Just to let you guys know, especially manual Persona User, that power delay between second and third gear has been fix. It's fixable, kindly brought your Persona to nearest to fix this issue. No more power dropping between second and third gear. Can accelerate like mad cow already biggrin.gif

Ohhh yeahhhh~ Unleash that baby!

So mayb the unit I test drove also suffer this issue... that explained the sluggish feel at startup rclxms.gif

Hi guys. Have been driving a standard manual version for ~a week. Below are some of my observations/issues:

1. Shifting gear from 1 to 2, 2 to 3 often resulted in immediate drop in power. Have to press more to move the car. However once above ~2000rpm power delivery is good.
2. Engine braking (and its noise) is more noticeable after 3rd day driving.
3. Radio sound will suddenly silent for 1-3 sec at certain area...searching for better signal?
4. 1st pump recorded 6.1L/100km but manual calculation is about 6.8L/100km. ~70% highway.
5. wind noise slightly noticeable above 100km/h
6. no rattling or unusual noise, at the moment.
7. cabin noise, ride and handling is rated from good to great. Car feel solid during cornering and cruising.

By the way, anyone in PJ area looking for a good deal can contact @vincent818.

Regarding the drop in power for first few gears, it can be fixed at SC based on one of the member here and he seems pretty happy with it thumbup.gif

parts nt available at HQ, delivery the wrong parts, unfriendly service advisor jus keep telling me to wait instead of giv me a roughly or exact waiting time (i passed my key at 8am sharp of course i make an appointment before, and get my car at 4.55pm, Ps; they close at 5.15pm, almost the same time wit the employee thr )

no apologise from the advisor
no compensation
no car wash
spent 10 hours jus for a antenna

before going make sure the parts are available at HQ, and ask the exact waiting time

Please read through here https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4011234/+1320

Quite some numbers of MT driver here compared to other car

IMO

The + side:
-The gear shift/engagement is very smooth, passenger may not realize u driving a MT
-Clutch is very soft
-Brake and fuel pedal level is at similar or same height, easy to perform heel to toe braking
-The gear level feels solid, minimal free play compared to Myvi and Saga FLX
-Decent 5th gear ratio, cruising at around 3.1k rpm at 110km/h based on meter, about 103km/h at 3k rpm based on calculation/waze
-slightly Shorter 1-4th gear ratio compared to rivals, good pickup for spirited drive
-quiet drive
-decent fuel consumption (by far I'm achieving 12.8-15.8km/l based on manual calculation) engine still tight at 3k mileage

The - side:
-May not get used to the throttle respond compared to other car, give you impression of weak low-end torque
-Gear level a bit far away as I need to stretch my arm abit compared to other car
-Need paddle more for power as the fuel paddle is less sensitive
-Random rev to 1.5k rpm when switching to neutral while car still rolling
-Feel underpower at startup (Due to car is stable, you don't get the push back feel compared to other car, but actually your speed is increasing) so spirited driver might don't get that G Force feel.
-No foot rest.

The weak low end torque issue can be solve right?

At the meantime Proton said this was the best setup as quoted by one of the owner, Proton says they will change the ECU setting only if theres quite some number of Persona MT owner raise up this preferences.

So, at the moment you just have to pedal more for power

then none of them are short ratios what laugh.gif

if anything, short ratio cars aren't exactly fun for city drives... how should i put it... you'll be doing a LOT of gear changes for really shitty (read: not worth it) speeds.
*
Well, don't take this too serious, its just my personal opinion based on my previous drive of MT car

Maybe I should rephrase to "Slightly Shorter Ratio in 1-4 speed compared to rivals" for not confusing some enthusiast thumbsup.gif

I only driven a few common car with pretty short gear ratios(mayb not considered short to some) like Avanza, Kancil 660 and Mazda 1000 from the 70s... but too bad I have no luck with other high performance MT car cry.gif

Moreover, regardless of short ratio/close ratio or whatsoever gear ratio setup...
MT is never meant to be convenient for city drive to begin with... except only to minority MT freaks like us who just don't care whistling.gif

i wonder what persona ratios are running? inspira:
1st - 3.538
2nd - 1.913
3rd - 1.333
4th - 1.028
5th - 0.820
Rev - 3.583

New Persona came with a tiny 185/55/15 wheel
The ratio are as follows

1st - 3.636
2nd - 2.045
3rd - 1.414
4th - 1.051
5th - 0.756

Rev 3.615

FD 4.250

By the way I'm always curious about what makes the maker to decide to have a Long FD + Short gear ratios combination VS Short FD + Long gear ratios hmm.gif
