Hi all,

I am trying understand the common specifications for amplifier and speaker.
Here is the problem, i have a old 4ch amplifier and a Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer but not sure if it can be hook it up.
Understand that manufacturer often claim a higher peak wattage but in fact it misleading.

Sub-woofer specification:
400w RMS/Nominal
800w Peak/Max
4 ohm

Amplifier specification:
1200x4 watt (Printed on the amp)

* Due to the amp was not an well known brand, tried to search on the web but could not find the complete specification.

So here is my questions:
1. The sub-woofer 400w RMS refer to each coil or both coil?
2. Will it damage my DVC if i just connect one of it?
3. Amp 1200x4 Watt mean each channel will support 1200? or divided to 4ch with 300 peak each ch?
4. How can i get the RMS specification for my amplifier? e.g. using multi-meter?

Hope some1 able to enlighten me...
