On how to link Paypal and Maybank: http://me.zestful.org/tutorial-link-mayban...rd-with-paypal/

Steps should be similar with other banks as well, as other banks should have something similar to Maybank's Maybankcard Secure Online Shopping Registration thingy.

I had a very hard time finding out how to link my card to Paypal at first, with 3 different branches telling me I can't, when their brochure clearly states can -.-" The bloglink above was a godsend tongue.gif

I tried to pay using paypal that linked to my AMEX card at a website : www.thepoplook.com but when I click on pay by paypal, it said my account linked to AMEX card but I cannot continue the payment process..does anyone know why this is happen?

is all website that accept Paypal will let us pay using AMEX linked to paypal?

thanks
*
I'm not sure, but I believe AmEx should have something similar to Maybank's Maybankcard Secure Online Shopping Registration right? If yes, then you need to activate that first. Any website that accepts Paypal will accept Paypal regardless of how you top up your money.

It's as if Paypal is a bank. As long as the shop accept's Paypal's "credit card", they won't care how you pay the "credit card" bill one, since that is between you and Paypal and has nothing to do with the shop.

it's so weird because my account already linked with my AMEX, but when I want to check out and pay,i login to my paypal account..and on the payment page..there's no options i can choose to use my AMEX..does anyone know why? sad.gif

I had that same problem when I first linked my Maybank card to Paypal, but I could add and verify my card after doing that Maybankcard Secure Online Shopping Registration thingy. Did you check that, and did you also try linking it again?

is there any difference in conversion rate if funds are deducted directly from paypal account vs from debit card??
*
got, at least for me during most of my transactions. usually just plus/minus less than RM1 one, though at times I've had RM3+ difference.

Hi, I haven't been updated lately, but what happened to all those people selling paypal services? Why is it not allowed anymore?
*
That is now against forum rules. There were too many scammers. Basically what they did was 1) get payment, don't transfer Paypal or 2)transfer Paypal, get payment, reverse Paypal transfer

if your status is verified, that means paypal already accepts your card, so it should be no problem to do wtv you want to do.

hi guys,

just wanna ask if i link the paypal account to my bank account, does it mean that if i buy something in usd, it will be deducted directly from my bank account?

thanks
*
you don't link it to your bank account directly, but to your credit or debit card. If you're linking using a debit card, then yes, it's a direct deduction from your bank account. The Paypal and Bank rate is slightly different though, so expect slight differences

Wish to clarify. Is it credit card bank's rate or paypal's rate?
Meaning paypal will charge USD to your credit card and the credit card bank will convert
OR
paypal will convert to MYR and then charge to your credit card in MYR.
*
Paypal will charge your card in USD, then bank will convert with their rates and charge you in RM

hi

so now i got it that with debit card, we can straight buy from ebay or etc as long as there is money in our maybank account.

but how if i want to sell in ebay? let say the buyer pay via paypal, will the money directly transfer to my maybank account or it will be credit to my paypal account? if paypal, how to transfer it to maybank?

hope someone can answer it tq
*
The payment will be to your Paypal account. If you make purchases, Paypal will use what money you have in Paypal first before tapping into your card. If you want to transfer the balance in Paypal to your Maybank account, you can but you will be charged (RM20 I think) per transaction that's below a limit (RM200 I think)

IMO both should be the same, except for minor safety and convenience issues.

Topup would be more inconvenient, as you'll have to keep on going to the bank/atm to topup, while if you link your card then as long as your account has cash can d.

But, if you topup only, if somehow Paypal has a security breach then only your bank account no will be compromised. If you link your card, then they could possibly use that info to shop online first =/

Is it really safe for using Paypal?

Please search through this thread, this question has been asked and answered a million and one times. In a nutshell, it's safer than direct bank transfer.

Thanks guys.really helping.one last question

So let say i have rm50 in my paypal acc n i want 2 buy thing that costs rm80.so they will minus rm50 from my paypal acc n debit another rm30 frm my maybank acc rite? Correct me if im wrong tq
*
Yup, that's correct. If the item cost is RM40 only, then your maybank account will be untouched.

QUOTE(kamenslasher @ Feb 5 2012, 11:05 PM)
thanks 4 da info!
actually i had link my card and bought 4 items from ebay. 1st time topup, the other 3 link rhb debit card.

just wondering is there any charges actually because last time i bought an item, the conversation rate is:

Jan 18 = 1 Malaysian Ringgit = 0.312050 U.S. Dollars @ 1.00 USD  =  3.12050  MYR
Jan 28 = 1 Malaysian Ringgit = 0.320625 U.S. Dollars @ 1.00 USD  =  3.320625 MYR

i know the conversion rate keeps changing from time to time but today's conversion:

Based on XE converter        : Feb 2  = 1.00 USD  =  3.01000 MYR
Based on RHB topup          :  Feb 2 =  1.00 USD  =  3.06000 MYR

So my questions:
1) Do the bank charge any fee?
2) Topup rhb and link debit rhb conversion rate is the same?

Thanks...
1) As far as I know, the bank doesn't charge any fee as the transaction is like a normal credit card purchase only, but since it's in another currency they will convert to RM using their rates la.
2) Sorry, can't help you there, but should be the same rate one

Did you check what was Paypal's rate? Paypal's rate is slightly higher than the usual exchange rate one. What is finally charged to your debit card will be the bank's rate, not Paypal.

Anyone who knows can verify how the rates go?

hye guys. actually this is my first time using paypal. i ordered some items from kitbag.com but suddenly it out of stock & kitbag refund my money back. i'm using maybank debit card. i check on my paypal, it says that kitbag has refund my money to paypal, & paypal has refund my money to my bank account. last night i check, there's no money from paypal at all credit to my account. i google'd and even look in paypal discussion forum but none of it can solve my problem. how long does it took to get my money back? *sigh.
*
usually 3 working days, sometimes 5 working days. chillax, monday and tuesday public holiday ma, plus need to wait a few days.. you should get the refund into your maybank account either by end of this week or mid next week. Maybank's quite fast one usually, so should be end this week kwa

how do i do that with credit card?
*
just choose another currency. Paypal will charge your card in that currency (if you linked your card, not topup), and your card will convert using the bank's rates to finally charge you in RM

Feb 10, 2012 Currency Conversion          Completed  Details -RM42.60 MYR
Feb 10, 2012 Currency Conversion          Completed  Details $13.69 USD

Feb 10, 2012 Currency Conversion          Completed  Details RM42.60 MYR
Feb 10, 2012 Credit to Credit Card          Completed  Details -RM42.60 MYR
and i can't find where to select currency for credit card

Is that the whole section d? Coz if you see nicely, there's a $13.69 charge in the end.

If you pair them up and arrange,

RM42.60
-RM42.60

$13.69
-$13.69
$13.69

RM42.60
-RM42.60

Hello~ I hope someone can help me.
It has been a while since I last use my Paypal acc to buy something, so what I want to know is does Paypal charge fees if I don't have any Paypal balance when I buy something using my debit card (linked to Paypal)? or if visa charge fees for using debit card? Let's say the amount that I have to pay is around 100USD will it still be 100USD or more when I use my linked debit card? 8( Sadly the shop only accepts Paypal. 8/
*
As far as I know, there's no charge or charge is very minimal. I've been buying stuff using Paypal with my CC linked to it, and what I get charged is usually only more or less RM1-2ish from the Paypal conversion rate. I'm not 100% sure why there's that difference, but IMO it's not a charge by Paypal/bank, but just that bank's exchange rate is different than Paypal's.
