going kk in few days time. will be staying at kk town. is it feasible to book a rent car after reach and drive to kinabalu park? any recommendation for casual trekking and where to try scuba diving?
*
Suggest you to go Kota Belud to learn diving. Very much less congested and you can learn properly. Can google BigFin divers. I did my advance with them.

quiet far. just wana try casually. maybe when island hoping. hope not that crowded in weekday
*
you can't try diving 'casually' boss. there's discovery scuba diving but you still need to get a proper package from a dive operator.. island hopping people won't offer that one. only snorkelling.

Planning to go half day kinabatangan river cruise when visit Sandakan. Any contact can share for boat booking or can book on the spot?

Will stay in Sepilok, possible to get a rental car to Kinabatangan?
*
You can book directly with the homestays. they all have their own boats. I stayed at Sukau Backpackers B&B. If car rental have to rent in Sandakan. Sepilok is a very small area only.

Thanks.. noted. The boat have schedule to go river, like 3 slot per day only? How long is the cruise and how much roughly to rent boats?
*
usually will have 3 slots. 4pm cruise, 8pm night cruise and 6 am morning cruise.

will last 1-2 hours each. For my night cruise I was the only passenger so i paid RM100 for it. Morning cruise around 60?

do not ever go fatt kee
overpriced, not fresh, portion getting smaller..aimed at tourist
and they started to give u more fried fish pieces and not fresh fish pieces

once, they're caught by diner having maggots inside their fish pieces
their fish are very unfresh because to they stock alot of it due to aiming at tourist business
*
not sure what's your definition of over priced. for the same bowl that i had probably cost much more in KL. sweat.gif

fried or fresh fish is by your request la. on the contrary their fish is quite fresh due to high turnover rate as many tourists there.

my definition of overpriced is of all the restaurant that sells fresh fish noodle in sabah, they're the most expensive ones
almost double the pricing of the other restaurant

even if u request, they won't give u all fresh fish...they're gonna slot in some fried one
and their fish is not fresh due to they have to stock up alot of fish due to the many customers they got
some of them, they just fry it and put it into the freezer

as for taste wise, they tasted the worst among all...u can ask any sabahan..they will tell u the same answer laugh.gif

u come sabah 1 day, i'll take u to the restaurant i go now....u will directly say fatt kee is scamming u all along laugh.gif
the difference is that distinct
*
i've been few times liao, most recent was September. they gave me all fresh fish wor when i requested. 7 star grouper. well, tourist place of course tourist price lo. but compared to kl still reasonable.

can share the name of your restaurant here lo. everybody else can try also bah

i don't go there for a long time already
the last time i ate there, i'm very disappointed at the taste..not worth the price at all

try go to "kwong fish noodle"
cheaper, way bigger portion, way better fish
here, there are no tourist...all locals and u need to queue eventhough all locals

u even have 4 soup options to choose from compared to fatt kee where u don't have a choice
every bowl is cooked fresh rather than from the 1 big bowl they cooked
*
confused.gif confused.gif confused.gif

that explains. now got many soup options leh. salted vege, tomato, bitter gourd. maybe you can give them a chance. they also got new branch at Suria.

ok will try kwong fish noodle. thanks for the recommendations biggrin.gif

SABAH TRIP 2019 - SUKAU (KINABATANGAN WILDLIFE RIVER CRUISE & SUKAU B&B PART 1 )

Back in late May 2018 during the Kaamatan Holidays in Labuan, I decided to travel all the way Sukau by car from Labuan with a pit stop at Kota Kinabalu (KK). The whole journey starting from Menumbok to Sukau was about 8.5 hours despite with a distance of slightly more than 500km. The route I took journey was Labuan > Menumbok > Kota Kinabalu > Ranau > Sukau.

Why did I embark on such a crazy journey? Because it was one of my 'dream' to travel all tourist corners of Sabah by car when I first transferred over to Labuan. Travelling by car to see the world is just a much different feeling compared to joining a tour bus, taxi or flight where you can appreciate all the sights at your own pace.

Snorkelling only
Is Mabul not nice? I’ve been making some research around that Southern part is way better than Northern? Where tun sakaran is heavy commercialize and not that great anymore.

Furthermore, staying in semporna give bad vibes in terms not cleanliness? I’ve no intention of hammering semporna, just got feedback from relatives who travelled there before
*
yeah loads of rubbish floating around semporna but the waters are stilll crystal clear

Planning for a family trip to KK and Kundasang. Currently looking at either October or February. May I know which month is better in term of weather and not so crowded?

Thanks
