QUOTE(MoonRider @ Oct 12 2016, 03:36 PM) if you apply last week.. enough points 145.. inz only change the policy on tuesday from 140 points to 160 points are you married? if yes spouse degree holders? I was planning to apply this week, and just got the news that bar has been raised to 160 points. Single with degree, and 6 years working experience. No idea why married has a bigger advantage than single...

QUOTE(Adri Lim @ Nov 15 2016, 11:07 AM) Sharing my own opinion only. Visited the country before and met up with 2 ex-Malaysian friends there. One was engineering industry from Malaysia the other graduated from NZ and stayed to start a business there. The engineering fella .... sorry la. No life, man. Businessman visit Malaysia twice a year. Most shops closed by 6 pm. Aiyoh ... sorrowful. Nice seafood and air quality - Auckland. I rather visit than emigrate there. haha, i see i'd rather have a totally monotonous mundane life, but very peaceful and safe.... and trust me, i really value solitude

I've been researched regarding the topic I have mentioned in my title above, my concern is do we really need a skill in demand in order to migrate to New Zealand? I know that they are implemented the point system, which you are allowed to apply PR when you have 160 points on hand.
I've recently graduated from University, with a Bachelor degree in Mass Communication major in Marketing Communication (Which does not really needed in New Zealand). , with some working experiences as a supervisor during my semester break few years ago.
According to my research, New Zealand immigration concept's website mentioned that the skills in the following areas are generally in demand in New Zealand:
- Agriculture & Forestry - Construction - Education - Engineering - Finance & Business - Health & Social Services - ICT & Electronics - Oil & Gas - Recreation, Hospitality & Tourism - Science - Telecommunications - Trades - Transport
Furthermore, since my qualification does not fulfil what New Zealand's demand, I however, have personally invited a web developer (Under ICT skill category) who has a several years industry experiences to conduct a 4 months lesson for me, I'll then go and find a short course and complete it. In addition, I am also planning to take IELTS for better command in English in order to have a better opportunity and skills to apply PR in future.

Did you manage to keep your original citizenship? I'm thinking about taking up the citizenship at some point in time... but, unsure of what to do with my present one.
