Went window shopping today, had the Omega SM heritage 300, “great white” diver 300, bb58 all side by side.
The great white just pops. The dial, the wave, raised hour indices. Whereas the BB58 just fell flat - cause it is. The SM 300 was way cleaner than the BB58 in terms of dial. But don’t fancy the SM300 size with the clean dial cause it’s just too big while being “kosong”. Great white was just as big but the dial had more to look at. I’m happy with a 36mm DJ so that gives you an idea. I find I have no love for the faux patina or the retro look. Went and take a look at the Longines Hydroconquest ceramic 39. The dial was just boring. I’ve always thought it’d be more interesting since on paper it’s “Sunray black”. Well it’s just gloss black, and photos looked like it has potential. But nope, quickly passed. Next I want to look at the Cartier Tank solo small, question at the back of my head is do I get the solar version or the quartz version. I am leaning towards the latter since I know it’s going to be reliable for eons to come with no issues. Louis Tank rose gold with that dial is the bomb but not keen on paying the asking. Anyhow, reached an achievement and what better way to celebrate than to pick up a watch! So now it’s Cartier Tank Solo or the Great White SM Diver 300 I’ve got a black dial chrono, champagne DJ, so adding a white dial watch looks like the way to go. |

Okay pulled the trigger. The only gripe I have with the SM300 diver is the lume is laughable. The BB58 outshines it by far. Supposedly the Sub killer, with that kind of lume it's just shooting in the dark. The BB58 definitely wears better, a smaller and more manageable size, but the white dial and the depth with the indices on the SM300 diver just pops, can't stop looking at it. Saw the green SM300 diver, spark no joy. Already ordered a rubber strap + folding clasp for the SM300 diver...RM2.2k for that... with no discounts gotta wait a month or two for that. The bracelet is good esp. with the micro adjustment but its just too bulky cause it doesn't taper! Oh ya the fake rivets on the BB58 is just silly. The BB58 really punches above its weight, at the current price genuinely a steal..before more price hikes. ck77 liked this post

Curious, how’s the Ball tritium doing after < 10 years. Anybody here got one running that long?
Blink of an eye it’s been 12 years with my Brad Pitt Tag. Now he’s with Breitling liao and I am still stuck with the Tag. Send it for full service outside also cost RM1k+ with all the gaskets and stuff. |

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Dec 31 2022, 07:05 PM) GS has a dizzying array of watches and their website makes it hard to navigate. Maybe it’s just me.And it’s just model numbers instead of proper names? I feel the way the Swiss categorize watches makes more sense. |

QUOTE(Chinoz @ Dec 31 2022, 06:10 PM) Congrats! No bad choice here if you ask me. I started with a 41mm, then a 36mm and now this. I realised I don't care much about the measurements, more concerned with how the actual thing looks and feels on my wrist. One probably fits a larger wrist better, while the other a smaller wrist. I’ve recently sold the last of my Omegas and moving towards smaller watches as I approach my 40s Long ago I was so intrigued by the Oris TT1 diver thanks to photos, but cause of the case design and how it sat, didn't work for me. Now I am trying to see how a small Cartier Tank Solo/must 24.4mm fits-- if I find one. The current release was resized to 22mm for the small and 25.5 for the large. Given that it is quartz and super slim 5.55mm for the old one, 6.6mm for the current one. Minimalist, and never out of style, like Ray-Ban Aviators. 22mm was... laughable on my wrist. Not sure why Cartier went and did such a resize, I assume it is to fit the solar beat. rx330 liked this post

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Jul 28 2023, 02:32 PM) Well he did say “right now….”After he get endgame watch, then will have another endgame watch. Like MCU, got parallel universe. Never ending. I was eyeing GS with that pink flake dial, but rocking it with t-shirt and jeans feels very out of place for me. Then Cartier Tank Must came to mind, can’t seem to shake it. But now everyday also rocking SMPc300 diver with folding clasp on rubber. First time wearing watch on rubber (excluding G-shock) and homaigod it’s so good. If I knew it was *this* good I won’t bother buying the watch with bracelet. |

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Aug 23 2023, 11:45 AM) I'm failing in my quest to poison my SO on the Cartier. But she seems to start to be keen on the DJ, although I suspect because it's a Rollie. Rollie is so... mehIt's the "never wrong choice", which makes it so ubiquitous. Lack of..character. As much as I feel my vintage DJ with its acrylic crystal and tapestry dial is full of character, end of the day it is just another DJ. If anything, Cartiers are more uncommon. Ballon Bleu would be quite nice for a lady. Classy. An acquaintance have one on a red leather strap. Looks classy and sophisticated on her. And she was beautiful so that helped a lot.
