** Sorry, I bringing this reply from V5 to this thread.  Just realised there is a V6.
Bikes and Kids....reminds of these vlogs from RJ.
Anyway, RJ is a cool guy. All bikers should ride like him, with manners.

Yesss RJ is the legend. Love watching his videos, love his attitude on the roads too. Dude always has some interesting stuff to show like that 'quickshifter' on his Grom recently.

I need recommendations for rain gear; got a ride to Thailand this weekend. Looking for a basic suit (jacket and pants) that's packable into a small space. What rain gear do you guys normally use? I've seen some RM100 'Arai' (and other brands - probably fake) rain jacket and pants sets from Mudah but not sure if those will last. Are waterproof glove and boot covers worthwhile as well?

For your trip, just get any rain gear that fits ( best get one size larger so that can go over your riding gear ). It will flap but you cant go fast anyway in the rain.
Gloves and boot covers are optional. Gloves I take off before it rains. Boots I will transform to slippers. These two I try not to get them wet as its so hard to dry, especially if your trip is non stop ride. If there is a break then can dry with air con.....yeeaaahhhhh.....dont forget to bring deodarant. Sometimes drying things can be smelly...LOL...have fun for your ride.. smile.gif stay safe....
*
Thanks for the good tips thumbsup.gif If I have space I might bring my old motocross gloves too, to wear in the rain. They're fabric so quick-drying, plus I've been riding with gloves for so long now that not wearing gloves feel weird lol. See if I got space for slippers too. Yeah riding in wet boots is *not* fun haha.

Won't be able to get it in time for the trip but I'm now thinking of getting one of these RS Taichi hoodies. Waterproof and has armor, looks like a nice easy commuting jacket, especially since it's starting to rain every day in Penang now.

Hi, yes please any info would be nice, was planning the budget before venture myself a bike ( its been a while since the last time i ride )

on the other hand, moped can get away with box for extra luggage. what did u guys do when its raining and all? i mean where did u guys put the stuff like slippers and etc? all inside the bag?
*
Yup, backpack. Not much storage options on sportbikes and bikes of similar style nowadays. A waterproof backpack is one of the best things you can invest in IMO. You can also try a tank bag which sits on the fuel tank.

I kinda miss the older sportbikes with big butts brows.gif at least they had a bit more onboard storage space. I've heard claims that the Hayabusa's huge rear hump is big enough to fit a six-pack of beer lol.

get those cheapo arai or watever rainsuit from kapchai shops... they may be cheap.. but they can last. i know some people use them as riding jackets daily and still last a long time. as mentioned, get 1 size up or 2 so u can wear it over ur gear. just go to shop and test while wearing ur gear.

perhaps get waterproof riding boots? better safety than slipper.... i have the replica a-stars one though... been holding up well in the rain when paired with my cheapo rm69 X-Dot rain suit. even used it for a tonne of walking when i was in UK and still OK. definitely not as comfy as sneakers, but u get used to it. ridden in the rain before without any rainsuit, boots were still relatively dry since my pants covered the top of the boot.

for gloves, cheapo gloves for the rain.. doesnt need to be waterproof.. as long as ur hands are still covered... so that it doesnt hurt like a son of a beech during the ride. if u want cheapo waterproof, go to bike shops and buy them RM100 "leather" gloves. my neighbour has the soft gauntlet length "leather" glove (branded RS TAichi) and its waterproof. looks good and friggin comfy too.
for storage, backpacks, tank bang, tail bag, removable saddle bag. all can be had for cheap for replicas. comes with rain cover too so no need to worry about rain so much.
EDIT: by "bike shops" i mean those normal bike shops that sells kapchais...if they also sell bigger bikes then better chances of finding the items. doesnt have to be specialized bike accesory shops.

btw...hows the haze in penang? thinking of heading there in 2 weeks.
*
Thanks for the info thumbsup.gif I'll check out some bike shops on the way home from work later. Your replica A-Stars, are they like that company's SMX boots or similar? I would have gone for the Fieldsheer boots but currently looking for a pair with more protection in addition to waterproofing.

No haze in Penang since last week but we're getting a lot of frequent rain, including a few really heavy showers. Make sure you pack your good rain gear!

r25 storage compartment, considered lucky if you can even fit the disc lock (can't fit my Xena derp)

Yeah man, check out the size of the rear cowl on the old GSXR SRAD if you don't fit a pillion seat. Massive storage (for a sportbike)!

So is the rm100 RS Taichi glove fake? I've been eyeing some of them on mudah.my. If not then is there an official retailer for RS Taichi?
Any comments would be appreciated as I'm also buying gears to prep for a new bike.
*
You can find a lot of RS Taichi gloves on Taobao, often cheaper than buying in M'sia (even including postage). I'm really not sure if the stuff on Taobao are fakes tbh, the quality is often very good. My theory is that most of them are overproduction or factory seconds rejected by quality control due to minor flaws. I've been using a pair of RM100 Alpinestars Mustang gloves from Taobao for over a year now, the stitching is really good and the leather is still in good condition. If those are fake, they're very high quality fakes.

The branded stuff in bike shops in Malaysia probably come from the same source too, but sold at a markup. The only advantage is that you can actually try on the gear before buying (which IMO is worth the extra charge in some cases).

Start browsing Taobao and you'll see a lot of stuff there which is also sold on Mudah and in bike shops hehe thumbsup.gif

Guys, i known some rider here already owned Yama R25 and Kawa Z250.
May i ask which one is the better option to own atm?

