QUOTE(axn992 @ Oct 31 2020, 08:15 PM) Do Omega watches hold their value? Buy what you love buddy. Seamaster is an amazing watch. but as a normal consumer, value will always be one of the main consideration, hence in this case i would opt for a Blackbay58Currently looking at this one since all Subs are gone. https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-se...-21030422001001 |

QUOTE(axn992 @ Nov 3 2020, 04:11 PM) i would say 4-6weeks? the hype has slowed down quite a bit but its still an obtainable watch unlike a submariner or GMT. Surprisingly i find the Blackbay58 Blue to be better built than the OG bb58 for some reason. feels more solid but maybe my mind's playing trick on me because its newer |

QUOTE(pleasuresaurus @ Nov 6 2020, 03:05 PM) Perhaps the gilt/gold of the OG comes across as....dainty maybe? agree with fuzzy. i honestly prefer my bb58 than my sub date. the 39mm just fits the wrist more elegantly and its a better conversation piece.I'm debating whether should get the BB58 or not. Seems nice n all but can't help but feel its over hyped. I suppose one good thing is that resale won't take such a bad hit since its reasonably in demand i feel Tudor is more of a watch enthusiast brand while the Sub has become a insta flex watch. The bb58 is also a new in-house movement (previous movement could not fit into the 39mm casing) and it commemorates the 50th anniversary release for the original tudor dive watch, hence with the historical story behind it |

QUOTE(pleasuresaurus @ Nov 7 2020, 01:00 PM) I think my wrist is a little flatter than most, seems to feel more comfy with the BB 41mm rather than 39mm though, which is another thing. Thats an interesting observation though, Tudor BB being the choice for enthusiasts and Rollie sub being the flex piece. Never thought about it that way but it does make sense. Fair enough the rolex is more established, pricier, coveted n all but it has evolved into a show piece due to consumer perception n demand. The BB58 on the other is a well executed newcomer that just oozes value however which way we look at it, punching well above its bracket. ![]() ![]() ![]() As shown you can see that the 41mm is a lot thicker. I feel my wrist is quite an average size. 41mm does look better top view, but side view itβs too thick for my own preference |

QUOTE(subliminal_dreams @ Nov 8 2020, 02:42 AM) I don't know if I'd agree that Tudor can be considered as an enthusiast brand.. because many others would come in mind. I'd say Tudors' are more for people who'd love to have a decent, well built, on par with Rolex standards, daily beater at reasonable prices. Perhaps in the past it may have carried the stigma of being the poor man's Rolex but I think in the past few years they've done well to detach themselves somewhat from that label. And that's a good thing as they do build excellent watches, and buyers nowadays sought them out for what they truly are. I would agree that tudor used to be a poor man's rolex. thankfully they've stepped up their game and found their own identity. The fakers and wannabes can always procure those superclone China reps. And while it's true that in the current era subs and DJ's are so common, for those with the means, they'd rather insta flex with RM's, AP's and Pateks. But now with the current luxury market, even Oyster Perpetuals are unobtainable, understandable people would sip into tudor territory. i would define True enthusiast watches would be Sinn, Ming, etc etc. However Tudor for me sits on the luxury watch, yet partial enthusiast scale. QUOTE(pleasuresaurus @ Nov 7 2020, 11:20 PM) Yeah, I see wat u mean, seen from that angle its quite a chunk. I am reminded that the 79230 is tad thicker than its 79220 smiley text predecessor, owing to the fact that the former's inhouse caliber is thicker than the latter's ETA one. One of the reasons that makes the 79220 still appealing somewhat. That's a good comparison la the side view, really puts the dimensions into perspective ππΏ Do u usually wear ur bracelet on the looser side? remove 3 links + 1 pin adjustment on the bottom of the bracelet would give my wrist more breathing room |

To me they are the pride of german watch making (with lange )! |

QUOTE(Kelvw @ Jan 23 2021, 02:48 AM) Another nice surprise from the Vacheron boutique being posted today. A box of Fine & Rare Scotch Whiskies to sample at cask strength How much to spend in VC to get this treatment bro π? I donwant to get treated like a slave By Rolex anymore hahahahaDefinitely a much better treatment than Rolex ADs L to R: Royal Lochnagar Selected Reserve, Johnnie Walker Legendary Eight, Talisker 8 Year Old & Mortlach 21 Year Old ![]() ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(alternativehype @ Jan 23 2021, 03:02 PM) Right!! Spend 50k+, yet still need to beg a sales person. In SG, some have resorted to lick ass of a Rolex AD publicly on social media, macam the AD is a savior. Summore, nonsense purchase with purchase means you may be spending well above 100k By ass licking.. are you referring to Kxx ? ππ ya on social media pray to them like their bring food and money to the table. Frustrating least to say |

QUOTE(Kelvw @ Jan 23 2021, 10:15 PM) Lol I'm not a big spender at VC, they have bigger clients but treat every customer equally well. I guess I get the extra treatment as I purchase directly from the boutique, so no discounts but you get the other perks. Also I've decided to purchase a boutique edition so it's not available anywhere else, which makes paying for it a bit more palatable (or I tell myself lol) thanks for your input! yes out of all the brands out there, personally for me Cartier, AP and Hermes gets the top on my list. Cartier wise, i do get coffee table books, chinese newyear packets yearly from them. Hermes is at a stage where they do offer me purchases for gold hardware lindy and up to date 2 birkins, we get occasional texts and calls from their staff especially during this pandemic session. I was invited to sample their Remy Martin Louis xiii in store but the pandemic has put everything on hold To reiterate what friedricetheman said, we're done chasing after Rolex and the AD games palaver. You get treated with more dignity from other brands. TBH it was refreshing to see what other watchmakers have and hence I've moved on to VCs, Lange and Breguet. There are just too many people with Rolex on their wrist everywhere too and I prefer to be a bit more discreet. i do feel rolex boutique service varies at 2 far ends. Hxxr Glxxx services are the worst of all. doesnt matter if you spent 50k, 60k, or 100k. unless you're buying their hublots/ other premium brands, forget about getting allocated. even blackbay 58s are on INTEREST list. on the other hand, SWG staff from my experience are willing to chat it up with you in a boutique even though they got nothing to offer you. they dont give you the "rolled eye" look as compared to HG. But honestly if you have 30-40k to spend in rolex, just spend in another shop. |

QUOTE(pleasuresaurus @ Jan 26 2021, 01:18 PM) I can't even think of these as consolation prizes la bro, they are great and desirable pieces in their own right haha tough option buddy. even though its an ETA movement, smiley dial with the rose logo to me is going to be a classic in the future. 41mm aint that bad too tbh. Out of curiosity la, if u were given the opportunity, a choice between the Harrods or the Noir smiley dial, which would u go for? The harrod's an eye catcher for sure, especially for those uncle auntie who be like " eh ah boy is that the green lolex ah? pleasuresaurus liked this post
