Because there is no "free" speed upgrade without paying extra for streamyx. example, 1 to 2mbps, 2 to 4 mbps etc. Instead, TM offers us a NEW package which we need to opt-in and pay more.
Ok, yes. I thought the comparison was between Unifi Lite and the Unifi 30 / 50.
This is in line with Streamyx pricing. 2 / 4 / 8 = 120 / 130 / 140. So new 10 = 150. There is this price gap between Streamyx and Unifi from RM140 to RM179 currently. I was thinking there would be a lower Unifi entry level package. I won't be surprised there still may be later on say at RM159. The idea is to get Unifi users to upgrade and lock them in at RM179. Forget speed details. Its the monthly price that matters to them. This is why they removed the old VIP5 lower price package. As you mentioned, they could even impose data usage limits later on.
If there are 100k Streamyx users in Unifi covered areas, question is why haven't they switched to Unifi? There are only a couple of reasons for that. It could be that the user does not need the faster speeds, maybe light user or hardly at home user. Maybe some don't want to do the installation which requires hacking the walls or will cost a lot for installation due to room location etc.
The other reason is that its not an affordable jump from say 1M = 110 to 30M = 179. Again forget the speed increase. Whatever the speed, you still have to pay the extra RM69 per month which is about 60% increase in price. While I'm sure most users here can afford the prices, there are some who won't be able to. This is why I think there should be a lower priced entry level for Unifi.
