bontotalan, goto the WoW website. There's a lot of information there as well as links to other help guides that may help you out. Including starting Newbie guides.
also, you're going to spend a lot of time reading about strategies and planning what to do next. Get used to it.

Playing Wow without BC : You can do everything but :
1) Goto Outlands. That needs lvl 58 anyways, not 60.
2) Play Draenei and Blood Elves. Those come with the expansion.
3) Play the new instances in Azeroth that is in the BC expansion.
4) Goto Ghostland, the new Lvl 11-20 area. It's near the Eastern and Western Plaguelands.
You can still do some of the Draenei quests in Azeroth provided their not in Draenei or Blood Elves starting lands. New loot can be used as well.
PvP vs. PvE (Normal) realms. Difference is that in PvE you do not get attacked by other players while you're questing. In PvP you're allowed to. PvP can be frustrating for first timers but if you enjoy retaliation, then it's the server for you. Note that PvP characters aren't allowed to be transfered to PvE.
RP realms. "Polite" realms is true but you also have to speak in "role-playing" mode i.e. no speaking the way we're doing now.
Oceanic vs. US servers. Timing is better if you're looking for people to group with and for raiding, for Oceanic (set to Sydney time). For US servers, you have to wake up earlier. Problem with Oceanic servers is that population is lower compared to US servers.
