From what i read and gather, look like 3.95% and 4.05% per year are the most attractive FD interest rate ..... so the winners go to
HL Bank and Affin Bank...... any objections......

question should we banks that has very less branches or no PIDM .....

Juz placed my 1st fd in hlb..3.95% only...now not a good time to place fd..looking for 2nd bank currently..btw, hlb staff recommended some sort of insurance and savings with interest 5-8%...beneficial eh?
*
Saw this when in HL bank, 5-8% only for 3 months ...later it will be resumed back to the normal FD rate, beside this understand that you need to participate in their so called "Saving Plan"...... i asked the staff that i already got a saving account, do i need to open another one? he replied that yes, this is different thing...
so i guess by calculating the effective interest rate, i doubt it will be better than 3.95% conventional FD....

Seems, now banks require more liquidity ..... am i right.... question anyone think the SRR will be reduced this year? ..... my guest is likely ....

What is your experience in placing FD in Bangkok bank, presumed you have placed it since you recommended this....

Any hassle, hidden cost, or drawback beside no PIDM?

Seems like very grateful to see "4" at this moment.
Except RHB offering 4%, Affin is 4.05%, Bangkok Bank is 4.1%  biggrin.gif

During my last visit to Affin, staff informed that the 4.05 is very popular, quota may finish soon
*
RHB got 4%, i didn;t see this in their web site, are you sure?

Affin fd need to put some money in casa, so not my preference, rather place rhb or hlb, but prefer every month got interest credit in

One more point a difference of 0.05% not so significant, so 3.95%=4.00% more or less for amount less than 50k

Last year at that time, liquidity was tighter hence banks need to offer better FD rate to attract deposit.

Since after that BNM lowering down the SRR frm 4% to 3.5%, whereby banks have extra a few ten of billion, promo deposit rate start to trend down, couple with July OPR cut of 0.25%, which sent promo FD rate now to below 4%.

Banks won't "suddenly" reduce rate one simply, they have their own reason.

Economy data, financial data (loan growth rate, LDR etc ) BNM policy are providing indicator how FD rate is heading.
*
Yeah SRR reduction done during beginning of this year, so would it possible to have another reduction......
look like along 2016/2017, FD rate will be ranging 3.5% to 4.5% for 12 month deposit....

what exactly KLIBOR is? Same like FD?

Is this capital protected? And how to invest into this? and how the interest being paid out ? Who can invest?
What is the minimum amount?

Klibor structured investment, is a structured product.
It is not a FD.

Klibor = Kuala Lumpur Interbank rate.

It is the interest rate for interbank borrowing, which fluctuate based on market liquidity and BNM's OPR.

If the Klibor is behaving within the structured product "prediction" (as in the clause of the structured product), you get paid that interest rate or return as the structured stated.
While if Klibor is behaving out of range, you may get zero interest, but you will get back the capital (capital guaranteed generally) when it matured (if it is 5 years, then you need to wait for 5 years, but you may get zero interest for 5 years if the Klibor move out of range.

Please be reminded, it is not a FD, so if interested further can open up a new specific topic talk on Klibor structured investment, so that we don't deviate from this FD topic.

Thanks for the info, look like better stick with FD..... and hoping more FD promotion coming....at this juncture, RHB, BR are the best.... and HLB eFD promotion will be ending today......

Any one place eFD via HL bank..... wonder if the interest is paid and credited to the saving account every month or it will be credited only upon maturity date (after 6, 9, 12 months).

thanks ...

I am planning to put in now and uplift in the next few days just to experiment. Most likely will still be 3.6% but if maintained up to 12 months , then of course will be 4.1%. biggrin.gif
*
i still skeptical about this e-GIA ....

can i stop half wat e.g. if i choose 6 months or 12 months in the middle of 5th months, i withdrawn all, will i entitle
month 1 to month 5 for 3.6% interest rate + my guarantee principal ?

haven't invest in e-GIA

normal e-GIA, you will still entitled to the interest pro-rated when you uplift prematurely smile.gif

Not sure about the promo type, I do not have the amount to test laugh.gif

Awaiting ppl to confirm biggrin.gif

And note that eGIA is not under PIDM protection (so capital not guarantee), so it is not really comparable to FD smile.gif
*
mm... pro-rated, then i should go for conventional FD with 1 month maturity term....and get it renew every time...this will eventually same return as the e-GIA which stop in halfway ...

mmm.... capital not guarantee, then my question to those who have ventured to this, please share your experience whether you have encountered before on your capital shrinking ...