Price around the same, and both having this naked/fairing that i really like... although Z250 is a bit more dated compared to R25
*
Personally I would go with the R25. R25 with grey paintjob is really sexy brows.gif

I've been tempted by the Z250 in the past, but reviews claim that it's literally the same engine as the Ninja 250. I had thought Kawasaki would retune the engine for more torque and midrange for the naked bike, but I guess you can't fiddle around much with the 250cc engine? Plus they aren't very cheap even when bought second hand.

Stumbled upon this list of Chinese knock-offs of bikes from around the world:

http://indianautosblog.com/2016/06/list-of...orcycles-233643

The Ninja 300 and CBR 250 knockoffs are scarily close to the real thing...my personal favourite would have to be the Panigale ripoff though, with its ER6n tank and swingarm and super cool SPACE RANGER name doh.gif

The shop where I bought my rain suit had a MT-07 for sale. Sat on it. Woah what a bike! So light (feels lighter than my Ninja 250), the throttle is so light and smooth too. Felt like sitting on a supermoto. I think I kena poison liao. Too bad its still too new for a big second hand market. cry.gif

Hmm, even with the incorrect size, would you say this helmet is quieter than most? Wearing my current LS2 to Thailand and back was like listening to an artillery barrage for several hours shakehead.gif Heard that Schuberths are purposely designed to reduce noise.

what's special bout kevlar jeans.. specially design for riders? hmm.gif
*
Yeah, the kevlar is like leather, helps protect you when sliding on a road. Not as good as leather but still a lot better than regular denim laugh.gif The jeans themselves aren't actually kevlar, they just have kevlar panels sewn underneath at places like the legs and seat.

TBH I don't think the stuck shifter is a big issue; seems that it can happen with almost any bike due to the inherent nature of motorcycle transmissions. I've had it happen to bikes from my old 1990 GP100 to my 2000's CB500 to my 2012 Ninja lol.

I just use arthur88's method if it gets stuck. Release clutch lever slightly, move the bike back and forth a bit. Should shift into the desired gear or neutral after that.

Thx for the advice bros. Actually, 1000cc bike is not to be afraid of la..more safer I think.
*
One could argue that liter bikes are technically safer in the hands of an expert, thanks to their powerful brakes and handling.

But for a newbie? Liter bike throttles and brakes are sensitive and usually much stronger than other bikes. One unintentional hard twist of the throttle (e.g. while going over bumps) or a hard squeeze of the front brake due to newbie panic is enough to end the ride on the spot as the engine/brake power overwhelms your tires' traction.

Trying out Liqui Moly motorcycle cleaner. I normally use car care product for cowling polishing and WD40 for engine and drive chain cleaning. But the Liqui Moly cleaner and the multi-purpose spray did the job faster and less hassle. Instant gloss finished on my beasts cool2.gif
I tried also the chain cleaner but IMO WD40 is more effective
*
Nice! Is the Luqui Moly cleaner an all-in-one sort of thing? I tried some stuff called SDOC-100 in the UK which you just spray over the entire bike (chain included) before washing it off and lubing the chain, but the gloss it left wasn't very impressive.

Got a slightly weird question about LS2 helmets...

Is it just me, or do all the shops (physical and online) in Malaysia only have size M as the smallest size? In the UK we could get size S and XS as well. Maybe the majority of LS2 customers just have really big heads? biggrin.gif

It is the Malaysian suppliers. They don't bring in uncommon sizes much. No market they say... Puii!
*
Arrgh. I've lived with it for over a year but now I can't deny that my size M LS2 is *just* a bit too loose for comfort. FFS. dry.gif

Might try ordering a smaller sized helmet liner from overseas. Hopefully size M/S/XS all use the same shell size.

Haha yeah, I dunno. Wouldn't that mean that if size XS and S use the same shell size, size XS gets slightly more impact protection? biggrin.gif I gotta go research how helmets are made.

Looking gooood thumbsup.gif One 'advantage' of white bikes is that in the right situation you can make drivers crap their pants in fright when they look quickly and think it's PDRM devil.gif

Guys, i plan to buy myself a 250cc bike next year..
i'm thinking wanna get either kawasaki z250sl or kawasaki z250

Will use this bike 100% for city ride...
My weight 50kg

which 1 u guy recommend ?
maintenance and service charges which will cost more ?
Durability ?
Sporty and eye catching?
comfort ?
*
for 100% city riding I'd go with the z250sl because its super lightweight and narrow, feels like riding a bicycle but with some 250cc oomph. Correct me if I'm wrong but it should have a nicer lower end with more torque as well due to being a single cylinder; this is nice for short overtakes and shooting for gaps in traffic.

The z250sl also has a nice trellis frame that sets it apart from a lot of other bikes; but its small size and overall shape makes it look a bit like a FZ150 from a distance (but hey IMO the new generation FZ150 is pretty good lookin).

Both should be durable with good build quality given that they are Kawasaki bikes.

Guys, I got a question regarding helmet fitting. I've posted this on reddit.
*
Most likely it doesn't fit your head shape. If I'm not wrong, Arai and Shoei make helmets to fit multiple types of heads. Might be worthwhile trying yet even more? :/

I think helmets should be comfortable with your head in any position. This might seem...trivial but there might be times where you need to lift your head upwards e.g. when down on the ground pumping your tyres lol.

Looks like a Japanese bike :/ that rear cylinder kinda looks like it could really heat up your inner leg as well.

New 2017 ER6f looks damn nice. Slipper clutch and adjustable windshield ..brings to mind a baby version of the Z1000sx. Along with the new Versys, Kawasaki's 650 bikes are starting to look really sharp drool.gif I wonder if they'll do any updates for the ER6n as well?
