Anyone has bad experience with Tan Chong Nissan parts?

I drive Nissan Almera and I found mine spoils easily.

Absorber
My rear absorber give up at around 60K KM. Already start nyek nyek sound.

Front lower arm bush
Already torn at around 100K KM. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Front absorber link
Already worn out at around 100K KM. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Cooling coil
Leak at about 100K KM!

Rear lamp cluster
A motorbike just gentle knocks into it, already broken rclxub.gif I have kena knock before in MyVI and the lamp cluster is just scratched.

Front brake disc
Already showing signs of warping aroung 60K KM rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Wheel bearing
See forum, many kong in short time.

I have driven Kelisa, Saga BLM and MyVI with almost 180K KM and didn't spoil that fast.

I guess my next car won't be a Nissan from Tan Chong. I belive most of the parts I mentioned above is local Tan Chong fitting, some like absorber and cooling coil is actually made by Tan Chong APM. Such a disgrace to Nissan badge. No wonder Nissan brand in Malaysia is always third after Toyota and Honda.

Someone should alert Nissan Japan about this alarming quality failure.

Yeah that's the best thing. Outside parts is cheap. But tired of wasting time changing parts.

You just need to sought for the quality part and changed it.

I do agree that often times, it is a huge waste of time trying to change parts from time to time. But that's the way it is then.
*
Every parts I changed with original parts. But still doesn't last.

Already on second set of wheel bearing and I am only at 120K KM. WTF?! rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Too bad, the wheel bearing is a sad case not only for you but others too.

May I know how long each set of wheel bearing of yours last?

After you changed, you still heard the "humming" sound when cruising over 90 kmph?

I'm keen to know then.

After change no humming sound.

hence this is no case for Nissan's alarming quality failure

Check out Almera's wheel bearing issues. Failure between 20K km to 40K km.. if that is not alarming quality failure, I don't know what is anymore....

For disc brake to fail in less than 100K km also should be classified as alarming

Oh... my exhaust tip is now rattling like mad. Go to Nissan, need RM150 to replace the tip. I have never gotten any exhaust problem with my other car.

This tip.

I rmb my saga disc brake failed in 40k km also.... lolz... since u mentioned saga... i feel its the same fragile as it is... if taken out the massive tax by our government... almera is a very low cost car anyway....
*
I believe so for VIOS and CITY. No idea about CITY, but old VIOS (Dugong) hardly any issues at all till 210K km. And much cheaper to maintain than Almera.

wheel bearing issue among Almera is a hot topic. This you may able to call it quality issue.

The rest, i would say it's perfectly normal.

Yes, even for brake rotor. I'm on 3rd set of rotor and my millage is below 100k.

Cheers. These stuff are wear and tear part, they will need replacement periodically.

I am having this perception, because based on my driving pattern, none of the other cars I have exhibit such alarming needs for parts replacement.

I am running about 60K++ km per year, along roughly the same road, same passenger. So my wear and tear should be same regardless of what car I use.

But how come my old Kelisa, MyVI and VIOS can be so reliable, yet with Almera I have to go to workshop to repair some stuff on monthly basis rclxub.gif Mind you, the Kelisa, MyVI and VIOS is running on bone crushing low profile, while Almera is on stock thick donuts.

your wheel bearing did not fail, it simply didnt last

since you let me know it's a notorious issue among Almeras, i can suggest you claim it with service centre while u can

low quality wheel bearing issue might originate from one of Tan Chong's vendors, if u make it known to Tan Chong management, they might improve their process and hence change vendor, or the vendor might improve the bearing quality

brake rotors warp for a variety of reason, sometimes even driving style could have caused it, but most importantly you must know that wheel bearing that has worn out can cause brake rotors to warp, so you see, a faulty component might damage another component

however can you tell me if the Almera wheel bearing issue is only experienced by local Almera drivers or it affects Almera drivers abroad too?

then we can tell if this is due to Tan Chong Nissan Malaysia or Nissan Motor

Looks like I am not alone here.

Just sharing my owned experienced, I got 2 Nissan cars at home, the first one is Latio and almost 10 years old, very reliable car and so far I'm only changed rear absorber x1 time and cooling coil x1 in 10 years. This made me so confident on Nissan product and decided to buy Almera for my wife even never consider for other brand. After drove Almera nearly for 6 months, i'm really disappointed, i'm having bearing, radiator, aircon issues and continue non stop. From now onward, no more Nissan in the future.
*
Agreed. The reason I buy Almera is also because of Latio. Such a great experience with Latio (not mine) plus all the good experience with older Nissan I straight away buy Almera when launched.

Manatau.... vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

No more TAN CHONG Nissan in the future!

Nissan cars are the worst Japanese car, not sure if its TanChong or Nissan Japan.

My family Xtrail since day 1 got wheel bearing problem also, after change the bearing they blame the tyre. Even after tyre changed to Michelin also problem doesnt go away and TanChong happily tell us its normal. There is loud humming sound coming from the rear since Day 1.

All sorts of other problem like suspension, absorber, bushes, engine mounting which all had been replaced while the car only done 90k and its 2011 car.
My Honda City 2012 still running strong even with all sorts of abuse, yet to change any parts mention above and milleage is reaching 100k.

I think it is problem with Tan Chong and not Nissan in general.

I don't really read much problem with Nissan cars overseas. Even in Thai and Singapore forum.

Even Almera is getting good reviews in Thailand and Singapore. Also, they get the proper Nissan famous CVT gearbox while in Malaysia we are getting shortchanged with 4AT. Tan Chong's reason is that Malaysia doesn't want CVT, but I think the real reason is due to Tan Chong wanting to save money by giving us low tech stuff while charging the same. Very typical Chinaman company attitude.

All those problematic parts, are usually local parts, meaning Tan Chong DELIBERATELY choose lower quality components. In makes the car profit margin higher, and they can continue to earn replacement parts money from you after the warranty is over.

Have you read about so many Nissan Sylphy failed engine mounting less than 100k km?!

Also, do you notice, only Tan Chong has short warranty period, 3 years or 100,000 km whichever comes first. Others already starts to give 5 years or unlimited millage warranty. This shows that Tan Chong DELIBERATELY uses low quality parts and knows that it won't last long, even they themselves don't have the confidence in their product.

Even the new Honda City was launched with 5 years warranty.

The PJ service center is just a big conman. Before warranty period over, they tried to adjust or repair any "faulty" parts. Right after warranty over, everything they ask you to change.

Before this my exhaust got rattling noise, so I go to Tan Chong. During the warranty period, they did some adjustment and tightening. Now warranty period over, same rattling noise, the SA straight away tell me that I need to change the exhaust tips WITHOUT even ask checking or look at the exhaust. I go outside exhaust shop, the guy just tighten the bolt and kaw dim.

If u bought tan chong oil filter ,is local/china made parts biggrin.gif

Buy Nissan branded.

Tried Tan Chong brand air filter before, felt the car very sluggish. Switch back to Nissan branded, feels good.

Some of the Nissan branded parts also made by Tan Chong, but most probably have a different quality standards.
