QUOTE(Shadow Kun @ Mar 30 2018, 04:16 PM) I've decided to take it slow and go 50km for janda baik ultra and end the year with 70km malaysia ultra trail festival. If I survive that then can consider 100km for next year lol. some questions.. - is there a lot of difference between running say, 42km on road vs trail? - MUTF got tons of mandatory items including things like first aid kit, emergency blankets, reflective vest, headlamps etc. do all of them really really really need to be brought and is enforced tightly? or is it more of a guideline if ur seriously contending for the top placement and a miss here and there is okay if ur not really competitive despite the warning? - also do you lug all of the stuff along the race? - on road, it's normal to do a 6 min or less pace... on trail, under 10 min pace is considered as fast for my standard - Mandatory items are compulsory and it's for life saving. You never know when accidents will happen. By that time, you'll be grateful that you brought those mandatory items. - Yes.

QUOTE(omegaflare @ Jun 4 2018, 10:19 AM) i notice the website says COT is 3h45m which i think i can manage. just trying to get a few HMs under my belt. Slower runners will need to expect possible shortage in finishers' items (medal/finisher tee), long queue for food & drinks / toilets ... human traffic jams etc even if you completed ahead of the official COT.

QUOTE(omegaflare @ Jun 4 2018, 11:15 AM) i see. didn't have that problem during the borneo marathon. thanks for the heads up i am not sure if PBIM organizer already improved or not. The last time i joined PBIM was 3 years ago. But every year i heard runners complaining on the same thing over again and vowed not to come back.

QUOTE(psiloveu @ Jun 12 2018, 04:42 PM) I m using amazfit about one year....... full charge......can last 16-17 hours, tested at Taiwan trail event, BUTM 100KM and Penang ECO. For event 100km, I charged it at midpoint, usually 12-13hrs after starting (battery still have 30-40% capacity). For me ...... it is a quite high CP value watch as I m new in trail run. I am tempted to get one amazfit until i found out the gps accuracy is quite questionable when running in the trail. What do you think about the gps accuracy?

QUOTE(psiloveu @ Jun 12 2018, 05:01 PM) Regarding GPS....... i did compared with other Brunei participants' Garmin models during BUTM, the distance and elevation quite comparable and more consistent than participants put their Garmin with ultra mod. The first half was 49.6km (watch) vs 50.5km (official), second half was 51.1km (watch) vs 51.4km (official). For the elevation part, the first half was 3971m (watch) vs 2650m (official); The second half is 2331m (watch) vs 2360m (official). I can explain the first half a bit "out of line" was mainly due to the rain/cloud effect. My gf is using the amazfit pace version 1 and quite often the distance tracked on her watch is much lesser than mine (suunto ambit 3) The variance could be more than 1k when running in wawasan. My watch gps accuracy is set to best with 1 sec recording interval. Of course I can't compare a sub RM500 watch to a much expensive gps watch but >1k variance is a bit too much in such short distance running in trail.

QUOTE(afiqishak @ Aug 29 2018, 01:19 PM) WTA: Suunto Ambit3 run or Amazfit Pace / Stratos ?? only want to use it for run. not interested of the idea of daily smartwatch. Like the suunto function that can navigate your way back especially for trail run. But Amazfit price better with wrist HR. but is it accurate? Any Amazfit pace / stratos user here? No comment about Amazfit pace / stratos Suunto ambit3 run is among the most accurate GPS sport watch you can get. source : http://fellrnr.com/wiki/GPS_Accuracy#

QUOTE(lightworks @ Nov 1 2019, 09:05 AM) advice needed; never run FM previously, mistakenly join two FM runs within 2 weeks, does one week or less for rest/recover before next run is sufficient? Well, I do not know your fitness level and how you trained. If you used to back to back training , it should be okay. I've seen runners doing ultra races every week. For normal runners, it'll take weeks to fully recover.

QUOTE(Vrese @ Nov 8 2019, 04:49 PM) guess you are not trying to miss lead him of course not. If he is doing 40~50k weekly mileage all these while , means that he got enough training and his body already get used to it.
