I've been inside Bank Negara before for a field trip.
One of my lecturers said if you work with Bank Negara, you might find it hard to switch to another firm. It seems he said that fresh grads working at Bank Negara are sort of "untouchable" (no one will want you). |

QUOTE(xengtjun @ Jan 28 2007, 09:01 PM) i work there...nearly 1.5 years now... It is kind of unfair with the clause of untouchable. You need to be 6 monthx jobless first before you can apply new job if you want to stay in financial field lotsa different perspectives on ppl who work in BNM.. got it's pros and cons certainly...and it shifts depending on which department u work at and wat u want... basically... 1.If u want money money money...then it ain't the place... 2.If u want job satisfaction with a balanced work life..it's great Unrivalled benefits... 3.The stuff u do in BNM, u won't get to do it other places...there's only one central bank in each country... about being untouchable.... there is a silent clause that says you are not supposed to work in any Financial Institutions is under the jurisdiction of BAFIA (banking and financial institutions act)..so tat cuts out most banks and insuracne companies...however ur free to find a job under the jurisdication of the securities comission.. however, this silent clause is only applicable 6 months after u resign...after that ur a free man... ppl do get symptoms of being too comfortable in a place...and in my opinion...once ur feeling too cmofortable...it's dangerous cos u lose ur drive! this does not apply only in BNM but also in any other organizations... |

Do they have a real muhibbah thing going on, or is it staffed with the same ethnic constitution like other govt depts/agencies? |

QUOTE(xengtjun @ Feb 6 2007, 11:16 PM) u can easily apply for BNM thru it's website. www.bnm.gov.my xengtjun.. which dept r u?and don't worry...even though the place is swarming with bank negara scholars which graduated from impressive universities, paper qualification is not the only thing they look at. so if u didnt get first class, don't freak out yet, u still stand a chance. if ur really interested to know more/and the truth just pm me...i'd be glad to share my experience.. i just want ppl to know tat BNM is not unreachable and there is a lot of misconceptions out there about it... i'm a chinese, local grad, freshie, non-first class (a couple of D's even), non scholar and i got in.. never believe wat rumours say until u see/hear it for yourself.. if u keep looking for the "best" place to work... i doubt u'll ever find it in ur lifetime... for those who do...hats off to you...for the others like us..life goes on... |

QUOTE(boo82 @ Mar 2 2010, 05:36 PM) xengtjun, can you tell us briefly the benefit like loans, EPF and etc? I think I can answer some of your question..BNM blocked Youtube, Friendster. Facebook, Twitter is allowed but will be given low priority during office hour. btw, does BNM applies a very strict internet policy like cannot use yahoo/msn and etc? Not all staff will have an internet access. It depend on your level (Exec, Senior Exec etc) YM/MSN clienti'm not sure can be use or not. But you can use Meebo, Yahoo Web Messenger, etc. |
