Plus he is a nice chap around the paddock. Team mates with Rossi at Honda and Ducati but never had any bad blood.

But then at that time Aprilia, Yamaha, honda(occasionally) was competitive. Now we see the gap from the top 2 riders(sometimes top 3) is about 4-5 secs at least to the guys not on the podium.

No use going to Motogp if you just run around at the back, especially if you are a multiple champion in WSBK.

Yeah James toseland was one of my favourites, he was not bad actually since he was on a satellite Yamaha. Too bad his career got cut short by injury and he didn't get to be promoted to the factory team. But he is a good commentator coz of his background, helps that he is a very good looking guy.
Ben spies performance wasn't so consistent though.

Checa was underated just like Alex barros was.
Biaggi lost because he is very emotional and always can't take the psychological games that Rossi played. Come to think of it,Rossi past rivals(Biaggi and gibernau) all lost because of the psycho games.
Melandri also had potential but luck just wasn't with him. I remember when kawasaki pulled out unexpectedly and left him high and dry when he signed. He showed them what could have been with the privateer hayate kawasaki team. It was a mistake to go back to motogp on the aprilia when it wasn't really ready. They should have stayed in wsbk for another year.

Makes sense to get as many recovery time as possible.

He probably will. I expect him to reduce his practice time. I hope for a surprise winner to make things interesting, maybe Dovi or Crutchlow.
