Diamond and other lower rank wont lose point, only grandmaster and master rank will go down each day, this is to avoid boosting other people and they need to play everyday. lol

U can't be demote in rank, such as when u get to rank gold, u wont derank to silver.

Also, the new party ranking system also change, lets say u r diamond rank and ur friends is gold rank, u both cannot be party together. so yea... lol

EDIT : Anyone who play overwatch can join discord server, for quick game to competitive. No need press overwatch in game button lol. Now u can play with ur friends. =)

no, this is to avoid them hogging the rankings/leagues when they may not be appropriately skilled at that point or currently.

eg: placement won all, even high tier folks, got into master. and he never ever play competitive and sits there forever effectively hogging the spot. worse if they open up the ranks beyond top 500, and that would mean he is literally hogging a rank space.

or, maybe he 1 month didn't play, casual as f already. login to play, get rekt. natural right? maybe rusty ady.
however he is stuck in that tier and always get rekt, dedgaem no fun. quit overwatch. not good also right? demoting him would effectively match him with easier players (eg: diamond instead of masters) so he won't have to suffer that much.

tldr: blizz wanted to use back the sc2/heroes competitive formula. however the hardcore/beta said otherwise, blizz listened, came up with SR, and that's not what the majority/casuals want (and casuals make up the MAJORITY of your income/player base btw) so its back to the drawing board to reach a compromise to satisfy both sides

also with improved netcode, overwatch is now the most responsive FPS > CS:GO even at 64 tick rate 19ms (vs overwatch 63 tick rate 25 ms)
and to speculate, that is probably why it wasnt enabled during the game release as it stresses BOTH the client and servers. not to mention you HAVE to be >60 fps at any given time (which may not be the case for everyone)

So guessing a upper rating tier say gold may pair with a lower rating tier platinum.

He didnt say two tiers cannot be grouped.

So this limits the group. But i am guessing in the grandmaster tier and master tier things will losen up.

Watching seagull yesterday. He won like 6 matches and rank nvr change. A loss made his rank go even lower. That means there are other players ranking up faster than him at the same time.

well i am guessing either
1. The 5 minutes before whole team was playing like buffons hence he/she didnt care already
2. Thats the problem with a lot of players aint it. Team play.
3. I played in asia server for a bit in da morning.. Bunch of fucking morons. All doing 1v1s. Nobody tanked. If tanked he also play 1v1. No healer. This is why i hate asia server. Idiots. Truly bunch or moronic idiots.
