Today I went to pharmacy and look for supplement.
May I know fish oil have good effect for adults or not? I know for kids 2-4 years old have good effect but for adults still have effect or not? I find the Blackmores and Kordels fish oil and I know they are branded one.

Thank you

You will want to go for high DHA. I wouldn't touch blackmore. Why?

Furthermore fish oil sold in malaysia are most likely in ethyl ester (EE) form (cheaper to produce with lower absorption). Also, how do we know that their claim that their fish oil is free from pollutants is true and freshf? Unless they can produce a certificate of analysis (have to email the company) or tested by IFOS, then it's ok.
For me,when I buy fish oil I look at 2 things
a) must be in triglyceride form (as how it occur in nature - more stable and better absorption)
b) must pass IFOS test.

A rancid + contaminated fish oil do more harm to the body than good.

For me, personally, I only buy Carlson and Nordic Naturals.

Alright tell me is Nutrilite certified by IFOS? Second tell me are they ethyl ester or triglyceride? Third, tell me, how mg of EPA and DHA are there in one capsule? Fourth tell me what's the price you are selling?

QUOTE
One softgel provides 300 mg of omega-3 essential fatty acids (180 mg of EPA, 120 mg of DHA), plus vitamin E (30 IU of d-alpha Tocopherol).

A pathetic amount. Even Pristin/Carlson Elite Gems/Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega have more omega 3 per capsule than that. One will have to take 2-3 softgels/day just to match the omega3 content of Pristin/Nordic/Carlson.

QUOTE
RM144/bottle for 120 softgels

Better options exist when one factored in the price/softgel.

Is worth my money if I want to support MLM/direct sales. The thing with MLM/direct sales is one is paying too much to the seller. Min profit by MLM/direct sales company = 200% profit.

Is it really true?
Fish oil in my thought is for kids.
Like what the experts said, still not confirm?
*
No not really. But fish oil for adults will show effects usually >2g for those with pain, high triglyceride. (Based on reviews from amazon) However eating too much fish will accumulate mercury

I take fish oil on a daily basis for years.
I've switch to wild salmon fish oil for quite sometime now.
Just wondering why do you only take Carlson and Nordic Natural.
Any specific reasons that attracts you?
Judging by your post on fish oil, you're quite knowledgable.
I would change to Carlson or Nordic if they're good.
Thanks for sharing

One I only take fish oil which are certified by IFOS. Manufacturer can said they are the freshess, no contamination, blah blah. But do they have proof to prove their claim? A fish oil manufacture which cannot produce a certificate of analysis (email them for it) should start ringing some alarm bells as they have something to hide. IFOS is 3rd party.
Second, IFOS certified both ethyl ester and triglyceride fiah oil. I only take triglycerides fish oil as they are much more stable (won't go rancid so fast), better absorbed and exist in nature as triglycerides. Ethyl ester fish oil are cheaper to produce but more prone to oxidation (bad thing) and is less absorbed by the body.
Third, their DHA-EPA contents are pretty high when you compared to fish oil sold in malaysia pharmacies. (you need lesser softgels to meet the min amount per day)
In the US, Nordic is like the gold standard for fish oil. If you money is not an issue to you, take Nordic. If you are on budget, take Carlson.

Hope this answer your questions.

Can you share what you read?  I'm interested.  Coz when I was pregnant, my OB-Gyne prescribed fish oil in my last 2 weeks of pregnancy.
*
Just follow your OB-Gyne as not many know that fish oil supplementation is a national plan by some country biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I can't find the source.
Just make sure that the fish oil doesn't contain mercury, rosemary extract (Carlson is perfectly fine. If you are buying Nordic, avoid the ultimate version, get the prenatal version which will not have rosemary extract)

I know I'm a little bit off topic here. Do you have some information regarding the abbott surbex protect?

Just wanted to know more from you if you have more information regarding multi vitamins supplement.
*
My opinion? They are worthless. Dosage is too low to do good. For multivitamin, I recommend taking spirulina + chlorella. Why? Both of them are highly dense nutritious food. More nutrient dense than anything. An entire community in Africa at Lake Chad survive on dried spirulina cakes and they are not undernourish like the rest of the Africans.
For CoQ10, one should buy ubiquinone produce by Kaneka

For me and my family,
Multivitamin : Nutrex Hawaian Spirulina + Yaeyama chlorella powder 1tsp each (much more cost economical than tablets)
Fish Oil : Nordic/Carlson
Antioxidant : Healthy Origins Astaxanthin
Parents : Healthy Origins CoQ10 Ubiquinone 100mg (to counter the effects of statins)

If you really want me to recommend multivitamin,
Pure essence master multivitamin 240 tablets
Life extension mix tablets 315 tablets

Of course one does not need to take the full dosage. Hence the above 2 is value for money.

Hi Ramjade, thank you for sharing!

Is this still the best affordable choice?

How do you validate the effectiveness after taking for a period of time?
*
I still stand by Nordic, Carlson and sports research.

Sports research is decent. It's certified by IFOS, in TG form and very high concentration.

You do a test.
1. Clean your hands with soap and water. Take a sewing needle and burn the tip/diabetes needle and poke your finger. Your bleeding should be prolong if you have taken sufficient dosage of fish oil. Of course rancid oil may also cause that.
2. Go do strenuous exercise until you can feel your muscle ache. Load up on fish oil say 15g/day and see if your pain resolve faster.
For me I sprained my ankle once and loaded up on fish oil, turmeric and the pain was gone in 2 days. By 3rd day was almost pain free.
3. Do a fasting lipid test at your BP, Gribbles lab. Your lipid profile should be decent. If not, something is wrong.

