I don't think this means a free upgrade for Streamyx. I think it means there is an option for Streamyx users to upgrade if it is available in their area. That's why it says voluntary. Which also means that you will have to pay the new price of the new package.

I posted in another thread that my guess is that Streamyx users will get a speed upgrade where technically possible.

Old prices were 2M = 130, 4M = 140, 8M = 160.
Promo prices ar 2M = 120, 4M = 130, 8M = 140.

If Streamyx users get double speed upgrade then
current 2M user should get 4M at same current price
current 4M user should get 8M at same current price

If the user cannot be upgraded to a higher package, I think they will remain at their current speed and get a RM10 or RM20 discount to match the promo prices.

If there is a new Unifi-10M package, chances are the price will be RM149 because that is what the old Unifi 5M (upgraded to 10M) are paying. This also is in line with the Streamyx 8M which may be at RM140 as above.

Since not all Streamyx user areas are covered by Unifi, my guess is that the 100K users mentioned who are eligible are those Streamyx users whose areas are now or will be covered by Unifi in the next few months. Plus counting those Streamyx users who haven't switched to Unifi so far even though their area already got Unifi previously.

That is not a free upgrade. That is asking you to switch to a new package voluntarily if available and paying a new price. This is just my guess.

Hey guys, I recently upgraded my streamyx from 1mpbs to 4mpbs @ RM120 and my area is unifi covered. I am not planning to change to unifi because I would to keep my current number.

Can I still write to CFM/SKMM on this current feud?

Your 4M is RM120? Not RM130? What is the package name? How did you upgrade? Did they call with an offer?

Can I suggest....

You should call 100 and find out whether your line supports a higher speed first. If you have 4M, but your area doesn't support 8M, then obviously there cannot be a speed upgrade. I see some users have said they are on 1M for long time as their area does not support more than that. So there can be no speed upgrade. 8M user already on max speed for now, so there can be no speed upgrade.

I am just wondering if those suprise gifts are for these users whose lines cannot support higher speed.

If I remember correctly, the new better package for non-Unifi users is only in Jun.

Also, I would consider carefully before accepting any surprise offer without finding out the above, because later they will say you already got something free and later if something better comes along, they may say you are not eligible for it for that reason.

Asking users to sign up for another mobile package and then get RM10 discount is ridiculous. Unless I really want the mobile package, why pay more to get a small discount. I wonder if the GemFive voucher will be worth RM120.(RM10 x 12 months).

It does seem that RM10 is the monthly difference they are using. This seems to be in line with
Old 2/4/8M = 130/140/160
New 2/4/8M = 120/130/140

I also think users who are now paying the old higher price should either try to call 100 and get the new price or try at TMPoint. From what I have seen the new price was initially only for new users. Later it was applicable to old users. But you had to go get it. And there may be a contract renewal.

I also see there are a couple of users who managed to go from 4M to 8M at their current price. Maybe that was because it was technically possible, or there were free ports available. But I think you have to go ask for it, maybe fight for it. No harm trying.

I called and even went to the TM point... I live in KL nearby city centre... the best speed they have is 1mbps.. they said not even able to upgrade to 2mbps..

so after several tries of asking and got rejected.. I logged the complain to SKMM..  devil.gif

So in your case, really they cannot double your speed due to technical problem. Thats why you probably get some other surprise offer, which probably is useless to you (and most others). Your complaint should be that they have not upgraded your area to offer better speeds. How much is your 1M package? RM110?

streamyx 4mbps with no easy unifi (apartment)

webe 79/month plus 10 off

now am paying 120 for the 4mbps
worth it to get above?
*
I think only you can decide if its useful to you based on your own usage and your own needs. Have you checked if your area has 8M coverage or its 4M max?

What 4M package do you have for RM120? I thought 4M is RM130 / 140?

power of persuasion
they go split 20 to my phone bill for the "supposedly free idd minutes"
and kept the 120 on the an upgraded 4mbps

make a hoohah on the phone bill on how tm agen promises free idd minutes without checking net bill

after that they strike out the 20 on the phone bill while no increase in the net bill

now stuck with 120 on 4mbps

Those agents always say this and that. Well, good for you at least your 4M is RM120.

Meaning after I complain to MACC and SKMM, TM will upgrade my speed or lower the bill? I've just upgraded my 512kbps to 4mb. Rm140 per month.
*
Did you upgrade this month or last month?

And contract renewed for how long?

You should ask for RM130 price. The packages were 2/4/8 = 120/130/140

According to the TM guy who spoke to me 4mb is rm140. Didnt know at that time 8mb is rm140 sad.gif

No harm trying to ask for RM130. Say you didn't know that was the price and the agent did not tell you. Why others pay less for the same package etc etc. It really is not fair that users get different prices for same packages.

Well no choice had to take 4mb screamyx for rm120 since tm got "NO PORT" for my hse, eventhough this mature area have 50mbps unifi
*
What is the package name on your bill for your RM120 4M package? Does it include a discount?

I see different packages mentioned such as BB Deal, Blockbuster Combo, Streamyx Home etc. Seems like different prices for same speeds.

If you check your modem status page, what is your data rate? And what is the attainable rate? Just wondering if it shows max of 2M speed.

No mood lah.
So called unifi lite only available on current covered area. Plus need to pay more for it.

It is 10Mbps from what my source told me. But RM150 for it.....kinda......sigh..sad, another unaffordable crap......upload speed is not yet confirmed, but it is stated to be 5Mbps.

So, before existing RM160 8mbps streamyx complain about U.L. package...remember about the UPLOAD speed difference...
*
Current covered area meaning already got Unifi in the area? If so, the only reason for that is to have a lower priced Unifi package to attract Streamyx users? Because they already have choice to get the current higher Unifi packages being offered if they want.

If this is the case, then the 100k users must be those in Unifi areas who haven't switched to Unifi. And its not for those Streamyx users in non-Unifi areas.

Got this reply from Telekom Monopoly, I really want to diu them what if I'm not eligible, but really no mood coz they will just ignore it. Still stuck at pathetic 1mb and still have to pay 116 monthly, F*CK!!
*
Why don't you call 100 and ask if your phone line / area supports more than 1Mb. If no, ask if your area has Unifi coverage. If no, ask how are you going to get an upgrade then?

So you got your 8M reduced from RM160 to RM140? Did you request for it? If so, I hope everyone get calls or goes to TMPoint to get the prices adjusted for their respective packages. I think they only do it if you request.

I think there must be a 1 year renewal. Hope valentine1666 or others who have done this will clarify.

You think I have not done that yet? My area is not cover by unifi, and line is still stuck at max 1mb. The reply you get is "due to technical limitation, we also cannot do anything laaaaa blah blah blah" shitty reponse!
*
My suggestion was because sometimes we ask some time back and they may have done some upgrade since then but we won't know. But good that you already checked and found out. I guess that means you will not get any upgrade due to technical reason. Just have to see if there is any new package they come up with which may apply to you.

Seriously, Unifi lite at this price!! they should stop including the shitty hypp TV and lower the price. If they want to implement quota they better lower the price even more.

I was reading the past couple of pages, I may have missed something. Isn't this Unifi Lite RM150 same as the old VIP5 RM149 which was upgraded to 10M as well? So why are we surprised about the RM150 price for 10M?
