I have put up a template which may help may help you place your own custom-made image as your dashboard image for your XBOX 360.

The template shows where the main areas are on the dashboard such as your gamercard and featured download boxes are so your can design your image to incorporate, or wrap around these areas if you wish. This is not a theme guide, unfortunately as at the moment as you can only put up one image as a background for all of your blades, but here in a nutshell is how you can do it.
The image you need is 1280×720 pixels. Allow for the image to bleed off to the right and left following the template and the image remaining will show up on your dashboard.

Save as a jpeg file at 72dpi and save it onto something that can communicate with your XBOX360.
Press right on your D Pad until you hit the Media Blade and hit pictures. Select the device where you have stored the picture and the picture you want to use - use the D Pad to select the picture you want and press X to apply as background.
Return to the main screen to see the full effect.
