need to be especially built with a concrete base and easily removable guardrails and dividers. Also supplies and fuel are pre-positioned nearby, ready to be used by the planes.

A good military intelligence body can probably easily guess where these runway highways are located at and act accordingly.
*
yup, need to upgrade with concrete base, movable barrier and most important replace the asphalt if not for sure melted under the intense jet engine heat

you cant just pick a long straight road to be a landing strip just like that and it also need extra space for the crew & equipment
emergency landing can lar and some russian jets are specially made with unprepared landing strip takeoff/landing capability

you do know that a380 just because its big its actually does not need any "special needs" to runway requirements
it can land and takeoff at shorter distance than even some contemporary wide-body aircraft even at max weight
so an airport that can already support a wide-body aircraft is ady can support the a380

He gotto try 72km with full battle kit and 13 mag of live rounds, and then decides on the idea of carrying rounds after rounds of rockets. biggrin.gif
*
if its ady in their combat load why not? beside most of the time msian army marched carrying their whole camping grounds anyway with loads up to 50kg and plus 10-20kg more if you are the radioman

also since when a soldiers comfort is even remotely considered to the command? if they told you to march 100km, you march 100km no question asked puke.gif

Bang I'm sure Msian soldiers can even carry their whole armory with them for a 100 km march if instructed  laugh.gif but we are talking here about the practicality of excessive weight in real combat environment. How many rounds of munitions can a section of foot soldiers carry besides their standard gear without affecting their fighting ability.
*
in real combat environment of course they dont fight with their 50kg marching load on their backs lol that would be suicidal
in typical situation their combat load is only the weapons, ammo (up to their operational requirement) and a little rations (only for emergency)
any other non-essential things like camping gear and the kitchen will be stashed at their designated campsite in the operation area

the msian army is still a very much a jungle warfighter at its core so the mobility in the jungle is still a paramount importance

276. The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) will be allocated a sum of
RM15.1 billion. Of which, a sum of RM1.8 billion is provided for
defence asset maintenance such as aircraft, patrol vessels,
communication equipment, buildings and weaponry. The ATM will
be equipped with patrol vessels and 8x8 armoured vehicles.

277. In addition, a sum of RM1.3 billion is allocated, among others
for communication devices, rations and uniforms.

278. To enhance effectiveness of ESSZONE operations, a sum of
RM323 million is allocated for personnel deployment at the eastern
border of Sabah.

What was last year budget anyway?
*
budget 2016 is rm17.3bil
budget 2017 is rm15.1bil
so major cut wor of about 12%

the naresuan-class frigate is one example
chinese hull with western harpoon, essm and engine

the changes made cuz the ship have terrible quality issue that plagued the 90s era chinese shipyard substandard production
though later the shipyards quickly improved and thai navy are confident enough to order more naresuan ships from them

According to wiki we have around 100 ship and sub launched versions. From the looks of it India perhaps have more Exocets than the French.
We also need some shore-based anti-ship missiles.
user posted image
*
if shit hits the fan the navy could convert the exocets to land-based missile, like what the argies did in falkland war
