That's where the card come in. Beat the story mode and Iro Uphill in unlocked (in Ver.2). For Ver.3 It's unlocked already i think.

Bet nlik gonna spend double or triple when IDAS4 come out.

Well.. i surely can't resist to play ver.4 when i get's here. nod.gif . Haha.. for ver.3 I visited mines everyday just as i got new's that it has just arrived in malaysia. so well.. i 'd be doing the same with the next one i guess.

QUOTE(Malaysian @ Jan 28 2007, 05:54 PM)
real road cant really satisfy u guys ar?
*
In actual honesty, real road with real cars are more satisfying and exhilarating. There's more sense of fear and pressure and tension. Not to mention you feel the whole swaying of the car (ticklish ballz n a disco heartbeat when i corner 180+ in my real 1.6 car). Part of the fear it is not knowing what's ahead on the dark road. You also more cautious as any damage means..money flying. Not to mention how many of us can have real tuned evo, subaru or silvia's to simply race with.

But I would never get to battle in real life as much as I liked. On 1 card alone, I have more than 300 battles recorded lor. Definitely I average more than 130 battles per serious card. But i believe this is common for the usual id player.

I have seen other people have cards that have a recorded 400+ battles. Pretty sure these hardcore players have another top car card that records just as many battles.

So initial d has given me part of the thrill of mountain racing. It has also trained me well in dealing with emotions i will feel in one on one racing situations. Like when you're the underdog car, when you are the superior car and surely win, when it's a tight battle and a little bit of panic + 1 tiny mistake gives you 2nd place sad.gif , when you've got a broken accelerator or steering but still want to win or facing a real cocky, foul mouthed, cigarette smoking feller. So many situations that you will encounter when you challenge or get challenged by strangers.

Sometimes I get total beginners who challenge. So the focus has changed from just want to win, to a feeling to have funnie fun and liven it up. I handicap myself to only 4th gear even though the car has 5/6, I will take the lead and then turn the car around to go the opposite direction (so fun to try head to head collision which doesn't happen in this game sad.gif ), keep tapping the brakes when in the lead, to annoy the crap out of the following car. wahahaha..!!

ver. 4 , jus bring it!

It is pointless to battle in Initial D.
With the "Boost" on by default, all cars have 50/50 chance of winning.

I've already proven it with the underdog AE85 Levin SR, the weakest car in V2 and won a few DC2s in Irohazaka downhill battles.

Although Initial D do provide the thrill of high speed racing, I don't find it suitable for driving discipline because being good in Initial D is not very rewarding.

I have battled with Initial D drivers who think they are godly drivers and act like some big-shot, and I easily left them behind 1/2 lap to over 1 lap in Battle Gear 3 & 4.

I find it more rewarding and beneficial to concentrate on Battle Gear 3 & 4, since they are more to simulation racing and are applicable to improving the real-life driving skills.

I've already quit Initial D for over 2 years and I would indeed like to try out the V4 once it is release to see any difference or improvement that the game can offer.

Your theory regarding boost is right.

I do need to point out that the proof you presented isn't accurate.

The boost helps the chaser yes, but in your case, it will never be 50/50. In V2, DC2 is so godly on Irohazaka that the ONLY way you are going to win with any other car (yes, even RX-7s) against a DC2 in Iro is to have a WAY superior skill level over your opponent. Not even the boost will help you, as your turning speed with boost is what the DC2 can do without it. And trust me, I've been having a hell of a time blocking same skilled DC2s all the way downhill with the FD simply because they turn freakin fast to the point they sometimes do dart out of the turn before you can even block!

In V3 however, boost does help play a major role in battle because it is harder to pass without it. As a result, there are a lot more closer races with the V3 battle system (hence 50/50 chance). Of course, this only applies to some races. Because of V3's battle system where it's harder to pass, it also becomes easier to block, and if the driver know what he is doing, he can block the faster car ALL the way down/up hill if wanted to.

I have to say that battles in Initial D are actually getting pointless nowadays. I've been to the arcade nowadays only to see "fishing" matches. Fishing as in dragging the opposition to a map the opposition has a slim-to-none chance of winning. And when the opposition loses, he/she does the same. It does get boring, and it then turns into a battle of who has a fatter wallet. I used to battle alot but then turned to Time Attack if I ever wanted to play, but I eventually stopped because it was getting boring.

Now I turn to Battle Gear 4 for fun, though I really stink at it, but I find it interesting to play. If I ever play Initial D nowadays, it's for the single player modes. (Have yet to clear some of the higher level Bunta Challenges)

Wangan Midnight Max Tune? It's fun, yes, I've played it alot (have a 810HP Evo8). The lack of machines in KL just made me lose that interest. (Sogo now has only ONE machine instead of the four they had)

This might explain why suddenly 12 WMMT2 machine appear in Penang (4 in Carrefour, 8 in Pacific Megamall)

Possibly because the lack of interest of WMMT2 in KL caused the machine to move north.

