Decided to go with Illegear after a rather long consideration. Just to share, the whole decision making was separated into 2 parts.

1st, ITX vs gaming laptop, and I went for gaming laptop despite its higher cost and slightly lower performance. Bring along ITX and setting up monitor, kb and mouse at multiple places simply isn't pratical.

2nd, Illegear vs other established players. This is simpler as after some time of researching, Illegear seems to check all the points with one possible downside which is the inferior audio system.

Hopefully I don't regret my purchase as this is my very first gaming laptop, and I went with a custom builder tongue.gif

BTW, any good notebook cooler to recommend here?

What are the specs

I wanted to pick Illegar , but then ended up going for Thinkpad - needed something to last long and being durable + international warranty smile.gif
Perosnally I would ecommend illegar...well , tons of options to customize

Yeah both are different category I have both of these laptop Thinkpad T470 & Selenite ( actually I have 3 laptop another 1 is Dell Inspiron 7000 2 in 1  tongue.gif ) while Thinkpad T series just for me to carry around for business use, but not really a powerful laptop for heavy gaming or video editing, it's build to be durable it better suit for business and student with light gaming need and the T series with 32 Wh + 72 Wh battery it's very very portable thumbsup.gif  for you to bring to school/library/Workplace/Starbucks without charger easily last you a day.  laugh.gif

True , now i need to scout an eGPU - but i think the 1050Ti should be still okay for light gaming

I end up picking selenite, mainly due to its 17 inch with a close to 15inch footprint, along with rtx 2060, 2tb hdd, others are all standard I guess (e.g. Intel i7, 512Gb ssd, mech keyboard.. Etc)

Thank you for the reply. Is there anyway to change the action performed when clicking on the brightness. Default action is cycling between 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Can it be changed to 0%. 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% and 100%?

Right click on Brightness , go to settings and you can tune it at 0 ,10 or some weird numbers you like

Thank you. I know how to change brightness to a custom value. The Raven also features dedicated function combinations to change the brightness.

No worries - glad to help . the laptop brightness would follow 0 20 40 60 80 100 , if you want some weird number , do it manually from the slider....

if I have to uninstall the synaptics pointing device driver, why is it installed in the first place?

Probably these guys do imaging. So basically they have a generic image for their laptops. So all sorts of drivers gets installed , and your model may not ship with the touchpad of that model...
Keep in mind these guys are ODM

Interesting. However to note that the Raven ships with "Raven Command Centre" opposed to "Illegear Command Centre". "Illegear Command Centre" is not installed and cannot be found any where in the disk. Meaning to say that the image they used on my Raven is exclusively used on Raven's only if not mistaken.

Yep but they may have different trackpad manufacturers , Illgear is just like assembling these barebone laptops . So chances are they might get different spare parts from different manufacturers

It's very common even for big brands. Like Lenovo for example , sometimes you may get SSD from Samsung...sometimes you may get from WD...WD ones are shittier. That goes for the Display

I have a complain on Illegear here.
Last week I took delivery of my Onyx notebook. Everything was as expected in terms of performance, thermals are a little high but still manageable. However 1 thing I'm pissed off is the SSD performance.

I opted for this option:
[attachmentid=10221045]

It is supposed to be delivering me 1800MB/s on writes as advertised. That is not the case, I'm only getting 700MB/s in crystaldiskmark. I have attempted to repeat this test, still the same, 700+ MB/s only.

Now suddenly you have offer for free upgrade to a Samsung SSD on purchase. So are you trying to piss your existing customer ?

What's the make and model of your NVME SSD ?

I wish I knew what is it .
I did asked the staff that was doing the spec check with me during delivery. When I asked him the same question he told me it is Illegear's own brand SSD.

Looks like PenDrive branded OEM SSD. I bought a cheap NVME SSD , and it's labelled as PCIe SSD . So I know it uses OEM PenDrive NAND chip for it. Hence that is why they are able to bundle it

Can you use CrystalDiskInfo

I only know it has a Phison SSD controller. The NAND chips I cant see clearly and it doesn't look like those DRAMless SSD at all.

It cannot be. Phison only makes the controller. There are only 6 NAND chips manufacturer on earth now. Intel, Micron, SK Hynix, Samsung, SanDisk and Toshiba.
