Hi guys is it okay if I rent my gears as i seldom use them nowadays. Just asking for opinions, how do i set the rates/ terms n conditions and whatnot. i dont have a big collection of gears just a guitar and an amp. i dont mind to give others to use my gears as long they can take care of em gently. feedbacks are much appreciated cheers

10% of value of instruments is a start.
t&c...that one up to u.
unless obviously ur a company doing events and setting it up urself etc so u can look after them, then logically why would u trust anyone to return ur guitar / amp after they're done...
best is do a buy-back...they pay full...they return instrument...u give back 90%...

Bro personally there are a lot of people renting equipment out... but not a lot of them are really careful with equipment when they rent it.

The wear and tear can be pretty fast. Well there is the route of personally renting out... make friends with musicians and studio sessionists. I believe at times they want different tones to the albums they are cutting. they may need specific guitar specs and they would need it for longer times.

Maybe that's a better route.

This option may be a safer way... make them own it... then they will take care of it... but I don't think a lot of musicians have all that money.... if especially rare guitars etc.

that way is actually done with some camera rental stores here.

anyway if the band is good and in studio, then usually the producer can help source equipment they need for the recordings.
if the band isnt good and no money, then then they probably no money to rent studio to record also...so no need talk about renting expensive guitars tongue.gif

The safer way to rent but i've a gibson and a mesa amp at the moment.let say i value both items at 10k. So the rate would be rm100.is it it charge on hourly basis? But definitely someone wont splash that kind of money just fot rental even they know it'll be refunded.

10% of rm10k is rm1k...not rm100 tongue.gif
car companies also same... cheap car rm100+ / day... expensive car rm1k++++++ / day...but of cos smaller fraction of price of car...
but they of cos got better security measures in place if someone tries to steal etc... hence they don't ask u pay in full.
anyway i dunno any individual who rents their guitars out... i have been asked before by couple of bands to borrow my guitars for recording... offered something around rm400... but i knew them personally anyway and they know I'll probably break their arm if anything happens tongue.gif

but really in the end, no point renting for recording...market too small.
most ppl still rather rent backline for events.

Quite a good rate tbh. Previously i was thinking to keep the equipments at my friend's house so maybe we can set up a mini studio.due to working commitment want play also no time.