Boost is needed to make a tight, exciting race lor but doesn't guarantee win. Otherwise how could a normal levin beat an evo 4 lar if same player skill with boost off. If you drive a levin and face bnr32 on tsu, wet, hehe no hope at all even with boost.

Ya I agree wif Phoenix_Cypher_K1, Fakkin DC2 in ver.2 is just too unreal. I really hate the times when i had many losses wif my rx7 to dc2's on happo. Then when i take them to other tracks, I'm also not really having any advantages over the dc2 as well. Ver.3 at least we have the concept of course cars. evo on iro, sil80 on usui, evo3 on akagi up, ae86 on akina dh.

wmmt, you can find at times square arcade 6th floor. I tried this game a few times but mostly straight road highway racing doesn't appeal to me. The 1 single winding track seems to be more off reality than iniD.
Have a sleeping GDB card.

Hehe.. if you are initial D player, you're gonna have a tough time with bg4. I tried it and had to adjust, adapt several things. But the BG series is also fun in a different way. I like the rollcage design on the cabinet and the 2 speakers at the side of your head. I just miss the upgrading, tuning of the cars and reliving initial d anime.

Who here actually bought the BG NESYS key lar? How much and can you keep upgrading the 1 single car you luv on it?

Except that their machines are Japanese, and most players in Sogo have English cards sad.gif Oh the sadness.

Oo.. i didn't know there was also english and jap version of wmmt.

Y they Japs want to make it so susah. Should be so straightforward programatically to include a "choose language" option when choosing a card. Then display the subtitles, card markings based on that. Must be some political, management reason.

Yesterday winning % drop again for the civic. sad.gif arse. Now at 56.xx%. Met a few above average players.Got beat by a 700,000+ rx-7 for 3 consecutive races. Then kena Evo4 taking me snow + iro dh which i lost. Revenge the evo on akina dry and akagi uh dry.

I missed the skyline, so I started a brand new Er34, white, tune A! Didn't care and straight open to challenge. Sure enough i got challenged by a 400,00K evo VII to happo. it's my pantang that I shall never ever lose the 1st race of my card. So full concentration and no messing around.

Aa...at the first few corners, i was reminded of the understeer of the skylines. It takes some adjustment from a nimble but low grip civic to a skyline. I won but with the evo stuck to my rear bumper. Sigh of relief for the 1st race of the card. Total I had 5 wins and 2 losses for this new card. It's up to 30,000 points.

So the NLIK9 ER skyline is back again for the 3rd time.

Added on February 16, 2007, 11:59 amFull tuned the Skyline Er34 yesterday at mines. Had 10 easy consec wins that got me to 990000 points.

Immediately I did a time attack with this pure tune A skyline, and disappointed that the highest speed on Myogi was 204km/h without touching walls and full throttle all the way.

Then i started to change the parts. Spoiler changed to nismo, rims to enkei (less understeer) , exhaust to nismo (notice improve acceleration).

So time attacks ytd:
akagi dh dry 2'25" (target "22), +5
akagi uh dry 2'32" (target "30), +6
tsuchi both ways 2'43" (target high .41), +5
akina dh dry 3'06", +6
akina uh dry 3'16" , + 7
happo dry 2'29" (one of my worst tracks) , +9
usui dry both 2'50" (should be achievable 49") + 4
Iro uh dry 3'12" (target 3'10") + 5

2'= 2 minutes and 29"= 29 seconds lor...
+4 means 4 seconds behind the internet world record (official Net Ranking)

Hmm.. looks like I average around 5+ seconds per track behind the fastest in the world. Nothing great i guess, but I think it's realistically possible to get my target times!..

There's a group of 4 Japanese guys who frequent midvalley and they're really hardcore time attackers, really good and do amazing times.

Added on March 8, 2007, 11:31 amsien with the ER34. So I started a Rx-7 Spirit Tune A. Now up to 500,000k points. Satisfy my gian.. until ver.4 reaches our arcades. battle win % is now at 74%. Lost many on akina snow to evos and skylines.
to
woo hoo.. this rx-7 is amazing on akina dry /wet. I had my fastest time attack ever in ver.3 with car on akina. Tsuchizaka has potential to match the 3'42" time i have done before but it's tricky due to the wheel locking.
On dry, this car's so good, but have a hard time on wet, and even tougher in snow.

ver.4 is out in japan already!. But so many things have changed, it'll take time to relearn the things.

Hopefully they won't charge so expensive lor for the ver.4 game and card sad.gif
