if u know boelhland ppl's buying priority, u know it is unlikely as 'majority' like I said, price is the 'only' concern, ppl may compare and complain about spec this spec that, but in the end, they still go for the price only.

looking at the sales, u know that P2, P1, Honda and Toyota are the choices for most ppl, because of price.

Tiguan 2017 is a perfectly good car,but in the end the potential buyers will be minority still as there are many many other cheaper options that are what majority bolehland ppl care only. It has nothing wrong with the car but more about buyers.

If there is not even enough buyers for this car, the dealer will not even bother to offer other things.
customers are the deciding factor, correct, but what makes what dealers do now are due to the cause that was done over many many years and it was decided based on the consumers behavior over the past many many years. It is possible to change, but if the consumers especially majority do not, nothing will really happen.

If u compare country like Taiwan which has full range of engine variants for Tiguan there, even they do not have things like acc given that they are more major market than bolehland, I do not foresee the local dealer will bother much about local market even the minority. Only if this car becomes a favorite for majority, else it is impossible. But this is super unlikely.

In fact, given the current spec of the new tiguan for bolehland, both spec and price are already more than what could be expected in the past in terms of surprise.

Price is not the only sole factor for majority of Malaysian buyer. Ppl are shying away fr vw is bcoz of reliability issue and after sales service. Vento is a clear example. Even though cheaper than city but who is buying? Similarly for Jetta as well. Even though solid but cannot even outsell altis that is literally tong kosong yet expensive.

Not really. Retailed price even it is close to Japanese car, it does not mean the total cost of ownership is lower.

Maintenance for vw is much more expensive comparing to Japanese cars.

Spare parts etc is also more expensive.

Also not to forget about the resell value, this is also a crucial deciding factor for budget users.

Overall, it still goes to price still.

But if you see like Vento, after factoring in the discount, the nett price is much lower than City and this can be use to offset higher maintenance cost. Not to forget the service interval for conti cars are longer thus the different are not so significant.

To me it is the uncertainties that draw buyer away becoz they hv totally no idea how much and how often they hv to fix the car. Couple with the poor after sales, this further worsened the situation.
