Well, I hope you learned your lesson. Never trust these kind of people! shakehead.gif
Buy directly from Dell, you fork out a large sum of money for your laptop and it's really not worth it if the quality is compromised. Now things start to become more complicated rclxub.gif I really hope Dell will repair your laptop. nod.gif
Good luck to you.

juz hope that the processor(T2300) is the ori spec that was stated in the invoice .

Dude,

First I would suggest you to call dell to claim warranty.
Second if this fails get the support of the seller to do that for you.
Third, dell quality a bit sucks, if you can utilize the warranty as the second owner get the owner a letter stating that he has sold/or given to you the unit.

Please upgrade the warranty due to you already start facing problem.
I don't see any problem if you able to contact seller and sort things out with him.
If your approach is considerate, I believe the seller is considerate to help you to lessen your woes.

I dunno why why second owner was unable to utilize the warranty, that is just stupid of Dell. I never found that kinda problem with HP. You just come to the service center and send the unit. Simple.

Id sure you have a lot of sifus here trying to help you out, be patient.
Even buying a new one could be problematic if you that kinda bad luck.
Regarding the DVD Drive, please try those Imation DVD/CD and see if works.
Some of the brand of DVD drive are just stupid (especially notebooks drives) and I have encountered a few one that does not work well with few disc.

Wish you all the best, cheers.

The problems y the 2nd owner was unable to utilize the warranty is bcoz , it might b a stolen unit ... ur wording r shakehead.gif shakehead.gif ridiculous .. blame ppl , blame dell shakehead.gif shakehead.gif and ur recommended solution are also shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

have u ever think of , if the unit is stolen and dell provided the service on it , wat action will the original owner take against dell ??? whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

so next time , don ever buy second hand notebook if the transfer of ownership didnt done on the spot icon_idea.gif

wow. i tried calling dell service centre already, they told me the first thing i need to do is transfer ownership to me, as the original owner of this laptop according to dell is under a company. i'd need to provide them with a proof of  purchase issued by that company. but the receipt i was issued was under another company so they dont accept that.

this laptop is still under complete cover, although i dont think there are any service tag stickers under the laptop.

dell even told me that without verifying ownership they wont even come to service the laptop, even if i'm willing to pay for it.

TERRIBLE indeed. if this is not resolved by next week i'll definitely ask for a refund and buy another laptop instead. cos besides the keyboard, everything else is working fine. the dvd drive problem was fixed as once when i started the laptop, BIOS told me that it may be loose so all i did was push the drive deeper into the unit and hey presto! the drive was working again.. keyboard replacement will cost me rm280 at lowyat plaza.. so i might ask for seller to cover this cost if he's not willing to do full refund..

it is true that dell wont bother u if u fail to show proof of purchase from the original seller ,

contact the seller immediately or else , u really need to bear with this notebook.

Transfer of ownership is not practical at all in your case. You probably will lose the extra warranty plan bought by the previous owner by doing it, need to re-purchase again.

Best thing is, call up Dell, upon request, provide them the Service tag and previous owner name. They will proceed with RMA and send a technician to your house. Simple as that.

They won't insist on invoice or receipt, a lot of people would had thrown these away with the box.
They won't have a check on your IC number, don't worry.

Another thing, if u want it to be your name for ownership at the first place, you should pay the extra 1k to 2k+ for a new one instead. Sad to say that, Dell is practicing the same rules as buysell car, this can avoid a lot of RMA warranty request and reduce the RMA cost.

I seldom see people will use the same laptop until the end of it's lifespan.

RMA

BULL SHIT shakehead.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

u wont loss anything by doing so . losing of extra warranty ? ur warranty still the same even u do ownership transfer .

If u dunno anything bout it , juz remain silent . simple as that . whistling.gif whistling.gif shocking.gif

it is possible man and it is practical

Bcoz it is previously owned by a company , and if u save the hassle not to do ownership transfer , u r same like buying stolen goods as the ownership not yet transfered to u . It is still under other ppl name.

ppl thrown away invoices or receipt ? it is bcoz he/she is the original owner and he/she can prove it in many ways

dell wont ask for IC ? yes , they wont . But if u r look like suspicious , they will ask for any verification.
