QUOTE(LovelyPotato @ Aug 29 2017, 12:38 PM) Planning to go on a solo trip this coming October holiday. What's the best transport method for a single person around sabah? I don't have a motorcycle license though. grab/uber is very convenientRenting car for myself few days seemed a bit too expensive, is there any tour that I can join to move around? Looking to more island hopping and 1-2 days in city. Any recommended package/agent for water activities? I'm looking for some scuba diving/sea walking (got no diving license though), maybe parasailing too. There's this website for seawalking but all the links are dead. Edit: Compiling stuff that I might be going for QUOTE(icyd @ Aug 29 2017, 04:19 PM) i guess i should eliminate food from the must do list. just eat whatever i came across to fill up only. must focus on the scenery and relaxation can drink milk from kundasang farm everyday |

QUOTE(LovelyPotato @ Aug 30 2017, 01:13 PM) Thanks for the recommendation! There's package for kinabalu park, poring hot spring & mari mari cultural village. Looking good for me. Just stay on the mainland..lots of budget hotels..That aside, I have emailed BORNEO REEF WORLD SDN BHD and they quoted me some activity pricing. a) Parasailing RM100 per person / RM180 for twin para b) Jetski for 2 pax at RM200.00 (30 minutes) c) Seawalking RM250.00 per person d) Discover Scuba Dive RM280.00 per person e) Flying Fish at RM75 per person (Min 3 person) f) Banana Boat at RM40 per person (Min 4 person) g) Kayak RM30 per person They have other package that includes lunch+boat transfer, adding a couple of bucks above this pricing. Is there any cheap accommodation/dorm available on the island? I'm planning to spend 2 days on the islands. Or should I just stay in KK and take the boat transfer for 2 days? I'm going on solo so budget is quite a concern. Not gonna spend a couple hundred bucks for a night in a resort to stay by myself Current itinerary Day 1 Flight reach around noon, check in, hang around city, get use to transport and etc Day 2 Scuba Diving + Sapi Island Day Trip Day 3 Island Trip Day 2 at Gaya+Manukan+Mamutik / Mari Mari Cultural Park (Which one better? Mari Mari Cultural park kinda expensive for a 4 hour tour) Day 4 Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Spring + Desa Farm Day 5 Morning hang around, after lunch go airport If you don't mind hostels I highly recommend Faloe Hostel..just next to IMAGO |

QUOTE(shauno @ Dec 12 2017, 05:47 PM) Hi all, will be making a trip to KK next week, with plans to head to Kundasang and Kudat. Planning to rent a car for the 2 of us, but a bit undecided on what car to take. I drove to Kudat with a Proton Exora and to Kundasang with a Mazda 3. No issue. A powerful car will definitely be more helpful in overtaking especially kundasang areas. lots of lorries and snail moving cars.Friends have advised us that it's better to go with a 4x4 as road conditions can be a bit poor. Don't know how updated that advice is tho.. Also read above that others here have driven up with a Bezza or Saga before, so wondering if a 4x4 is completely necessary? Price difference is quite substantial, but I don't want to get the cheaper option just for the sake of saving some money, but having a terrible experience during the drive. What's your take on this guys? Thanks! |

QUOTE(yoonyin @ Aug 29 2018, 12:21 PM) Hi guys, still planning to have a 3 days 2 nights vacation. Is Kota Kinabalu worth it for such a short trip? Travel along with my wife and a 2 years old toddler. What was the cheapest flight fare to reach KK. I searched for 21 - 23 September, Rm348 return fare /pax from JB to KK, consider okay? would recommend you go to kundasang instead of island hopping. not much fishes to see anyway.Just a very rough itinerary since still in dilemma wanna go KK or not. BTW, this will be my first time going to KK. Renting a Viva/Myvi better or use GRAB better? Day 1 (Friday) 7.20am - Depart from JB 9.40am- Landed at KK 11am - Early check in at Hotel (Suggest to stay somewhere near Waterfront with Rm200-300 per night) 12noon - Lunch at gaya street 1.30pm - Wandering around the city (Gaya street, Suria Sabah) 5pm - kota kinabalu city mosque (Friday, will this mosque close for prayer?) 6.30pm - Dinner (Philippines Night Market seafood & Wandering around after that) Day 2 (Saturday) 7am - Breakfast at gaya street 8.30am - Jesselton point (all the counters provide the same service for island hopping? Same price?) Or Sutera Harbour ? 9 am - Island hopping (Sapi & Manukan island. Both island got place for wash up after done snorkeling for day trip guest?) 5pm - Dinner (Sunset and City Dinner Cruise from Klook, worth it?) Day 3 (Sunday) 7am - Breakfast at gaya street then to airport. P/S: I wish to go Kundasang just to have a look at the Mt. Kinabalu, snap a photo! But, not sure my itinerary above have extra time to slot it or not. I dont want to do Park trip or Night trip for fireflies to avoid mosquitor bite on my toddler. |

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Domestic Golden Lounge, Kota Kinabalu International Airport
Recently I was flying from Kuching to Labuan and had to transit for a few hours at Kota Kinabalu. The price difference for the Economy Class and Business Class ticket for my BKI-LBU flight on MAS Wings was only RM 20 at the time of my booking so I immediately booked the Business Class ticket without much hesitation. DSC00816 by zstan, on FlickrIf you have taken MAS Wings you would know that there is almost no difference between Economy and Business Class on board the plane. However, by buying Business class does give you a free access to the Malaysia Airlines Domestic Golden Lounge, which costs way more than RM 20 if you used Enrich Miles for an entry. DSC00818 by zstan, on FlickrThe lounge is located at the far end of the Kota Kinabalu Airport. Since this is actually my first time entering an airport lounge, it looks pretty decent as a whole. Food and drinks selection wise was limited but sufficient for a domestic lounge offering. No alcoholic drinks though. I particularly liked the roasted chicken wings which was marinated well. DSC00819 by zstan, on FlickrA minor complaint would be the electrical outlet ports seem to be located pretty far from the table. So if your cable is short, you may struggle to charge your appliances. DSC00833 by zstan, on FlickrThere is also a shower section in the lounge toilet for guests to freshen themselves up. Towels and toiletries are actually provided. Slightly impressed with this. DSC00828 by zstan, on FlickrOverall this lounge is nice if you are flying Business class, but definitely not worth it if you have to use Enrich Miles to redeem a free entry. |

QUOTE(skyp @ Oct 11 2018, 03:46 PM) Yes, hopefully i get to spot rafflesia. you really shouldn't rush kundasang and ranau la. if not you are missing the point of visiting such a place which to relax and chill and soak in the scenery. there's also an interesting rabbit farm which you should drop by.Yes, I am planning for canopy walk. Looks like I will have too little time to cover both poring and kinabalu park |

QUOTE(skyp @ Oct 11 2018, 04:35 PM) Because i will be going to Kundasang after Labuan. Your ferry reach menumbok at 8am or leave labuan at 8 am? if reach menumbok at 11am to drive to KK is 2.5 hours and to Kundasang is another 2.5 hours assuming smooth traffic.Earliest ferry is 8am, so will reach at 11am to get my car and drive up to kundasang. Is either i cover both Poring and Kinabalu on the same day or i split into 2 days. I heard they are sharing the same entrance ticket? |

QUOTE(skyp @ Oct 11 2018, 08:51 PM) I saw this ferry schedule at Jesselton Point website. oh u are taking the passenger ferry not car ferry. my bad It says depart from Labuan at 8am and arrive at KK 11am. Am i landing at Menumbok? but no, they are of seperate tickets. if you use the public pool in poring you don't even need tickets can just jump in. |
