To you ktards and bakers who wanna buy helmet from overseas retailers, there's a new procedure if your helmet is stopped by kastam. Just wanna share for you guys enlightenment.

Key point: Helmet for PERSONAL USE only. If for selling, have to go thru SIRIM. Helmet if possible tested and conform to ECE22.05 cos Malaysia govt only recognise that standard as safe for usage on Malaysian roads

1. Boughted helmet (from revzilla, fc-moto, helmetcity whatever)
2. Obtain and print invoice
3. Wait for notice from Kastam saying your helmet is under holding by them. Print the notice
4. Practice your best SPM Bahasa Melayu surat rasmi
5. Write a letter to Bahagian Kejuruteraan Automotif JPJ Putrajaya titled Surat Rayuan/pelepasan topi keledar
6. Find a copy of advertisement of your helmet, or a stock photo of it at least. Print it
7. Bring all four items (invoice, kastam notice, surat rayuan and helmet photo sample) to the above mentioned department of JPJ Putrajaya. If you're feeling particularly lazy, can just email it. might get your surat pelepasan slower. if by hand, possible can get the same day.
8. Successful? Bring the surat pelepasan along with other docs to Kastam KLIA.
9. Pay tax if applicable. Usually 6%, maybe 10%. Dont quote me on this.
10. Enjoice your new helmet
