Interesting read and experience... One get special treatment while wearing luxury watch..

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_n...-WATCH-you.html

Anyone experience the same? Do share it...

Mostly encounter it at luxury watch shop... Sales personal will look at the watch in hand before they choose their approach... Friendly or just ignorance

hmm... any similar service provider in Malaysia? brows.gif

the seller is careless and he wired the fund to a bank account in USA where recipient name not matching seller name... hello? seriously?

I have bought a few watches in the last decade through internet, and luckily nothing bad happened

Hey guys,

So my cousin has been a huge fan of the Rolex Submariner and I followed him scouting around for its price and realised that the date version goes for approximately RM33,500 while one of the dealers around KL quoted us RM35K.

Hence, he decided to go ahead with the Submariner no date version which retails at 27k++

Though I have a question, would he be able to use nato straps on the "no date" version ? The dealer claimed that the lung of the submariner no date is the same with the date version hence nato straps could be used.
Could I please clarify this with you Sifu's over here ?
Thanks!
*
yes, he can

in fact, any watch can be fitted with a NATO strap, there are straps of various width to suit watches

buying a watch and thinking of resell value, better dont buy anything.

all watches lose value, its just the swiss constantly increase prices every yr or so which gives the impression that they hold value.
but reality is as retail price increase, so too does the used prices.

anyway, that omega rm20k...quite expensive already due to currency.
used to be rm18k retail.
find the older one with 2500 movement in used market should be around rm10k...newer model probably rm14k used.

rclxms.gif well said, still the general public is blinded by absolute price

Well I've actually considered to continue saving to increase my budget to a higher like maybe 10k for better options. But then as my salary isn't really that high, wearing a 10k+ watch would be too much i guess? What would sifus suggest?
*
get a GS, almost nobody will notice you are wearing a five digit watch

for thorough cleaning suggest to clean using the ultrasonic bath, i learnt my lesson the hard way by bathing it together with me.

I have a ultrasonic cleaner back in my home town, but kinda lazy to use that, coz you need to remove the bracelets

RM4k is a decent budget for a watch, and a very nice gesture for your brother. At that range, I think there is nothing wrong with a decent, honest Seiko; great as a first watch to integrate into working society, imho. Like others have suggested, in the ballpark are also brands like Oris, Longines, Tissot, etc. More importantly, do you know if your bro appreciates timepieces? It is more important to get something that he will ultimately like and want to wear all the time. If you need to, speak to him. Good luck.
*
spot on!

let's see, there not many thing that's considered men luxury item, perhaps a nice pen if your brother is not into watches

Sorry bro if cannot ask here

Just wanna make sure before give it to my dad, just in case he ask me it's ori or not

Again, sorry, me first time here
*
nobody said you can't ask question here
he just said that the photo you provided is too low reso (and the watch only feature in small part of the photo) to determine genuine or not
actually there are many articles in the net on how to determine (to a large extend) genuine or not
yet the best is you go to Rolex service center asking them to quote fee as if you want the watch serviced
