I got the feeling his motogp career is finished... don't recall any rider injured and away > 1 year, return and competitive again.
*
Bad news, I hope he can still recover. He is still so young, it's a pity if his career ends so soon while he is still undoubtedly the best of this era and arguably the GOAT.

Feels like Doohan all over again

Dominant but retired 2 soon rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Doohan case not too bad coz he was already in the mid 30s of not mistaken. MM still in his mid 20s!

More bad news for MM coz he apparently has been having some infection too from that earlier operation.

I get the feeling that MM is not the type to stay still, so resting does not sit well with him. Probably the kind of person that likes to poke and scratch the stitches and walk, jump and run around every few minutes. That will definitely prolong the recovery time.
*
Yeah I suspect so too, surely a very active type of guy. He should learn his lesson from this experience.

I have no idea Biaggi's shit talking would end up biting him back & damaging his career. What could've been...
*
QUOTE(Aydee @ Feb 22 2021, 10:46 AM)
He always talk big. I remember when he was on the Yamaha, he always complain that Rossi had the superior bike when Rossi keep beating him on the Honda, then he switched to Honda in 03 and Rossi switched to Yamaha, Rossi still kept beating him. He shut up about which bike was superior after that laugh.gif  laugh.gif .
*
Biaggi was an overrated big mouth. Quite fast but not in the same league of the true big guns like Doohan, Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo, or Marquez.

QUOTE(Aydee @ Feb 24 2021, 03:08 PM)
So sad. I believe first Covid related fatality in MotoGP? Rossi and the other can consider themselves very lucky.
*
Rossi is a fit world class athlete while Gressini is a 60 yr old man, big difference in strength and fitness.

QUOTE(skylinelover @ Feb 25 2021, 09:25 PM)
Rossi is the superior pilot till the late Nicky crashed the party cool2.gif cool2.gif
*
That season was Rossi's biggest mistake. He did have some technical dnf but ultimately he only had himself to blame for losing to Nicky. Nicky didn't win it but Rossi lost it and gave it away basically.

Yeah true, no change in the top standings as neither Rossi or Marquez won and Lorenzo is not even racing anymore but the graphics show who dominates and who are the protagonists at each era. I notice the Lawson, Gardner, Rainey era those 3 are regularly swapping wins and almost competitively equal. Now I remember I started becoming a MotoGP fan because of those 3, particularly Lawson nicknamed Steady Eddie.
*
I started following gp500 during Rainey, Schwantz, Doohan era. Was quite sad when Rainey broke his back and crippled.

Part of motorsports

Cant do anything

At least he still breathing today 2 tell his great story of late 80s to early 90s! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

You never follow the pre-rainey/schwartz guys like lawson roberts senior mamola etc? hmm.gif hmm.gif
*
Nope cuz no TV broadcast for racing that time in Indonesia. I only started watching motorsports once they're available on TV. I was following football, badminton, and tennis before that.

As always, Rossi probably testing race pace rather than outright speed. And curiously, MM not around for the test.
*
I only hope VR can just steal a few wins, that should be good enough.

As for MM, he only started testing some souped up street version of his bike. I hope he recovers soon.

Likely to race part-time as replacement/wildcard rider.

What a shame. I don't want him to win but not this way.
*
Bad news, hope he can completely recover soon to return for full time racing. MotoGP needs its best rider.

Yamaha looking good and VR being cheeky to tail gun FB to get up to 4th. But great lap by FB to get pole by a good margin but I think the win will be among the Yamaha guys.

Another good race! The Ducs is really a missile! Good for MV that he can win and beat FQ comprehensively. Good for Suzuki also that they are pretty close despite lacking acceleration, bodes well for twisty tracks. Just wondering why Petronas were so slow!

Just realised the race is on the same track again! Anyone know why?

Petronas seems in trouble with Morbi engine problems while Rossi just going backwards and slow!

As much as I respect VR46... But I think it's time for him to retire if he couldn't improve racing position in another 2 - 3 GP...
*
Yeah disaster Q for, I cannot remember for the longest of time when he qualified 2nd from last! He looked lost especially from FP4 onwards. They must have gone in totally wrong direction with the setup.

On the other hand great pole lap by a rookie JM but MV looks so strong through out so he should be favourite again. I do hope the the 2 Pramac to give a hard fight and maybe a win. The Suzuki boys could be dangerous too as they got decent grid and they're normally strong in the end of the race.

Great race by FQ, can see he was pushing hard to overtake and gap the Ducs in the twisty sections. Great race too by JM only to lost 2nd very late. Great day for France with strong consistent race from JZ to lead the points now. MV actually has strong race pace but just maybe not able to be aggressive enough like FQ. The Ducs are saved by their rocketship engines! The factory Ducs should be a bit pissed though, beaten by their satellites, will this year be their turn to be beaten by satellite like Yamaha last year?

Meanwhile VR was just languishing at the back. 😆

He is still somewhat competitive and he finds it still fun to ride(still having good battles in the midfield). But the last 2 races could spell the end for him this season especially with so many good Moto2 riders coming up(ironically a lot from his own VR46 Academy). Still rooting for that 1 last career win for him though. I hope he can perform better at other tracks. I don't remember this track being very kind to him too.
*
Actually he was the most successful rider on this track with 4 wins.
