QUOTE(iampokemon @ Feb 2 2012, 12:23 AM) Wish to clarify. Is it credit card bank's rate or paypal's rate?Meaning paypal will charge USD to your credit card and the credit card bank will convert OR paypal will convert to MYR and then charge to your credit card in MYR. |

QUOTE(ascend @ Mar 2 2012, 03:33 PM) I used paypal to try to purchase from timberland.com (usa). Merchants can choose to ship only to confirmed addresses on paypal, which means the billing address and the shipping address on paypal must be the same. This 'security feature' has long been around as a protection to the merchants to avoid frauds.Timberland normally accepts Paypal, but apparently if the paypal account has a billing address (for the registered credit card) in Malaysia, Timberland will not process the order. This is something i certainly have not heard of. I thought the idea of using Paypal is so that buyers would not have to reveal credit details. So merchants will charge Paypal and in turn Paypal will bill your credit card. Apparent this is not the case. According to Timberland, they will be able to match your entered billing address with the address stored on Paypal. Problem is Timberland will not allow you to enter a malaysian billing address. See the problem sigh.. This post has been edited by tskhang: Mar 2 2012, 05:03 PM |

QUOTE(ascend @ Mar 2 2012, 08:44 PM) Yes true. But many merchants will also ship to alternate address (gifts for others) and so billing and shipping address need not be the same. I guess my point was some merchants will not accept Paypal with malaysia-issued credit cards - same problem as in the old days when Paypal wasn't around yet and some US merchants will not process cards issued in foreign countries. This 'security feature' is entirely up to the merchant whether they want it or not, in this case Timberland is one of them. There are many well known online stores that practices this policy as well.Added on March 2, 2012, 8:46 pm Timberland US does not ship outside of Continental USA. So i used a freight forwarder VPOST. In my case, it wasn't a shipping issue. It was because the CC registered with Paypal had a malaysian billing address. Thanks for the suggestion on using paypal cash - i need to check with them. This feature is not meant to prevent you from using a non-US issued card per se. As I said, this feature's main use is to prevent fraud, eg in the event someone has access to your paypal account to buy stuff and then shipping it to the thief's address instead. Without this feature, the transaction would have been successful. This is being used within the US itself. Of course, the merchant can choose to be lenient on alternate shipping address, but again it depends on the merchant. Don't be surprise if merchants that accept international orders, checked to see if your address is listed in your paypal account as well before shipping. Another thing you might need to check is if they ship to mail forwarders like VPOST. SOME merchants that don't ship overseas won't ship to mail forwarders as well. Even if you try to keep quiet about it, they will know the address belonged to VPOST. QUOTE(iampokemon @ Mar 2 2012, 10:02 PM) They set it up not to accept funds from buyers outside of US in their website, but you're still able to pay them direct to their Paypal account. Bro, you tried with Newegg before. You could try email them first before using Vpost. As I have also encounter a few website with the same problem as yours. But when emailed them, they say they do ship to Malaysia even though their website stated only to US continents. |

QUOTE(Doublebond @ Dec 26 2012, 01:46 PM) I just got Maybank Platinum Mastercard debit. Probably Maybank blocked this online transaction. You should contact them to notify your intention so that they can do what's necessary for this to go thru.I was wondering why i couldn't verify it through this card and my card definitely have sufficient amount for the verifying process. When i click 'continue', this message keep showing up. "This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card. " I saw a lot of forumers comment about using maybank VISA debit have been successfully verified it. Is it not possible to verify using maybank MASTERCARD? |

QUOTE(aiyish @ Dec 27 2012, 12:56 PM) Im kindda new to this paypal thingy. Receved funds in MYR. So now my balance is USD $0 & MYR is RM60. I use my MYR as primary but when I try to buy anything online, it charges my credit card. So my RM60 is stuck there. Help please thank you. Are you purchasing in foreign currency? If you are, Bank Negara dictates that MYR conversion is not allowed is not allowed. Therefore, although you have a balance in MYR, it cannot be converted to foreign currency. |

QUOTE(nick67 @ Jan 5 2013, 02:11 PM) Thanks for your reply. Do you have balance in your paypal account? What currency is your paypal balance? What currency are you using for your purchase?Actually I clicked checkout, then it asks for my paypal login details so I logged in. But I didn't link my card to Paypal so it asks for my credit card number under the paypal column. How does it work actually? Using Paypal without linking a card? |

QUOTE(nick67 @ Jan 5 2013, 03:14 PM) There's nothing in my account. It's new. Trying to purchase in USD. Since you have nothing in your Paypal account, then they would ask for your alternative payment method to fund your purchase, ie credit card/debit card/bank account.Just curious if I enter my credit card at the paypal checkout is it the same as linking my card to my paypal? Nope, even if your add in your credit card, you would still be unverified, unless you choose to verify it to remove the limit. But nonetheless, if your purchase is less then the limit they given you, and your status is still unverified, you can still purchase it. You should add your credit card into your paypal account first (properly set up your paypal account) before you purchase anything. This post has been edited by tskhang: Jan 5 2013, 03:27 PM |

QUOTE(nick67 @ Jan 5 2013, 11:33 PM) I'm curious about the credit card option. It's still under paypal right? But if can pay through credit card why would they require me to login paypal in the first place? You use paypal so that you don't have to expose your credit card information to the merchants. Just assume that your credit card is hiding behind your paypal id. When you pay using paypal, you need to login to your paypal account at the checkout page. If not, then how will they know who is paying for the items. |

QUOTE(porkchop @ Mar 3 2013, 11:32 AM) Wanna ask pp pros here, if i send money from my malaysia paypal as personal and others in USD, but my account no money, it will deduct from my credit card? Using paypal exchange rate or my credit card exchange rate? Also will there be any additional fees to me or the person receiving it?? Refer here under Exhibit A - 4chttps://cms.paypal.com/my/cgi-bin/marketing...%20A%20-%20Fees. If using credit card to fund the transfer, it will use the credit card's exchange rate.