Thank you for your reply. Interesting test you mentioned here although might be due to variable factors.
Can fish oil help increase HDL and reduce LDL cholesterol?

Also, how does the combination of spirulina and cholera become multivitamin?
*
The easiest and safest test is lipid profile. In papers yes. But for me the one which really work was one avocado a day. It does wonder to one blood lipid after 3 months (tested personally)

I use to do that when I have access to 5lbs of nutrex spirulina and yaeyama chlorella. Until went out of stock. Now I just use amazing grass super orac instead + lots of fruits and vege like guava, dragon fruit, tomato, carrot.

Thank you again Ramjade. Any specific avocado or from particular country?

For sport research, only recommended is their fish oil?

The amazing superfood seems yummy, will take note.

On the other hand, for the healthy origin coq10 seems to out of stock. Kaneka coq10 100g instead?

Any avocado will do. Make sure it's soft to touch but not mushy. You can buy hard one. They can last like 1-2 weeks outside at room temp Once ripen it will become soft. You can try those on shopee (they are indonesians ones) but muuch cheaper than anything you cand find in the supermart except sometimes Giant selling like 1 piece RM1.50-RM1.80. QUality from shopee questionable. Never order before. Alternatively you can buy avocado oil. La Tourangelle Avocado Oil

Fish oil, turmeric. I take sports research turmeric twice daily.

Your choice. I am using Vitacost Synergy ToCoQ10 with BioPerine® & EVNol SupraBio 400 mg - 120 Softgels for my parents.

Much appreciated on the details.
Would love to consume the avocado vs the oil itself.

Anyway, it seems the brand sports research is more cormercially available in Malaysia compared to other brands, price relatively similar in shopee.

Do you buy all from Iherb? Can't find the vitacost in there

Thank you
*
Avocado have no taste. To being out the taste you need to mix it with food. Once you mixed it with food, it is like mayonnaise.

I buy from iherb. It's cheaper than what shopee sells. Those people just buy from iherb and sell on shopee making a profit.

Nope. I look elsewhere once I see iherb stops selling healthy origin in order to push their own brand California gold nutrition though. Kind of sad. California gold nutrition is kind of subpar Vs healthy origins.

I buy my coq10 from vitacost. At least they are still selling healthy origins brand.

Use bigpay if you ever want to do online shopping. It give you the best rate.

Hi, thank you very much for the info.

I ordered 2unit of Sports Research, Omega-3 Fish Oil, Triple Strength, 1,250 mg, 180 Softgels AND
Pure essence master multivitamin 240 tablets since they have 25% discount for new user.

The Sport research turmeric is out of stock for now. sad.gif

Sure, bigpay is good.

Thank you again for the recommendation. thumbup.gif

Nowadays I just take vitacost synergy 3000 multivitamin. Look at the ingredients and price!

QUOTE(jutamind @ Apr 25 2021, 07:41 PM)
ramjade What's the shipping cost for Vitacost compared to iherb? shipping using Skynet as well?
*
Around USD14.99 flat rate for up to I think 3lbs. Use bigpay. Don't use bank cards.

Iherb is free shipping but they earned back by inflating the price. You can compare vitacost is cheaper.

It's been 4months, almost finished the Pure essence master multivitamin 240 tablets.
Also, had been consuming Sports research turmeric daily.

Mentally and physically feels more energetic but probably will go for a full blood test to see the difference.

@Ramjade Is there a lower serving size but a more concentrated option for the vitacost synergy 3000 multivitamins?
The recommended serving size of 6 is kinda a lot. Is the capsule small?
*
I take only 2 biji as I want to save cost. Then again I have lots of fruits and vege in my diet and taking amazing grass super orac as well.

So your choice. To answer your question no. No concentrated version. Btw use bigpay to buy. Don't use normal credit card.

Did I have high expectationn on the supplements taken? Cause I am a bit disappointed on the outcome (blood reports out) which is similarly the same way before consuming them. Just curious, is there any effects from your side? Concerns on low HDL and slightly high  LDL

Mentally, I do feel its bringing a healthier me with the supplement. I work out strength training 4times/week without fail for years already..

Should I continue? Dilemma
*
You need right supplements for HDL and LDL. For me the only one which works are one avocado a day. Take for one month. Really change the result. But super expensive. One avocado is around rm3-4biji.

Those uspplemtns are not for HDL and LDL.

Thank you for your reply again!
Is there way to measure the efficiency of the multivitamins, fiah oil and tumeric to the body?

Noted on the avocado. Quite challenging actually for this new diet. Need to think of ways incorporate them into daily life.
*
Not of anyway with a blood test. But for turmeric you can know. Last time I felt down the stairs and twisted my foot/sprain my ankle, I Brew myself turmeric tea with coconut oil and black pepper 3-4x/day and the pain went off by 3rd day. Was as good as new on 3rd day PM.

Diet is one part. You need exercise. You cannot forgo exercise. Simple stuff like jumping rope, marching in place, butt skips, jumping jack, squads, planks, lifting some weights, brisk walking for 1h follow
by the above for another hour is good enough.

You also need to get rid of high carbs, processed oily food. Eat more raw unprocessed food and complex carbohydrates like sweet potatoes, Chapatti Vs rich/mee/bihun/roti channai,

For weights, I recommend buying water dumbbells/elastic resistance bands and use them to exercise. You don't need weights also can. You can search hybrid calisthenics on YouTube. He shows exercise without equipment other than his pull-up rings.
