Just placed for 4.05% 15 months at affin, open savings account without ATM card, only online banking, principal and interest automatically credit into savings account upon maturity, awesome bank unlike hlb hard-sell ATM card that caj 12/year and have to be present at the bank to withdraw FD

So for 3.99% p.a. for 1 year, the EIR is actually 7.29% p.a. So this is actually obviously higher than your FD. So no, please don’t take the personal loan to place in FD.
this is interesting, so i guess the main thing here is our understanding on flat rate and effective rate.

would you care to elaborate more the proper understanding to look at these 2 terms?

Want to place hong leong efd
So i go to open hong leong basiac saving account but get rejected by branch saying that account require employment letter for payroll or for low income people.

they say this is their bank policy. I dun think bank can do such thing, right?

After my insist asking to check further, they said will make a call to their office to confrm and leave my phone number there.

Maybe i need to try other branch.
*
yeap hong leong bank has history of making customers open savings account with higher fees

Are there any charges for FPX transfer for HLB 4% eFD?

Edit: http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...-Accounts#72596

According to FAQ No 7:
7. Are there any charges when using this service?
You may be charged a flat rate or a percentage of your total transaction amount.
*

after reading this , not so attractive ...4.1% for 12 months ..... why not just go straight forward for conventional 4.1% from the banks that offered ....

unless end of 12 months, the return could hit 4.5% and above then it will be different story... any thought on this ...

thanks...
*
I dont think the rate will change, u leave it for one year, the effective rate is 4.1%

excellent point.

i start to speculate if BNM may be forced to raise OPR instead given the exchange rates now.
*
how higher OPR can help weak ringgit?

Which means that the worst scenario is not getting any profit but our initial investment will not be affected?
*
Worst case scenario initial investment can be affected, but many people including me still choose to place in gia-i because we have faith in maybank
